It IS a Dogma of Traditional Catholism that suffering is part of life and can be redemptive to the soul who is willing to bear it. The biggest problem with Nietzsche and Dosteski was being outside its teachings they didn't understand its true teachings, which is a pity, because it might have made their suffering more bearable. A good video, thank you.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video, to Nietzsche I would agree with you, but i do think Dostoevsky does, perhaps in a more vague sense, accepts the edifying role of suffering
@@Phil4All I appreciate you replying to my comment. I think Dosteski's case, he rejected organized religion and ESPECIALLY Catholism and without a basis of True Religion, you suffer needlessly. Faith without Dogma is crippled. I can say this as a former protestant.
In regards to wanting to learn more about Dostoevsky's faith, which book would you recommend the most to accomplish that? Thank you for the video! This was very informative.
Hey! Ive read Notes from the underground, the dream of a ridiculous man, crime and punishment and the idiot (in that order). Would you recommend me read demons or the brothers k now? Currently I'm sold on christ as the ideal, (though I felt that Myshkin is an incomplete ideal) so could you please give me a recommendation on which of the two I should read next.
I would recommend reading the brother’s k as it can be seen as the culmination of his philosophy and theology. Demons would give you a partial view mostly of his psychology, but Brothers k is more complete

This was great, love to hear the raw ideas you’ve clearly mulled over for quite some time
Glad you enjoyed this
Thank you for that. I have only read Crime and Punishment up to date and found it very impactful. I hope to get through some of his other books too.

Not a lot of asian folk discussing western philosophy.
Am I mistaken, or is that generally true?
At least not on the youtube sphere

The Idiot and The Brothers Karamazov are the two which best exemplify his religious struggling
Start with Dream of a Ridiculous Man.
Thank you
Glad you enjoyed
@@Phil4All I just happen to be a Christian that is interested in reading Dostoevsky haha.
Well I hope you enjoy his works!
Thank you brother

AMEN! CHRIST IS KING
What book would you first read?
Have a longer video on this but I would say it should be The Idiot
Hey bro, so Dostoyevsky was catholic or Christian?
Russian Orthodox
Protestantism gives people too much certainty for sure.
