Thank you both for this video. Very informative, factual and helpful. My wife and I will be traveling to Oahu soon, so this video definitely helps 'get it started' the right way. 🙂
I was wondering about the options we would have once we arrive. I just looked up rental cars at the airport and it was $899 for a week. You guys are right on time with your information. Mahalo 🌺🤙🏾🙏🏾
My first time is this summer 2024. I am staying at royal groove. My plane arrives at 5 am.I plan on taking a Uber at that time. Cause should not be busy between that time 5 & 6 am in the morning.
Another great option is Turo. It’s like Airbnb for car rentals. We done it twice in Oahu, once in Miami and also when we went on a road trip from California to Arizona. We’ve never had a problem with them and their prices are great Also me and my hubby took luggage on the city bus in the past. Did we just get luck?
Thanks for this information! You’re so helpful. I may not mind going on that one hour bus ride just to get to see different people and different streets through out at a slower pace ☺️
They'll let you on the bus with luggage. Assuming you didn't pack 15 bags and 1/2 your furniture or something crazy like that. So they raised it from $2.50 to $2.75 since I was there. I learned something new
@@Livingtheglobe it's also worth mentioning that most every transit system in the U.S. that I've been on they make easy to figure out if you just use your brain for a few minutes. They do it that way on purpose if you don't understand English very well or you're a lot child you should be able to get around. Even my 12 year old nephew if he got lost he wouldn't stay lost for all that long. He'd find his way back to ware he's wanting to be before the end of the day. And considering you're on island all the easier. When I was like 7 my mother passed out drunk some place. I said screw this and I took the bus home. Back then it was tare the map out of the phone book and look at it. NOT use a phone. Ya I went home. And since nobody was home to tell me to go to bed I stayed up and watched night line. Well she comes staggering in the house still drunker than shit ( she'd managed to sobar up enough to 1/2 ass walk straight by then) inquired about what time it was.. and passed out again. I don't know how she got home ( prehaps took the bus prehaps somebody gave her a ride?) And it never registered to her that you left us ( my sister and I who was 4 at the time) downtown. Well actually we left her to her own device downtown. And took the bus home. Like I said I was 7 my sister was 4. We managed to get home on the bus just fine
@@Livingtheglobe and to add to my story back then it was $1 for adults and 65¢ for minors. Now in the city I grew up in it's $2 for adults and $1 for minors. Ware I live now the bus fare is $2.25. and I may look young for my age but I highly doubt any bus driver is going to believe I'm 17 years old and let me on for $1. I'm about double that.
@@Livingtheglobe you bring back memories $1 for adults and 65¢ for me back then. In 5th grade They raises it to 85¢ and raised the adult fare to $1.25. I remember when I was 15 they kept it at 85 ¢ for minors but raised the adult fare to $1.50. I left that city when I was 20. No price change. Went back 2 years ago to see some people I know from my adolescent. Like I mentioned it was by then $2 for adults and $1 for minors. Go figure they raised it with 12 years
I shall be at Waikiki on 8/14. My arrival is at 10.50, unfortunately, the hotel check in is at 3 pm. BTW, how long it takes to clear the custom and immigration at international terminal? How about the baggage claim? Is it a long wait time? As an American coming home, do I need any document?
Is the cost of Uber/Lyft from the airport to downtown Waikiki still $20-25 during this pandemic? I haven't used Uber/Lyft in a long time but I heard there isn't the pool option anymore
I’m going in 2 weeks...but the Uber/lift prices are apparently much higher. Shuttle option - do I need to pre-book the ticket or how do I use the shuttle?
Ala Moana Hotel Walking Tour | Oahu Hawaii ua-cam.com/video/hMoeVQRu0GE/v-deo.html you can consider staying here. 15 min from the airport in the evening
Uber prices vary too much from $25-$180 from the airport to Waikiki. The most reliable at the moment is charly's taxi $31 flat rate. Link in the description. Pre-book ahead of time
@@J10-f4s if you ever plan to go, get HUI (it’s through Toyota) it’s helpful because they have designated parking spots so you don’t have to worry about parking garages. I stayed at shoreline Waikiki and it was very close to it. 2 minute walk

Mahalo🌈❤️
what do u recommend for a family of 6 and needing 2 carseats if we aren’t planning to rent a car during our visit?
Def I’d say a van

Yes, before the traffic. Should be perfect!
I'll be there in February and this video was helpful. Didn't know about the luggage restrictions on the bus. Will probably rent a car instead.
It does allow a medium size suitcase onboard. Check out theirs rules and regulations from their website
Thank you both - this was very helpful. I"m traveling next month and now I know what to do - awesome!

Biki Bike, Uber & Lyft! There are also public buses and trolleys will start running soon
This is really helpful info 👍👍👌😊we will take uber or Lyft 🥰
Keep in mind prices now vary greatly! sometimes go up to $60 for no reason. We recommend to pre-book a taxi

Silly question. Going to Oahu next month, coming from Australia. Was thinking about taking the Uber option, does my Australian account work overseas??
No silly at all, and yes your Uber acct will work in Hawaii

yes, it is $2.75 Our friend just came to Oahu and he had a small carry on, it was no problem :)

Hi Just Do It Yourself! Safe travels and enjoy your walk from the airport to your hotel. Thank you for sharing with us!
We showed up with a family of 8 so we rented a limo it was cheaper.
Awesome, Cheaper in what way exactly?
I discovered this in PHX when I was a student, returning from a flight. Riding in style for less, haha!
What limo company?

Uber cost me 60 to get to my hotel on waikiki
It all depends on demand and traffic. Prices are not guaranteed and vary. Every time we ordered Uber it was under $25
Renting a car at the airport is not Cheap! Renting at a local car rental is much cheaper!

Lyft or uber it is...lol
$$$$$$ a lot has changed in 3 years...
I will just call Ige and he will send Josh Green or Blangiardi to pick me up at the airport in a moped.

Call an Uber. Believe me I live here.
Exactly what we suggested unless you have just a bag then the bus is the cheapest way.
