@@YestoHawaii can't wait to watch it! I'm taking my son for his 13th in July. Booked my Chief's luau tickets based on your video! I'm looking for kid friendly scuba dives and parasailing near Waikiki.
Miriam what do most people do when the hotel check out is 11:30 and the flight out isn’t until after 9 pm and they have all their luggage? I was thinking we could go down town and go see some last things we want to do and go out to eat. I just don’t know what most people do. We won’t have a rental car. Any suggestions?
Most hotels allow you to leave your luggage at the bell desk. A popular option is to do a sightseeing tour - it fills up the day and is a relaxing way to see the island in A/C. There's a few that last 8am-5pm which works for the 9pm flight. Another option is a beach day but I'd double check with your hotel if it has an amenity room to shower before your flight or if you'll have access to the pool still for showers. Downtown Honolulu is a good option too but most stuff wraps up around 3/4pm. That options works but you'd probably end up being sweaty from walking around in the sun all day before your flight. Same as the beach day option - check with your hotel if you'd have access to showers.
It's possible. Here's a link for exact luggage dimesnions: www.thebus.org/howtoride/RulesReg.asp. Keep in mind some seats don't have space underneath (ex. seats that are on the wheel area for higher buses).

Great info, thanks! My dilemma in trying to keep costs low: plane arrives at 3:54 pm, the Waikiki AirB&B I'm using charges an extra $45 for check-in after 5pm. Obviously The Bus is out. And of course it's the start of rush hour. I'm thinking maybe a shuttle, if there's no waiting. Haha, should be fun.
Try Uber/Lyft too! Rates vary but always good to check when you arrive. There are some shuttle companies at the airport too that can take you to Waikiki without a reservation needed. If you're a solo traveler, that might be a good option so you have Uber/Lyft and then a shuttle as a back-up plan in case the price is on surge pricing.
Most shuttles from domestic flights will meet at baggage claim for the flight. International travelers may have a separate meeting point after customs. I would still recommend to still double-check with whichever shuttle company you book where their specific meeting point is (in case it is different) and ask for a direct phone number for shuttle dispatch so you have a direct number to call if you can't find the shuttle driver.
Hey, gotta weird request. How about visit the places in the opening title sequence of the original Hawaii Five-0. I know the Ilikai, punch bowl, Palace, etc.
Good idea! This might take some time to research and put together though but might do that in the upcoming videos. Pretty cool if I can film it just right!
I fell in love with Hawaii watching that show as a kid. Was glad to be there for a couple days in the 80’s while in the Navy. Can’t seem to get back enough! 🤙🏼
Can you please provide some flat rate taxi companies names? Also are the Uber/Lyft prices that you provided for one person? How would it work if 2-3 people are travelling? Thanks!
Charlie's Taxi is a popular one. TheCab also offers flat rate for the airport. Uber/Lyft are rideshare apps for the entire car (similar to how pricing for regular taxi works) which will usually seat comfortably 3 guests with the driver.
Hi, I need your help! There seem to be a lot of trolley companies in Waikiki, which is the best? Lea Lea Trolley, Waikiki Trolley, etc. some have 3 lines, some more like purple and green. Can you get on any bus? Are they the same company? Which one is best? We will not have a car in Waikiki but would like to see the sites.
These are all separate companies. It really depends where you want to go. The Waikiki trolley is a popular one that has multiple lines (Blue goes East, Pink is Waikiki, Red is Historic Downtown). If you're looking to see the sites outside of Honolulu, such as the North Shore, and you won't have a car then an island tour might be a great option. They are usually full day (ex. 7am-5pm) and will take you around most of the island in one day.
A while ago... 1971- 1973. I was in the Navy and a car was out of the question at that time... I had more fun on the weekends at the Ala Moana Mall, they had the best Dance show on Sundays..... I also remember catching the evening 747 to LAX on Fridays and back on Sunday night... cost was $30. round trip for me and I did it every month for two years.😁and again just a quarter from Navy gate to HNL.
Check thebus.org/ for the most updated bus schedule/timetable. Keep in mind, you cannot bring luggage on the bus - only whatever can fit on your lap (ex. backpack).

We go to hnl 2 to 3 times a year and have used the city bus… backpack and and duffle works for us… we save on parking fees and we’ve even used d bus to go around town…

I know it’s the link. Having hard time finding it. What limo company do you recommend? Thank you.
can you store carry on luggage smaller than 22'' underneath the chair if it fits?

Does the city bus take credit cards?

Great video! Is 7:00 pm in Waikiki usually a surge time for ride shares?
Hi which Shuttle bus can you recommend we use to use Ohana transit they were 10 doll each to WAIKIKI but think they not running now .
There's a few options. If you're 3-4 people and flying in during the day (not rush hour), it might be better to do an Uber/Lyft or a prebooked taxi.
We only got carry on way over so we will use The Bus and get Charlies taxi on way back with luggage
For the Shuttle option - where do you catch those? Ours will be either Roberts or Enoa.

Fort the bus, do you think a carry on will be ok?
You can if it's within a certain size and can fit on your lap or under your seat. Here's the specs: www.thebus.org/howtoride/RulesReg.asp

I used the busses from the base to all over downtown.....even to HNL Airport........ COST .25.
Oh wow! What year was this??! That’s amazing!

How to travel from HNL to Weikele Outlets during Stop over?
It's about a 45 minute drive from HNL to Waikele Outlets. It can be 1.5hrs though with heavy traffic, depending on what time of day you're going.
Hi Miriam, if I rent a car at the airport for like 2 days, can I drop it off in Waikiki or do I have to go back to the Airport to return,it?
Most rental agencies allow alternate drop but will charge extra (usually $50-75). I'd double-check with the rental agency though!
We have a 4 yr old, will she need a car seat for taxi, Uber and Lyft?
I think so. Here's a link to the government website for car seat info: hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/safe-communites/child-passenger-safety/
Is there a Flat rate taxi company you recommend from Waikiki back to the airport
I've used TheCab with their flat-rate at $39. Charley's Taxi is also a popular one.
Which flat rate taxi would you recommend??
There's a few options. Charley's Taxi has a flat rate option. TheCab also does a flat rate Waikiki to Airport if you ask for it in advance.

OMG I lived on Oahu back in the 70’s and what has happened to the island? It’s like New York! Sad 😢
Sad?
I been in Hawaii 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
🤙🏼
Do I have to take my kids car seats with me or do they provide?
For the limo, you might be able to request one. Taxis don't provide them though.
Can you buy a day pass on the bus ?
It's switched to the Holo card: www.holocard.net/
