In this tutorial we will be covering deep dubstep bass sound design using Ableton's Operator. Leave Vital on the backburner, because Ableton stock has more than enough for your sound design needs.
With four oscillators with unlimited FM potential, you'll be cranking out insane basses like a madman.
Tweak your levels, coarse pitch, change your waves or draw them in, add distortion and filtering, and/or add any stock or third party effect and you'll never be short of inspiration.
Add some volume automation and a bit of reverb, and you're in dubtown.

Bro please never stop. i will support you!
Dude your free packs on your website are insane, plus you helped me get operator sounding Naaaaaasty. Great tutorials for someone with light DAW experience looking to get into bass. Def coming back for the paid packs and a lesson or two once I get my Ableton legs under me. THANK YOU!
thanks for the inspiring & kind words
@@BuntingMusic I 100% do want to come for a lesson. I just don't want to waste too much time being super slow with all the Ableton interface while I've got ya on the clock. IK if I give it a little more time to learn the basics I'll get much more out of the lesson. I'm heading to Scamp music fest next week. Sometime soon after that I'll be in touch bro.
ur tutorials are top notch!

The looping envelopes can help make some really nutty shit. Especially in conjunction with the time knob

Este canal es lo mejor alvvvvv
We are definitely excited starting witn a sin wave 😂.
You still make music? Im late to the Bunting party but looks like you stopped doing tutorials. These have been super helpful tho man, bless up and down and all around
LETS GO MAN!!!
It’s crazy because I finally discovered how to make great dubstep sounds using stock logic plugins. Seriously I’ve been using stock synths over even Serum lately.
Love the videos man, will be scheduling a 1on1 soon!
dope tutorial bro
every minute watching i'm just getting more n more excited hahaaha
YAY Instant Sauce! More Ableton native pleeeeeeeeezzzzz
you legend
would love to see some serum tutorials
To the stratosphere!
Love it
Well this video change everything :o
sick
Damn dude I actually personally know Molokai and this is sick
BROOOOOO YESSSSS
Man you would make some sick sounds in bitwig
wow ok I didn't realise it could do all this!
Yussss!
Wish there was an option to triple-like this video. Mind. Blown. ...BOOM
Godly
Oooo baby
I knew all of this stuff in Operator but wasn't using the FM nearly enough I've been relying on straight sine and harmonics with Ableton Fx this is dope
I see the name Molokai, and I would just like to say that I consider Molokai the KING of deep dub lol. Quality very high
You should do a clozee tut
Operator is the reason i bought suite
Your content is sick asf. Appreciate your help on my journey through ableton.
You put reverb on the sub??? Shouldn't you duplicate operator then throw the reverb on the duplicate that is eq'd without the sub frequences so you don't mess up your sub? asking for a friend.
yes
Its what the people need
we wamping in here
can you do more operator videos on can other styles like hapa and spicy bois operator? :3
❤️🔥❤️
Best part "Look me in the eye and tell me ain't fat" 🤣
HERESY!
What are those knobs and what would be the equivalent in Sytrus? (FL Studio's Operator)
can you do a Ternion Sound episode?!
“So we’re already excited 😐”
looked you in the eye but could not tell you it wasn't fat
Know of any mixes with this type of dubstep sound?
2023, Black 🖤 Friday panic setting in and 90% already paid for Live suite and never opened operator 😂🤙🏽🐓
yo how did you make that kick
Can you midi map all the knobs where I can put them on a controller?
yes u can midi/macro map any knob in ableton
@@BuntingMusic alright then I will make it an analog syth lol
Can somebody help me out? I cant get a constant bass note playing like he does in the video. Ive tured up the attack and release on everything, messed with the phase, retrigger, everything, still have a clicking sound at the beginning
check the filter envelope as well
Whenever I use operator and put a note down, the beginning of the note clicks. how do i fix that?
add a small amount of attack and release to the volume envelope
@@BuntingMusic thank you! ill go ahead and try that
did you know you can set the key of the corpus by syncing it to the track?
big if true
ok but how
bro you can't just leave us like that >:(
@@BuntingMusic in case you have not found out by now: click the little arrow next tothe yellow "device on/off"button. you then get to see an option to actiuvate midi input(actually you can put in any midi track) as well as some options.
@@liesoid you too, if you haven`t found out, check my comment above
Hail Lobster
I'd give it a like but its at 140 ;)
Your default operator preset is different to the stock one so 1 minute in I'm unable to replicate the steps
Dat boi is moist 😂
dude i don’t want to be a downer but unless i misunderstood what you said you’ve got the signal flow backwards on the algorithms it goes from the top down with what modulates what. I’ve picked up a bunch of tricks from you I wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t tell you
brah.... yaiii
It sound like dubstep .... FROM OUTER SPACE!!!!!
Isded haha. That’s a local homie love him
followed the steps exactly but sounds super off still.
or ur money back
