A lot of minor villains compliment Jotaro's ability to make extremely tough decisions and adapting on the spot, and that's the real danger while fighting him and not star platinum
It wasn't on a whim. He saw DIO using a knife to deal with Joseph knowing he couldn't touch him. So it wasn't a a leap to think he would try the same tactic again.
Everyone here is missing the point, WHEN DID HE HAVE THE TIME TO DO THAT? Or, back in the first Darby Brother fight, no, it couldn’t be, his stand is the same kind as The World? So, he had all the time… _snicker snorkle…_ IN THE WORLD!
I could not have possibly reacted that quickly to DIO listening for his heartbeat lmfao. I'd have been like "what's he doing" then he gets up immediately like "SO YOURE ALIVE!" 😓
While I feel Jojo has some really, really slow pacing, this part of the fight is meant to be slow. Nothing Dio does is idle, but purposeful, methodical. Though that being said, it’s otherwise a fantastic edit.
@@lordbiscuitthetossable5352 In the Manga, when Dio is going to attack Polnareff while Jotaro is pretending to be dead, the manga's narration says that it's been 2 minutes since Kakyoin's death and that the battle will end in only half that time
@@stevefilms1997 I doubt that someone who has not seen or read the fight beforehand can understand why DIO suddenly got down on the ground and why Jotaro's heart suddenly showed up.
Manga narrator, after Polnareff's surprise attack failed: "It's only been a little over a hundred seconds since Noriaki Kakyoin was defeated by Dio's stand, The World. Less than two minutes have passed..." 🤔
It’s better paced. The anime suffers from monologues being much slower to read aloud vs read in your head. A panel with a 30 second long monologue can be arbitrarily 5 seconds and suspension of disbelief would be intact because it’s just images. A video lasting thirty seconds that’s supposedly five breaks that disbelief
I think thats a goddam good reaction considering theres literally 2 "corpses" (jotaro and pol) right next to a man covered in blood staring down one of them
There's a man laying down bleeding and covered in knives and one pounded into a wall, pretty sure the guy standing over them is getting arrested, maybe not charged but at least brought to the station for questioning. Or you know, he'll just kill the cops.
i always have a pet peeve with the camera going back and forth between expression shots, while someone is mid sword swing for example, and it makes it seem like the guy was swinging the sword for 30 seconds strait. but i loved your picture in picture method.
To this day this still my favorite last boss jojo fight. They battled in a manner where bought equally respected each other and played as carefully and as safely as they can because the know that a hit from each other can be extremely lethal if given the right opportunity. Just like a real fight.
This really shows how smart jojo characters are, like jotaro here for example, he's literally able to think and come up with a plan quickly while a fucking hundred year old vampire who can stop time (plus is also smart) is hunting him.
Now it felt much more intense. It felt like a real battle, where no one was just talking shit about "damn im so good" or thinking of how to make a new attack / defense.
these kind of edits prove two things fast fights with no filler are quick, sure, but very impactful. these characters feel powerful when you're not lingering on every individual move for five minutes and, silent characters whose mind we cant read have so much more menace. Both jotaro and dio come across far more intelligent just from the fact we see them act in response to eachother in real time. yea sure, walking you through their thought process has its benefits, but I think I prefer trying to deconstruct it myself
This is definetly only really good because we already know the inner dialogue, I'm glad they found a way to sneak in dialogue but at the same time, this is really intense :D

yeah, and this is an edit to show what faster paced fights could like. If the animators decided to do it like this from the start, I imagine it would be done better and have elements of the narration in it.
Piss off, if that’s the case, old shonen sucks. So much nothing was in that dialogue, it’s insane. The OVA, for all it’s faults, at least had better pacing, and made Dio feel like a consistent threat outside of killing two main characters, one of which was probably not still at his physical peak. He’s kind of terrifying there instead of a joke in the modern version. That ability actually felt more alien and mysterious, which you probably want for the man who is waiting in Egypt all this time as a vampire trying to fully take his mortal enemy’s body. Your standard as just so low. The best parts about those early shonen were the characters and how they acted, not how they talked necessarily.
No, the monologues just make it tedious. It's like trying to watch a movie, but every action is turn based and you get unskippable adds between every few attacks that handhold you as if you couldn't possibly deduct what is going on on-screen. It really kills the vibe when the fight abruptly stops mid swing, a stupid amount of exposition gets thrown out and then the some attack is thrown again unceremoniously breaking the weird freeze-frame. I absolutely hate shonen for it. I really DON'T NEED to know what the characters are thinking about 24/7, please let their actions speak for themselves.
