Good video - but you didn’t mention the most immediate change - starting Jan 8, 2025 US citizens traveling to the UK will need at ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization).
If you are flying to UK and then Eurostar to Paris, will you need to apply to UK for ETA and then France for Etias? Or does just applying to UK suffice?
@ I’m not an expert but I strongly believe you need both - you will need ETA for the UK and EES (moving to ETIAS in the spring of 2025) for the EU - 2 very different zones now…

LOVE the luggage tracking. In December 2022, Air Canada lost my luggage checked for a 10-day trip from Toronto to Vienna/Bratislava. After returning to Toronto in early January, having worn my airplane clothing for the whole trip 😞, I was told my luggage came to Vienna the very day I left -- and that there was no way for the Toronto airport to get it back. Fully one month after it disappeared, it was located in Montreal - not a stop on my itinerary - and FedExed back to me. Air Canada did give me a cash award for expenses and several travel vouchers, and they were always very helpful, but still -- a month without my luggage and everything in it!!
AirTags are a gods end! I know exactly where my luggage is. Once fly Austrian to EWR and could see while taxiing that, no, my luggage was in that building over there... I knew what was coming even though the crew lied to me and said they confirmed that the luggage had been loaded (how??). Other times I had even bluetooth connection with the tag, knowing the suitcase is on board and probably below me. Since I am not mostly traveling with carryon I still have it in my carryon, back pack, got one in my wallet, one in my car. Highly recommended. .

Very helpful stuff. I work for an airline and travel as much as possible. These are good to know not only for vacations, but as a staff member. While it’s probably going to be a bit of a hassle getting used to the changes, as long as it benefits more people traveling it makes my job easier.

The automatic refund for canceled or delayed flights is a great concept. I'm a bit skeptical about them having to refund if it is due to the weather. In the history of commercial aviation crashes, a high percentage were caused by pilots trying to push through the weather or rushing to beat the weather or even pushing through it to land at the scheduled destination rather than divert. This new law is only going to make that pressure on the airline and pilots worse, knowing they'll be refunding entire flights full of passengers. This could easily backfire into loss of life, trying to push a little too hard to avoid that financial loss. I fly 30-35 round trip flights per year for work, and I am perfectly fine with a delay or cancellation due to bad weather or maintenance issues. My life is worth more to me than getting anywhere on this planet by a certain time.
This is also my concern. Weather IS out of anyone’s control and flyers should expect it. To add pressure to airlines and pilots to make decisions that could be riskier is a bad idea
Thank God that is changing. I had a nightmare situation going to Copenhagen via Toronto, starting point San Francisco. My Canadian flight was no longer available, not running anymore, but I was still sold the ticket, no notification! I found this out while checking in at SFO! I eventually got a refund thru my credit card company 60 days later...
@@marisaflores-march7112 That's a pretty extreme situation, including deceitful business practices by the airline. I would even say it was borderline criminal on their part. Then you can’t call anyone you have to fill out something online and they only communicate with you through email. I followed my Tagged item out of the airport and into some neighborhood in Oakland, California, therefore never retrieving it.

The only answer is check before you travel and keep checking for changes. I assume that this site, and others like it, will publish a video when there will be an official date.
Thank you. Is it your understanding for Americans traveling to the Senhgen zone, they first have to apply to ETIS and after approval, then buy tickets?
Never understood the real ID (I do have one) but isn't the id they gave me before all this real? I had to prove who I was. Only difference is there's a star on mine with some hologram security features and it sounds like metal when you drop it
They already have a ETIAS type system for the Schengen state to travel to the US, this year 2024, called, ESTA, Electronic System for Travel Authorization.
Ok thanks very much❤
Good morning from Canada 🇨🇦…I was wondering if you know that the UK 🇬🇧 also has a similar visa you must have to enter the UK even if you’re just entering the UK on a connecting flight ✈️. They have an app you can download on to your phone.📱..safe travels. Cheers 🍻

Then Southwest Airlines better fix their system for lost items. I left an iPad on the plane once you get off they don’t let you back on even though I had just gotten down the jet bridge. Then you can’t call anyone you have to fill out something online and they only communicate with you through email. I followed my Tagged item out of the airport and into some neighborhood in Oakland, California, therefore never retrieving it.
Automatic weather refunds initially seem beneficial, but airlines tend to proceed with flights in inclement weather, resulting in reduced safety. Thank you for sharing💕
Are these all only for US citizens ?
Does the new DOT policy applies to international airlines like Lufthansa and British Airways?
I am going to apply for my first ever passport in the US. Do I need my marriage certificate as well as my birth certificate to show my name change?
What about the states other than Michigan or New York that issue enhanced driver’s licenses without a star in the upper right hand corner, such as Washington State? There must be other states that issue enhanced licenses without stars besides Washington, New York, and Michigan that you didn’t mention.
I did my online 4 years ago! This is nothing new
I don't have a star mine says federal limits apply I'm in Washington state
Many parts of the world it’s almost mandatory to carry your ID on you at all times, and it’s just being implemented for domestic flights in the US? Wow.
How about stolen item from their staff?
ETIAS will never happen. Europe is a mess. It was slated for 2023. Then early 2024. Then November 2024. Now 2025. It won’t happen.
Is there use of airtag if I don't use apple's phone or pad?
You are still stuck without your passport if you do it online. If you submitted online it becomes invalid. Check out the rules.
can you add countries that you cover in your video title?
My ETA to the UK took a minute to be approved
ETIAS is not implemented yet but you can apply now?
I wonder if the automatic refund now negates those double value vouchers they offered.
