Tanukis are made from Washi, mainly paper, and they are lightweight summershoes and ment to be permeable to water😅 so you can use them on the beach, sea, stream, even a puddle, but in the warm weather. Breathability is high with these shoes. They are also super fast drying, if you chose to use them mainly for water, you should use a different insole called washi. If you do not prefer them for water, you also can change to the wooly insole, which does not slide arround😊 or you wear them without for maximum barefoot experience.
Wildling have shoes, which are more water repellent for autumn and winter. Good Allrounder are Atmo and Fundo, which are also essentials, models they will keep producing.

I have 3 pairs of Wildlings...super barefoot and breathable. NOT WATERPROOF. I walk and run in them. No issues. White shoes in general will stain. Just throw them in the wash, and you're good to go. As for size. You typically need to buy a size down for these, and when washed, they will shrink a bit...so they fit nicely and snug.
The manufacturer tells you not to wash them for good reasons...
@Vlad the Manpire yep...I met with their rep at a pop up. Told her and she grimaced. But she did mention a wash in delicate cycle and air drying is fine.

I prefer sandals in all applications where these would be used. I use waterproof barefoot boots in the winter.
You know that they are made of paper right ? So they are anything but water resistant.
Quick question should you go for your true size like I am 10.5us or give a little more room like going for an half size up what do you recommend?
I would go with the 10.5! I went a half size bigger than I needed to for mine and now I wish I had a half size smaller.
@@simplelucas Well thanks for the advice I will see if my pinky toe goes against the toe box or if it fit nice for a vivos I recently purchased if is narrow for me I should probably go for a pair of wildling a size up cuz then it would mean I got a more of a wide foot. Anyway I hope they come soon I have been walking barefoot in the house for several months now so yeah .

@@lolipoppz They do fit but if you have medium wide feet you have to remove the insole because the width won't be good as it should same goes with the length it's snuggle so I would go for a 11us in that particular wildling shoe . Basically it's small for you if you have a medium wide feet hope it helps .
If they put something on the bottom to keep the water out I'd buy more than the two pairs I have.
Which size do you have in the Wildlings? Maybe you know vivobarefoot? Do you have the same size in them?
For Vivo shoes I’m size 45, and for Wildling I prefer 11. The ones in the video are actually 12 but they’re a little big, more like a 46/47 probably.

Does the gap on the bottom of the shoe create risk of your foot getting stabbed by a sharp object on the road?
No, because even the gap has a very thin layer on it.
Thanks for the review. I like the unique Wildling bottom of the shoe. It looks about as flexible as you can get besides walking literally bare feet, or in those socks shoes, but again I imagine they are far less practical for a mostly concrete environment.
I have a question what flag, or emblem is on the top of the shoe? I thought it was a German flag at first, but I caught a quick glimpse of it in your video & it looks like an LGBTQ flag?
Oh yeah! The little emblem you’re talking about is just a classic rainbow (red/orange/yellow/green/blue/violet) - from what I read on their website, I think the intention behind it is associated with pride/diversity like you guessed
That's pride. It's not the full rainbow. Pride is missing magenta for some reason.

I don't have this specific model, but my experience with a different pair of Wildlings is that the insoles slide around, so I had to take them out.
But if you are looking at Wildling shoes, you probably want ultra-minimal shoes, and without the insole, they are great for that!
If you love water bleeding through the soul into your sock this brand of shoe is for you! Talk about feeling bare foot. :I ... I have not found a water proofing spray that keeps my souls from getting wet.
If you own Tanukis, they are not ment to be waterproof, because they are a summer shoe. They have now other models, which are more water repellent, like Atmo, Arni, Fundo and Pegasus.
It like saying your butter knife can cut steaks 🤷♂️
10 years experience w/ barefoot shoes here. wildlings seems like a good company (fair production & all that), and I like the concept of the Tanuki w/ the paper material. To each their own, but personally I think they look like dog sh!t when worn b/c they have zero structure and just look sad and saggy. I'll stick to more fashionable options, or in summer to xero sandals or, you know, no shoes at all.
What's with the rainbow? Can that be removed without damaging the overall aesthetic of the shoe?
It looks like it would be really easy to cut it off - it's just an extra piece of fabric stitched on over the shoe.

I just ordered my first pair but not the tanuki niji because I don’t like the gay flag on a pair of shoes, I don’t see the need to incorporate this.
