  • So then, its an annoying job but someone has got to do it.
We have the EXC-F 350 in The Garden Workshop today for some new water pump seals.
Please excuse the audio as there is soooo much wind noise. The Hero 5 Black suffers badly in the wind. Thankfully the video is pretty clear so just play some music at the same time. : )

Thanks Dave, shame about the audio but the Hero 5 always does that when hand held. The video is clear though (I hope!) 😃

Is the gap between bearings and seals supposed to be filled with grease?
And what made your seals go out?
      Great Job

Thanks for the vid, despite how hard it is to hold a camera and work with both hands 😂 but you did a great job , thanks . 👍

Good stuff mate and thanks for watching and commenting. Did you find it clear enough or are there things that could've been better?

@@dynamotightstar3472 It was important to see you doing it just as I was going to, not in a shop with proper shit 🤣. Mine held so far so watching your's did the trick. Now if I could only find a video on replacing the water pump gear on the 350's...

That's quality mate. 😃 I'm afraid I can't help with that one but good luck. 👊

Nice video Dynamo, I have a question...
In the minute 10:51 clearly looks like the shaft OD and seal ID is not plenty touching each other,,, I already did the same reparation on my 14' 350 exc-f. But I noticed that the OD shaft at the end of it, looks or apear like has a little wear,,, so I notice that and add silicon in the ID and OD of the seal... Turn on the bike, everything is OK and did make a trip of 10 hours aproximately, but the day after that trip, the bike start to leaking from the same spot. (Little hole in the cover)
My questions are, you notice this shaft wear on your bike? I'm wrong adding silicone in the ID and OD seal?
    Thanks!

Thank you Jonathan. The grease enables the seal to slide over easily. Once you press it in it should seal. The shaft has to spin though so it can grip it or it would need a bearing. The inner seal.
It definitely doesn't need silicon sealant. There are slight variations in the models/years. Maybe you've got the wrong one?
The important thing is that the inner seal holds else you have water in your gear box.
I think your 14 plate might be the year changed a few bits. I know the 15 is slightly different as my mate Joe has one.

You also need to clean off any corrosion on the part won't seal correctly.

      Ps
Is this a particular problem with 350's
Or typical for the average engine hour/ time..?
      Thank you
      Video came out nicely!
      Beautiful bike too

@limbandtreeremoval it's.usually where people have used water instead of coolant or haven't changed the coolant. Coolant becomes very acidic and breaks down the rubber seals. Water causes rust on the metallic parts which then wears the rubber seals. It's a service item on all bikes but without proper maintenance it needs doing sooner.
And thank you, it was a nice looking bike. I had some good times with that bike.

It's comma multipurpose grease. Just regular off the shelf automotive stuff. I use it for auto gates too.
