I bow down to you once again oh mighty lord of sound design 🙌🙇
And that modern talking at the end cleansed my soul.
I learned so much about Ableton from this one video
true haha
@@bartoszjanprzybyszewski1891 tru x2
Same. I'm like, "Oh, so THAT's how the ADSR envelope in Operator works." and "so THAT's what Multiband Dynamics does!"
Yeah, I learned the difference between a freeze 'n drag and a resampling track. Very useful!
@@altgraymedia3655 i actually resampled most of my sounds and now i learnt the difference
The thing that blew my mind was that he was using the same transient for the kick and snare, adds continuity between the hits and glues the sounds together more!
I never thought of using a frequency shifter to transpose the snare. Absolutely ingenious stuff. Your tutorials are super helpful.
hey
This is the only snare tutorial ive ever seen where it already sounds great at 3 minutes lol respect!!
Holy moly. As of writing this, I'm 7mins and 23 seconds in, and I'm SOLD. This is awesome!
It is such an honor to get lessons from you AU5, i've been following you're music from quite along time and it is the most epic thing ever. You are the biggest inspiration for me to make Electronic music.
Thankful for sharing such rare knowledge.
#Respect !!
My man, this is the best tutorial I watched. And over the years I watched thousands. Your technique is very clean and uncomplicated. And the video is very rich of alot of information and tips. Cheers
Dude I cant thank you enough for these videos. I know as a producer its hard to give away your secrets, I have so much respect for you giving others the opportunity to learn from someone like yourself. Stay awesome.
One of the best drum synth tutorials on UA-cam.
Honestly, I've seen hundreds of Ableton related vids, this hands down the best! Definitely the most informative, simple, comfortable to follow and interesting all together.. thank you so much bro
Dude the world has been waiting for this tutorial ever since you came on the scene. Amazing.
saw this tutorial, made two projects for generating kicks and snares, and have never looked back on the cancer known as cymatics ever since. thank you so so much!
note: all of this can be replicated using sytrus (and serum for the consistent noise transients)
lmfao why do you hate Cymatics this much ? XD
I know that Au5 > anyone else, but Cymatics sometimes have some dope samples !
@@oxymore13 cymatics makes you rely on others sounds, making you music less unique, its generically better to make your own sounds
@@notrogueking I never pretended that Cymatics are the must have, I just said that it's good to have some samples when you are too lazy to make yours, but I don't use really more than 3 cymatics samples per track haha
@@oxymore13 Yeah, I totally understand, I usually cant be arsed to make hi-hat samples so using Cymatics and other sample packs isnt bad, its just generically better to make your own.
@@notrogueking fully agree :D
Your tutorials are hands down some of the best i have seen. Keep up the good work!
I've never seen such clear instructions in an Ableton tutorial. Please keep making these! Even if you were to set up a Patreon or something, I'd donate to keep these coming!
0:00 Onwards talks about making a snare
15:40 Onwards talks about making a kick, for the most part I believe
Leaving this comment for myself & for workflow purposes! Hopefully it helps you guys out too!
the modern talking at the end XDXD
Awesome! Drums synthesis is something I think I widely overlooked in EDM production, and I personally do that all the time.
Great tips and ideas here - thanks, Au5! :)
most in depth snare synthesis tut ive seen. ur vids are always exciting!
OMG AU5 I love you thank you so much for taking the time to explain the science behind what you do, it really separates you from all those 12 year old youtubers who just use samples, slam and eq on it and say they made a punchy drum. Saving my ass once again au5 thank you!
5 yrs later and still some of the most relevant tools for drum design. Austin you’re a god amongst men
✋😔🤚
Dude. Wow. This was amazing lol. I loved the part where you said, "I'm getting a little carried away" I thought... What?! No keep going! You blow my mind with the possibilities and ideas of using different stock plugins. Just.... Wow. Thank you! I'm subbing lol
Man this is the absolute BEST drum sound design I've done up to date. Thanks so much. Cheers from Madrid.
Dude, you already have the best production tutorial series on the internet
I have been using Ableton for almost 10 years and I never knew you could freeze a track and then drag and drop it to audio without having to flatten it. Absolutely incredible tip there
Best tutorial I've ever seen about this topic. Thank you!
never gets old... ty you helped many producers grow and develop their own sound design skills 🙏
1:15 Let's tune it to 200... *subtle Terror Squad*
This is the best kick drum tutorial in youtube
You have no idea how much this leveled up my drum game! THANK YOU!
thanks for this awesome tutorial! one of my passions is drum synthesis and i never thought it would possible to get such an awesome snare with just one instance on Operator (i spent many hours experimenting with okay results, but never anything that good). You made me fall in love with Operator again! :D
Simplicity and optimization from the start is key.
@apoplexia same here. same meh results for ages and one video does this to me. i need a visit to the psychologist. thank you au5. for that and for the comment above...
Amazing work. I've never seen such a good explanation on drum synthesis. Very good work, and thanks for sharing!
This opens a whole new door to drum synth sound design for me. Thanks so much for the wonderful tutorial!
cant even begin to describe how thankful I am, great video thank you for taking the time!
So happy you're doing these tutorials for us.
I highly recommend school of bass. For me worth every penny. Money well spent. I myself have to watch though it several times to fully understand but any time I’m stuck it’s my go too.
This blew my mind. I've tried making drums in Serum, and just couldn't get it right. I think this will work much better for me. Thank You so much!
I swear you come through with a tut for exactly what i need to know at the exact right time 👌👌👌
Your tutorials are amazing! Please keep doing these!
Bought the school of bass and serum master class. Craziest shit ever.
The best I've seen or heard...HANDS DOWN !!!
au5 just also secretly dropped the secret recipe to the Pan snare too.... WE LOVE YOU AUSTIN
The best tutorial...Au5, you are great !!!
I hope you continue these; they are very well done and very helpful.

I just found this tutorial and i just wanna say thank you!! Been wanting tutorial on drum synthesis for so long but i just could't find one, until i stumbled upon your tutorial. Thx so much dude
Absolutely brilliant ideas. Thanks for sharing
Amazing! This changed my life... thanks!
Wow... Just wow. so much info to take in and love the depth. Thanks dude
this was immensely helpful on so many levels. thank you so much
This is just amazing. Thanks for the tutorial
I stay creative and inspired because of video like this! So thank youu
Out of two dozen or so popular drum design tuts I’ve seen, I like this one the best.
As far as ideas go, I was super impressed with Virtual Riot’s snare tutorial with Serum. Since the envelopes are tempo sync’d he was able to lengthen or shorten the snare based on the bpm. Check it out if you haven’t seen it.
Thanks for sharing this! Really impressive!
most underrated sound design video on youtube
I'm finally getting around to learning how to do this. Thanks for sharing the knowledge Au5
fluid. best snare tutorial on youtube.
my drums gonna be so punchy now. One of the best tutorials
Oh Au5 I love you dude. I want you as a teacher, your explanations are so clear ;-;
i looped the intro sound atleast 20 times.. so smooth
This makes me miss designing drums using synths when I was in university and college. Might have to give this another go
I start to produce electronic music in 2014 , and i think it's time to make my own drums
What an amazing video. Thanks you so much
GOLD FOR NEW PRODUCERS
au5 always with that high quality
Such a helpful video. Thank you very much! 👍👍👍
This tutorial is just excellent, thank you!
Ohhh myy gooddd thank you soooo much, now I finally can stop relying on sample packs. Thank you!!!
Really nice tutorial. This inspired me to make my own drums and I'm quite satisfied with my snares :)
Please do more drum sound design tutorials like this! So helpful and interesting! Rim shots, hats etc would be amazing
Thank you!
I'm a little late to the party, but a good video for cymbal and hi hat sound design is Virtual Riot's Studio Time video on making your own drums, it's S2 E2 I think
Kick synth begins at 15:40
Thank you!
Thx
ty
thx
This tutorial is so we'll optimized for watching on mobile, thank you
Amazing video, very good and efficient approach on a well known technique! Refreshing!
Snare is awesome!!!
Total legend!
Its a very VERY HELPFUL video! Thank you so much!!
Wow, that's genius. Finally there's a great way to make my dream drum and bass snares.
I have Ableton Live 11 Lite so I guess I'll just try it with Vital and with free alternative to glue and multiband comp.
Crazy stuff. Many thanks.
This was great! Thanks Austin
I was actually looking for a tutorial like this about two weeks ago, and I did not find jack squat until Au5 uploaded this. I was looking for a tutorial on how to make drums from scratch, and holy shit does this help. Thanks, Austin!
Here's a good snare one I found recently ua-cam.com/video/l4EBpazl_68/v-deo.html
The guy uses Harmor there but even if you don't own that there's lots of good fundamental knowledge about snare design you could apply to other synths
Looks like he has kick tutorials too but I haven't watched them yet
Amazing as always!
serious production thank you
Love your videos great explanations well done Pro
Wow man. This is so amazing.
Hey! I was thinking of that idea to make Dubstep Snares. Good video!
Best operator drum tutorial
This is an amazing tutorial! Thanks mate
Incredible !
So good. Thank you!
Would love more tutorials on drums! You make a lot of sound design videos and for good reason but I for one could really use some help on how to structure drums / rhythms. Thanks for the knowledge!
Excellent tutorial- thanks!
Those transient🤤🤤
ty au5 this video was very helpful
This is damn impressive....you are an inspiration to me in making your own sounds!!
Awesome tutorial, thank you !
I found this method and the way you presented it much better than Bills! Still Love you both, thank you!
Great tutorial as usual
