You can really tell Nathan not only has an outstanding grasp in how OCD works buy also a super talent for putting it into words that make sense to OCD and non-OCD sufferers alike. Just want to support him every way possible because he puts so much amazing and helpful content out there.

I am Sarah! The fear of skin cancer has terrified me for as long as I can remember. I am the person under the umbrella at the beach. Dermatologists have also contributed to my chronic worrying and OCD. Your videos help me reframe this and focus on enjoying life and the present moment.

I'm sorry to hear that! It's funny how OCD works and what it attaches too. I actually have a high risk of skin cancer, had an abnormal mole removed as a child, and have had to take lots of precautions since I was a kid (I have to bring umbrellas, hats, sunscreen to any outdoor occasion). But my OCD doesn't attach to it at all! I go to outdoor events all the time, just wear my required protection, I even go to the beach, I am just very vigilant about reapplying my sunscreen. Instead my OCD convinces me I'll die of any brain related ailment even though there's no history of it in my family. It feels like for me the less likely it is, the more my OCD gloms onto it.

Just want to give Nathan a shout out. I’ve been watching him for a couple months now. My improvement from just a couple months ago has been excellent. This video though hits me a little different I see so many correlation with my OCD and the example in the video. Mine was caused in a very bad way and it was not only OCD that had taken over my life but PTSD and extreme anxiety. Last year was one of the hardest years I’ve had but if I can be a testament that recovery is real I want to make it know that you can. That you will get through it but you have to be willing to fight daily. I also want to say put your trust in the Lord he will guide you. He knows you perfectly and give you strength to continue everyday he will deliver you it’s my promise and prayer for you all. May God be with you and please don’t give up. Keep trying.

I've had a MASSIVE fear of dying from rabies bc this one time this one cat wanted to mate with my coat and i have watched a video abput how deadly rabies was. the cat bit my coat (not even me) and the cat is STILL ALIVE AFTER 3 YEARS. no matter how many times my therapist tried to tell me the cat would have no chance but to die after max 10 days if it had rabies, i couldn't believe her. the sad thing is I LOVE CATS and I live in Istanbul. even after i got the rabies shot in order to get rid of my triggers the tought was still there. but one day I was sick of it and started petting cats again, I saw that when you pet it, I didn't die. so now i can pet cats again all I want.

I have this issue too. I'm terrified of getting sick or any life-threatening illness at all, but specifically Pancreatitis is the scariest. I explained to my boyfriend that my thought process is "Well sure, maybe it's okay this time, but someday it won't be!" His response was that, if something like that happens we'll deal with it when it happens. I'm so jealous, I hope I can learn to think like that.

Sir plz make a vid on how to avoid ocd while studying like when i sit to study a book, it becomes very difficult for me to even read properly due to ocd which makes me look at the words very carefully and pronounce them till it feels i've pronounced it correctly which is very tiring and exhausts my mental health to study more. Whenever making notes, i'm having to write it very neatly and perfectly symmetrical and even if there is a single mistake in the page, i feel the urge to tear the page and write everything again completely. It really is disturbing my studies due to which i'm having to avoid studying most of the time since it gives me very much anxiety 😥😭

When it comes to facing my fears in life, I do my best to control the things that I can control. For example……my sleep, diet and how much exercise I get. I simply just do my best to put myself in the best position mentally and physically so I am ready to face those challenges in life.

Hey Nathan thanks for your videos! It’s really changed my perspective on how I should be dealing with my ruminating thoughts. I have a question though. ‘Maybe or maybe not’ has really been helping me but I have this constant deep urge to ruminate. Like just today I stopped ruminating because I kept repeating to myself “maybe or maybe not”. In fact I actually felt happy and present for the first time in days. But for some reason I also felt uncomfortable with being ok… like I’m so used to ruminating that I can’t imagine not doing so. I also get scared if the negative thoughts will come back which causes me to ruminate again. It’s like an addictive cycle. What can I do?

Why go straight to not wearing sunscreen instead of telling the client to continue wearing sunscreen but remind themselves that sunscreen works and makes it safe for you to go outdoors in the sun? Or maybe drop down from 100 SPF to 50 SPF instead of going without? *Everyone* should be wearing sunscreen if they are going outdoors for more than a few minutes both to avoid skin cancer as well as wrinkles, sun spots, and other skin damage. Any dermatologist worth their salt will recommend sunscreen use.
I feel like this would be like telling someone with emetophobia (me) to eat expired food or food that's been sitting out for hours. That's just reckless behavior and I feel like it would backfire in the long run. The better way to approach things for me personally is to look at the foods I have "off limits" because I think they've made me sick in the past and slowly reintroduce them into my life, one tiny bite at a time.

For me, my fear is a failed relationship:
What if God doesn't want me with this man? What if I'm going to hurt him? What if I start a relationship but I'm not ready? What if I date him for awhile but realize I don't really like him and it hurts him?
For this, what would an exposure response look like? Would it look like dating even when I don't think I'm ready for one or when I don't know if I like him?
