Navigating the Death of Universities
Hey! Ive read Notes from the underground, the dream of a ridiculous man, crime and punishment and the idiot (in that order). Would you recommend me read demons or the brothers k now? Currently I'm sold on christ as the ideal, (though I felt that Myshkin is an incomplete ideal) so could you please give me a recommendation on which of the two I should read next.
I would recommend reading the brother’s k as it can be seen as the culmination of his philosophy and theology. Demons would give you a partial view mostly of his psychology, but Brothers k is more complete
@@Phil4All thank you!
Conventional universities are responsible for their own downfall. They've become political and are used for social engineering. There is no benefit for the vast majority of students who load themselves with debt to pay for useless courses. They pay to have themselves ideologically brainwashed and end up being totally unprepared for the real world; they end up so poorly educated that they don't even realise it.
Enjoyed the talk a lot. As English is not my first language, what did he say about dealing with the contrast of believing in a good god and seeing evil in the world (roundabout minute 35)? Listened to it over and over again and couldn't figure it out.
A igreja católica é a verdade. amém
Uni's are there to steer, under the marketing slogan (or what amounts to the side effect) of expanding thought.
It can’t be just us and our book, we have to have a framework in which to practice our faith, that is the Church.
Just with regards to the moral argument, what is an 'objective value'? Like, what actually happens if you don't abide by it?
I would argue that the violation of morals is God’s judgement in the afterlife. Without said immorality there is nothing really to stop a Napoleon running around killing people
@@Phil4All But doesn't this just make God into a napoleon? Do what he says or else?
Doesn’t Protestantism continue the development of the church ?

some interesting points but the entire thing sounds like one of Glenn Goulds scripted satire.
It's a collaboration of young-minded thinkers having a conversation eloquently, but that "irony" or "parody" you think is just a lack of personality. As if this is not how they talk all the time, but how they would talk in say an interview, you put on a persona for the situation or dialogue. So, it's not fake on purpose or intentionally.
imagine being this much of a fucking loser AND only having 6k subscribers lmao
it took me a few seconds to realise this is a parody hahah
Great conversation! It's such a joy to hear earnest young men talk about culture. Also, it's lovely to see you two have embraced the Orient sun and gone for hikes 🤗 Josh, don't mind mean comments - your videos will find their audience.

For the average American, attending college/university has been reduced to a check-block in the pursuit of less mediocre paying jobs (without promise), and an expensive one at that. Unfortunately, JPA isn’t going to check that block (or replace the social aspect), but it potentially provides access to a certain caliber of education (exposure to diverse ideas and perspectives that encourage thoughtful questions - hence, learning how to think, not what to think) that many Americans otherwise aren’t privy to. Really enjoyed this very thoughtful commentary. Would love to hear honest feedback about the courses themselves, particularly from those of a truly well-educated background. If there’s any chance you could find the time …

So basically you’re a fideist. The problem with this view is that even if you define Christianity as merely a relationship with God, the only way you can know this, what it means, or how to enter into it is because God has revealed Himself. But you have to establish the nature of that Revelation for your belief and relationship with God to conform to reality. This is why fideism fails. It’s untested and untestable faith that doesn’t hold up to scrutiny and likely doesn’t conform to what God has actually revealed
are you actually serious? after listening I even doubt that you are actually christian. wtf did i just listen?
Nts 22:53
Amen 🙏
Wonderfuly insightful!
Thank you!
Christ continues to feed His visible Church with spiritual food- the Eucharist. Paul says the intimate relationship of Christ to His established Church as His bride. Its obvious that we don't expect Christ to have many brides. He willed and desired unity in diversity, one faith, one baptism, one fold one shepherd, yep one and only one. Someone sow the seeds of weeds in the wheat farm during the night... Today we have wheat & weeds in the name of biodiversity.

It is so sad how such a beautiful language is being corruputed and perverted. It's like tiptoeing through a field of cow paddies these days. We're bound to offend someone! And don't even get me going on the pronouns! As an English major, I find all this hijacking of the English language frustrating! Keep up the great work!
Linus and Clement, who became Bishops of Rome, are in the Bible. Let's see this in Irenaeus. First, let's go to an older list by Hegesippus and then to Dionysius' commentary. Philippians 4:3. And I urge you, my true yokefellow, to help them, for they labored with me in the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life. 2 Timothy 4:21. Make haste and come before winter. Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers greet you. Year 165-175 AD Hegesippus Upon arriving in Rome, I drew up a list of the succession of bishops up to Anicetus, whose deacon was Eleutherus. Bishop Dionysius of Corinthians For this has been their custom from the beginning, to do good to all the brethren in various ways, and to send resources to many churches that are in every city, thus alleviating the poverty of the needy, and granting subsidies to the brethren who are in the mines. By the resources that you have sent from the beginning, you Romans, maintain the custom of the Romans handed down from the fathers, which your blessed bishop Sorer not only preserved, but added to, sending a splendid gift to the saints, and exhorting with blessed words the brethren who go up to Rome, as an affectionate father does to his children. Therefore you also, by such admonition, have united in close union the churches which were planted by Peter and Paul, that of the Romans and that of the Corinthians: for both of them went to our Corinth and taught us in the same way as they taught you when they went to Italy; and having taught you, they suffered martyrdom at the same time. The blessed apostles, having founded and built up the Church, committed the office of episcopate into the hands of Linus. Of this Linus Paul makes mention in the Epistles to Timothy. He was succeeded by Anacletus; and after him, third among the apostles, Clement received the bishopric. This Clement was succeeded by Evaristus. Alexander followed Evaristus; then, sixth of the apostles, Sixtus was appointed; after him, Telephorus, who was gloriously martyred; then Hyginus; after him, Pius; after him, Anicetus. In ase you did not notice you mentioed Chatolic church in Russia???!!! It did not and does not exist there.
All of you from western protestants countries have 3 huge problem with reading Dostoyevski and other Russian writers.😅 1. Dostoyevski was zealous ortodox Christian. Not Protestant. 2. He lived in Russian empire. For that you should know Russian history and social problems at that time. One of the greatest is that it was still a feudalism in Russia at that time despite of 19 centary. And Russians were and still are very traditional people. At Dostoyevski 's time Russian society was veeeery different from western society. There were few educated people in big cities like Moskau or St. Petersburg. Even Russian nobility in the rural communities was uneducated and nerowminded. Their feet were in 19 centary but their mind was in 14 centaury. 3. You have to understand Russian/Slavic soul. Trust me you do not. I am from Slavic country, but I am Chatolic and we have ortodox Christians living with us for centuries. So I know what I am talking about.
Yes. Thank you. Praise the Lord.

Jordan Peterson is the definition of mental gymnastic hell. Therefore hell is real. Therefore it's an illegal chess move to deny the existence of god. Ugh.

4:54 i would reject agnosticism as sitting on the fence. You may be an agnostic because you do not care about the issue at hand, for example in politics you may ask if I am conservative or labour. If i do not care about being conservative or labour, it seems incorrect to deem me to be sitting on the fence. Also, one may remove themseleves from the debate because they feel themselves uninformed to a certain degree. They are not on the fence, they are again choosing to not partake. Contra, some agnostics may see an equal balance of reason for and against a proposition and would be sitting on the fence in that case. 5:35 I might also reject your claim that atheism is that 'there is not god'. I dont believe that our beliefs and stances can always be accurately portrayed propositionally, as your stance can be some attitude which arises unconsciously or from your feelings and seemings about the world
Chesterton defined "agnosticism" as "not someone who claims to not know something, but claims that no one can possibly know more than them."
If you were to die today are you 100% certain you know where you’ll end up? Jesus said: ““Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” John 5:24 NKJV Today is the day when you can be 100% certain you will go to heaven when you die All you have to do is accept this truth 1. Christ DIED (FOR YOUR SINS) 2. Was Buried 3. Rose Again ( The 3rd Day) Accept this truth and you shall not perish but have everlasting life by he who is The Life, Jesus the Christ!!! “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” John 11:25-26 KJV
every Sunday we confess and profess our faith, the CREED and your three points of what you claimed truth are with in our Creed from the beginning.
“The only lives that truly matter are those who respect the lives of others“.
Nice work guys, just finished the idiot myself. The ending left me in a state of stillness in mind and body. Something I found interesting (from conversation with ChapGPT regarding the book) was that unlike Christ, Myshkin had no true disciples. Other characters were always able to recognize the beauty in Myshkins soul but would never quite choose to walk that path themselves. Why exactly might that be?
Peterson clearly hasn’t read a single book or paper or SEP entry on contemporary philosophy of religion. He’s got that millionaire confidence to just talk about anything on camera with zero regard for how he might come off. He’s either doing it for money or because he feels like it. If the former then he’s lying and insanely greedy. If the latter then he’s honest but arrogant and unbelievably bad at seeking truth for someone who taught at a university like Toronto and should understand the importance of research and having your ducks in a row. If he’s so interested in arguments for God then why doesn’t read anything on it? Probably because it would be humbling to read others and he’s not remotely humble enough to do that. He’s not aware of how embarrassing his comments are to those who actually study this stuff.
We get it, you find obedience to the authority Jesus established in his Church to be cumbersome. You want to be your own Bishop/shepherd and just do what you deem to be right. Congratulations. You made yourself Pope, bro. I'm sure St. Augustine, a Bishop would now doubt support your view of a life outside the Catholic Church doing whatever and believing whatever you think the bible teaches like some hippy.
