The older I get, the more I appreciate the kind of wholesomeness as I've seen from this channel and this fanbase.
We're just having some good old fun over here.
@@ConsoleWars And not only that, after so many videos, this channel has become one of the best for comparing ports. And i'm saying this while being very picky about such channels.
Exactly. It's refreshing after seeing the 1,000th "angry" retro gaming channel screaming edgy profanity for 20 minutes.
Pat is a good vibe, i never watched the channel with the other creator but i do dislike the hate towards pat. Dude is legitimately a fun reviewer and seems honest.
I'll watch this later
"Are we doing this?" Is the best name for a move I've ever heard.
Man hands has to be a close second 🤣
I've seen a movie with that title, and man, they do it... a lot!!!
Hats off to the use of stop motion in this episode! It's so hard to do, but so cool!
It was very hard, but happy with the way it came out
@@ConsoleWars totally worth it! You guys made a great episode here! Just discovered your channel recently and I'm hooked! You guys look like you genuinely have a blast making each episode and that only makes it more fun to watch! Keep up the great work! 👍👍😃
@@elgatofelix8917 That's what we're all about, having fun
I loved the "ARE WE DOING THIS" spin kick haha
@@ShinobiWan1 catchphrase
BTW, just so we keep count of how many times Sega and Nintendo has won throughout this series
Nintendo: 44
Sega: 41
This is actually tight!
But we all know that a lot of those Sega wins are intentionally wrong just to give the channel some parity.
That's a fact.
@@luismiguelsamayoa9405 I've spotted the Nintendo fanboy!
To be fair though, a few wins were given to Sega when I thought Nintendo should win, but I also think there were a couple of wins given to Nintendo when I thought Sega should win.
I personally prefer the SNES, as it's clearly the superior machine. But when it's clear that the game devs decided to make their games for the Genesis first because it's weaker and then port it over to the SNES, usually removing features due to there being less space available because the music samples and sprites inevitably take up more space, it's no wonder the Sega versions end up better so often.
@@DanVzare If my comment had been something against Nintendo, then a Nintendo fanboy would of course have responded by calling me a Sega fanboy.
It is an endless cycle.
On the other hand, it is admirable that many games are superior (in reality) in Genesis being a machine 2 years older, which only shows that it is a great machine very well made.
Like you, I can also see that in several videos various aspects (graphics, sound, presentation, etc.) were incorrectly scored.
But I understand, they do it to keep both "sides" happy.
Meanwhile, those of us who do not belong to either side are the ones who see these details and, of course, we will keep being called fanboys.
Does that include "wins" for Worse game?
Had the SNES version, still have that intro song stuck in my head all these years later.....
"Come on fight them if you dare! (ooh!)"
Gotta love that! I remember the first time hearing that after getting this game for Christmas and just being awestruck and highly amused at the level of humor and innovation in this game! It was the very first game I ever played that had vocals in the music (at the time I had not yet heard of the awesome Psycho Soldier song from SNK which is also great in it's own right, but not humorous like the Clay Fighter music). In fact, all of the music in this game is excellent and incomparable with any other game of that era (I'm referring of course to the SNES version - I did have Genesis in the 90s but didn't know Clay Fighter existed on Genesis - and after watching this video can confirm the SNES did a far better job in the audio department)
Sometimes, it's nice to just spark a bongload and listen to the music from Clay Fighter - especially the intro theme and the theme to Taffy's and Blue Suede Goo's stages - so whimsical and fun to hear even to this day!
I recall reading in Nintendo Power around the time this game came out that the theme song was sung by a band called "Euphony."
@@spindalis79 Nice! I'll have to check them out! Would have been cool if they had a sequel with music from Green Jello like the Maximum Carnage games too!
Reminds me of the Ballz 3D theme song, the Cannon Fodder theme song, and the Skate or Die 2 theme song...gotta love that digitized sample music!
Sega looks like he's not wearing pants in the claymation.
I get it, but my skin is darker
Or maybe you forgot to tan the bottom part lol.
I thought that exact same thing and expected that to be the punchline to the sketch.
@@ConsoleWars to be fair, it is the area that sees the less amount of sun light

@@alexanderjones3830 Pat! That’s his name. Thank you. It’s like getting an adopted sibling or step parent. Well never forget Greg but, you’re right. Pat has done an amazing job.
Where is Greg?
Whoa, the SNES ClayFighter intro is incredible! It’s so rare to see SNES games with any kind of lyrics and it sounds so clear.
It feels like this was LOOOOONG overdue. Ive been checking my feed every weekend. Happy to finally see something new.
Something new about something old and wonderfully nostalgic... Like Clay Fighter, CLAY CLAY FIGHTER!
get a life dude.
Dude, it was animated with stop motion. That takes a long time
@@EYTPS Yes it does take a long time lol
It was a loooooooot of work though
I was so jealous of the SNES intro song! Gah the painful memories
Should have had a mode 7 finishing move where Pat throws Dan into the screen Ninja Turtles style.
Good call
@RockManLP_Radio Yes, they have
During the final stop motion fight, the two guys in the corner trying to do inputs for special moves is on point! 😂
Glad someone picked up on that. We all know that struggle
"Does an echidna have a four-headed dong?"
"Let's do this!!"
Uh huh huh, you said dong.
I would like to see Action 52 NES vs Genesis, honestly the changes in the sega game could make it worst then the SNES
NES is worst overall. It has several games that either don't work or crash, making it the worst of the two.
Or Bible Adventures, lol! 😆
That stop-motion you guys did for this can't have been easy. It looks really good.
Shame we never got to see Dan and Greg's super moves, like the Processing Blast, or Mode 7.
Also MAN I wish ClayFighter would get a revival.
Stop motion was fun to watch, gave me a robot chicken feeling.
Awesome episode guys! Best part for me was the stop motion. Growing up I owned the Genesis version of Clay Fighter and remember being really let down that the sequel, Judgment Clay was a Super NES exclusive. It's pretty weird that the Wii got Sega's version for their Virtual Console though. 🤔
Im glad you enjoyed it. I was hoping it would be the part people liked best!
The sequel was going to hit the 32X, but was sadly cancelled.
Thanks for the episode! God I miss the 90’s so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent as always, I'd love to see either a Weapon Lord or a Saturday Night Slam Masters, matchup......or hell both! Are you doing it!?!?!?
you're right stopmotion IS fun...and man Clayfighter this game takes me back, heh the Blob I feel is the best character in the game lol, moment I learned how to do his buzzsaw I was sold lol
The SNES version is superior. Even though the game itself isn’t exactly a good game, I still love it. I used to play for hours with my nephew. I still pull it out from time to time. By the way, Taffy’s theme is classic. The best song in the game.
Most of these 16 bit console ports they're comparing aren't very good
Eh i like both. N64 version was crazy too.
@@SgtSega If only the N64 versions had Virtual Console releases.
@@TheRareware64 Especially the coveted Sculptor's Cut.

Although this game was never the best 16bit fighter it had a lot of personality. I remember renting the Genesis version.
I kinda like the music better on the Genesis though, except for the theme.
Solid episode guys! That last bit had me going pretty good.
Really enjoy y'alls creativity in this episode! Keep it up Console Friends 😬

Love your Console wars series! So much fun, creative and informative :)
The stop motion bits are legendary
Thank you! It was a loooooooooooot of work
Another great episode, loved it!
Finally a video game comparison to one of the most rarest video games out there just for the idea of the video game alone. Thank you for doing this video gentlemen.
Huh ? These games aren't rare . Maybe you're thinking of a different game in the same series on the n64 .
@@chrisr529 I was thinking about one of the series games, but I forgot which one is the rarer one to find.
Hope you enjoyed it
@@ConsoleWars Yes I did. Thank you for asking and for this amazing video.
I recently got the Mega Drive version. It's a fine game. I think that slightly tighter controls do make the Sega version a tiny bit better. But the Snes version really nails the clay look, it's not really there with Sega's dithering. And the soundtrack has more of a punch.
I was waiting for this one, great comparison as always.
Well, based on what you're saying and indeed what the video says, the Genesis version may play a tiny bit tighter, but I tend to judge games based on the sum of all parts rather than only one or two elements, as well as there not being any significant issues in one or more parts that are hard for me to ignore, so, as long as the SNES's slightly slower response doesn't actually make it play bad, I think the SNES deserves the overall win here. And we should never forget that the gameplay on Genesis in this case is largely dependent on you having to go out and purchase an additional 6-button controller or two simply to play the game properly, which is just not an issue on SNES--so that's a genuinely major feather in SNES' cap when it comes to 6-button fighters like this.
@@inceptional I agree. The Snes version is the overall better package. But I do believe that later Genesis models came with the 6-button controller bundled in. I could be wrong though.
SNES version wins for sure. It has better graphics, sound, controls that use all 6 buttons on the SNES pad, and even an opening theme with vocals!
No
The sound possibilities on SNES still surprises me. Listen to NBA 96 ost. That heavy guitar tune and drums, on a cartridge. It's real music. Right there
Sure that's why Nintendo put the Sega version on their E shop.
@@hemphog4570 nintendo are idiots
@@hemphog4570 Nintendo put the Snes version on other collections
Good Episode.I like how you guys added the stop motion in this episode.
Glad you liked it. It wasn't easy
If you look at the top of the screen, you can see just as much (or close to the same) of the background on the Sega because of the higher resolution it displays at. So the see through life bars on the SNES do not give you a greater look of the stage, in fact, they obstruct what you can see clearly on the Genesis.
3:53 proves otherwise. You can see the top of the boat's head, on SNES.

Thanx for the episode, guys. Luv the stop motion animation.
Thanks! It wasn't easy
Been a while since I've watched this channel, but the stop motion has already brought a smile to my face.
I really wanna commend you guys on those stop motion bits. I understand how absolutely INTENSIVE stop motion is and whoever you got to do these segments/however you managed to get them done yourselves really showcases quality and fluidity. For what is essentially just background gags for the video... It really displays care for the content you wanna present with this series. Kudos, pats on the back, Well done.
Thanks you! It was a lot of work. I (Dan) did all of it and I got really mad/frustrated a lot of times, but happy with the end result.
Crazy awesome work!
Awesome, very good Job with the Stopmotion-Parts :D
Thanks! 😄
All right! I had the Tournament Edition on SNES. It was fun and memorial. SNES is cleaner, but Genesis still has it good. SNES does have a better presentation. The sound department is a tie considering they are different consoles and have to work differently in some ways. The gameplay is the same. SNES is slightly ahead for the win. However, I can settle for a tie. It does seem like Wolfchild is next.

Oh boy guys, the attention to detail and the skits were fantastic this episode. Props on the stop motion too.
This was pretty good! Great stop motion! Success to you guys! You deserve!
Thank you!
Im gonna have to put in for MUSHA (Genesis) vs Super Aleste/ Space Megaforce for Snes at some point. Both Compile shooters in the Aleste series, both viciously defended and compared against eachother.
My guess is MUSHA
@@gonefornow5218 Same here, MUSHA has better pacing imo
Played MUSHA thanks to an unlicensed cartridge (an original copy is just WAY too expensive): couldn't get past stage 3 but it was pretty good. Super Aleste I have yet to try it.
Both crazy over priced.
I agree. That would be a great Console Wars episode
I listened to this while falling asleep. Dreamed I had a pizza with you guys. Even in my dream and all that weirdness you two were awesome, funny and genuinely good guys. The pizza was overpriced though lol

Ok, since you went THERE, now you have to do Ballz 3D
The Stop Motion inclusion was really cool. I expected clay models to appear but didn't expect you to go the full mile and animate them. I've got to agree with Dan about the grainy look of the Mega Drive version being quite charming; it looks to even add a bit of texture to a couple of levels. As always, a fantastic video!
