- If you're not paying attention you might miss out on some of the most healthy, minimal, and functional sandals out there. Let's talk about non-restrictive, anatomical footwear that just might change everything for you.
I've been an advocate for Shamma Sandals for a long time (not sponsored) - check them out here: shammasandals.com/

The better something is for your health, the less "cool" it's considered by society. It's pretty fucked up when you think about it. I follow a lot of style channels, and, without fail, irrational hatred of sandals (when worn by guys) is a topic that comes up over and over again. I'm saving this video so I can reference it the next time I want to defend sandals.
exactlyyyy
Maybe the haters have shamefully gnarly toes they need to hide.
your videos are very thourough and brief. thankyou.
I lived 28 years mostly wearing sandals and never having a any feet related problem, i was convinced to buy a pair of chacos and in 2 months i strained my ankle twice.
which sandals were you used to?
I'm from Hawaii and have ascribed to barefoot running / shoes for about 14 years. I do have nice splay :) But flip flops without a strap in the back can cause foot problems. Especially heavy flip flops can cause the toes to curl with the constant unnatual grabbing. I've seen many messed up toes from this.
Loving PANTA sandals over in Europe, similar design to Shama and Earthrunners.
2 Weeks ago i get my first sandals: nallu Explorer. Really Nice. 3 years ago ive startet my barefootshoes journey... 1 year ago i throw away my last normal shoe (doesnt fit anymore). Im 38 now.. My foot is stronger then ever before.
Lol brother, you made me laugh so deep in the part where you say the name of the solution haha. Thank you!
I LOVE my XERO Z-Trails.
Some barefoot sandals aren't really all that wide. Xero's and Earthrunners, which are also too thick for my taste. But yours look wide and if you get the Xero kit sandal, a sole and a lace and a thing to punch the hole in the right place, the sole comes nice and wide so you can trim to fit. These days, I use that, untrimmed, with an Earthrunner strap.
Hey awesome video Lucas! Do you like shamma over earth runners? My buddy has some earth runners and said they are great but comfortability wise they could be better. So I’m glad I found out about Shamma from you. Anyways, loved the in-depth video, thanks for the help man! All the best!
I haven’t worn earth runners, but I’ve been really comfortable in shammas and like how most of them mold to your feet over time. Thanks for the love!
@@simplelucasWhat shammas for pavement running/walking? Please reply. I really like your review 👍
For running on pavement I would recommend the cruzers (less expensive) or the warriors (better tread). For every day casual walking my favorites are the super browns
love my shamma warriors, I wear them every single day (weather permitting- and sometimes not lol)
I love your videos, language, style, well all I guess related a lot w you when I started seeing your videos and how much we loved tradicional shoes like the new balance 500.. etc and minimalist and sudendly being in the position of having to choose what is most important.. I guess my question is: how can we say these absolute truth? Chacoss.. there are good, anatomical as well as Birkenstock and either of them is restrictive in the toes: Shamma sandals has now a model really similar to the chacos original.. (here I am not talking abt drop, or arch, or cushion) And abt having a over toes.. xero has several amazing models that are over toes.. other brands too and they are actually beneficial in several ways comparing to that one. I am not talking abt the high quality design and minimalist aesthetic abt multi million invested in research in these brands.. I guess I find myself looking at these small details and questioning.. what if Chaco would mass produce minimalist sandals..? How would the world be? Ahah I love the design and aesthetics world and am not sure if we have to pick to negate it in order of foot health.. anyway not a critic I absolutely love your style and videos .. Al my love sorry for my English
That’s a good point, I should have been more nuanced in how I made my point. I don’t think over-the-toe sandal straps will ruin the sandals by any means; I’m sure they can still be great for your feet. My main point was to defend and demonstrate the strength of the between-the-toe sandal, showing why that design is beneficial for the foot and not just a quirky design. Thanks for the love!!
@@simplelucas yeah yeah excatly! i guess i am reflecting on are the over the toes sandal straps really more fashionable or we were just more used to them beacuse they were the norm like chacos tevas etc..? and if shamma is the way to go for health, because anyway they look soo cool i guess people just double look our barefoot shoes anyway.. also flipflops are timeless and like shammas sooo what is it abt the barefoot sandals that is so wrong
Should people wear shoes with split toe socks in sandals? I don’t feel like exposing my foot to elements.
Nice
I actually think they look great very fashionable...but My sensitive skin is always injured by the thong part witch is mostly rough between the toe's.... doe's this shama strap as aggressive like most kinds? Do you know any model that's have a soft strap?
I used to have flip flops with a soft cotton strap not very durable but comfy... since i can't find them i only wear slippers
Xero cloud sandals and bedrock sandals both have a very soft thong between the toes. It is a soft double-strap (like a ring) that moves with the toes’ motion, so you do not feel it at all, as if it wasn’t there.
@@he1461 so i'l try them, thanks!
Uhh...the thing that separates thongs/flip-flops from true sandals is not the toe splay or heel cushion, it's the heel strap. Not having that strap makes you scrunch your toes up in between every step so the thong doesn't slide off. It's that toe scrunch that is so bad for your feet and walking mechanics. Shamma's are not 'thongs' at all, they are just normal sandals.
That's really the major difference. I mean, the name 'flip-flop' comes from the sound it makes when slapping the ground as you walk...it makes that sound because there's nothing holding the heel of the thong to the heel of your foot, and it 'flops'.
By the way, the word 'thong' meant a type of sandal decades before it meant skimpy panties. Vicky Secret basically usurped that word. :]
All true but...the "flip flopping" i believe do's serve a purpose of ventilation of the bottom of the feet by pushing sweat out...the pinching you said is bad for serious walking but for a short stroll in extreme heat and humidity flip flops are great for keeping cool (feeling and looking)
Why are these better than Crocs?
One summer I wore only a pair of crocs knock-offs without socks.
Long story short, polka dot pattern tan on my feet.
Never tried those. Went broke with four pairs of bedrock's, four pairs of Luna's and three pairs of zeros. Love them all! I might have a problem! Hate to say how many I have bought my wife, but she has sexy feet! Worth every single penny
I wear flip-flops just in winter. In the rest of the year I wear ... nothing ! 😊
You wear nothing? Wow, must be great not having to spend money on clothing.
Dear @@LucidDreamer54321 , I am a man who loves NATURE mother and enjoys going BAREFOOT.
- I don't like to wear shoes (any type of footwear - footwear, not clothing, or anything on my feet). For me, in bare feet life is much better (healthier, happier and more comfortable) than in shoes, being allergic at them.
In fact I don't hate shoes (footwear) - I just ignore this invention. And... I'm really ashamed to walk in shoes !
With the money that I would give to buy shoes, I can buy more useful things. For example a good food, colors for painting, a camera or video camera or books.
- For me, being barefoot isn't just a fashion statement: It’s a lifestyle, a way to express myself. So, I am a man with personality !
In fact, life's too short to wear shoes... 🦶🏼🦶🏼😊
You got some balls wearing those in public 🤣 , I low key think they’re awesome though Roman warrior sandals
Your favs look feminine…like for females!
