Clicked IMMEDIATELY when I saw Billy Strings😂 I’ve been going to see him for right at 2 years now and it’s the most fun I’ve had in a long time
You can probably best describe him as psychedelic bluegrass with jam band influences. I saw him do a 25-minute Turmoil and Tinfoil once…

Billy is a guitar virtuoso and best appreciated live...your instincts were correct on the progression bluegrass which many call jamgrass...Billy is doing a European tour with shows in the UK this winter...his live act is a can't miss and his music has changed everything about music for me and I'm 56. Thanks for the reaction.

Would love to see more Billy Strings on the channel. “Home” reminds me of Opeths modern prog work. His instrumental tune “Guitar Peace” is a favorite of mine. Thanks for sharing your reactions Jim!

Wow! Billy Strings. Never heard ofhim, but I will remember him. Don't know how to classify that first cut...progressive bluegrass maybe...but that second song was pure unadulterated Bluegrass.

That Billy Strings song is the best song of the 2020s so far. I heard it once and had to order the LP instantly that cost a fuck ton of money

Never heard of Alcest, but it’s great! There is just a hint of Sigur Ros in there. Mahvelous
That’s why I love your channel Jim, I hear stuff for the first time and 9outa10 of them I’m blown away by!
Also Billy Strings (Progressive Folk?)…unknown to me, but will now explore more.
    Eclectic mix, your followers.

Thanks Jim! Hopefully you and others liked Alcest.
Hadn't heard of Billy Strings before but I quite liked it. The vocals will take some growing on me to fully appreciate, but musically is very good. 2nd Billy Strings track sounded like more traditional bluegrass, which I actually do enjoy, even though I don't seek it out.

Glad you got introduced to Billy. For a special treat check out his on stage collaborations with Tommy Emmanuel, Marcus King, and Trey Anastasio

Thanks for this, Jim. Only disappointment was that I thought that this was an Alcest/Billy Strings collaboration which might have been something to behear. Whoever came up with the 'blackened shoegaze' label (for Alcest) ought to be sacked though and Billy Strings did indeed answer your 'progressive country' question. Great music is great music, whatever the label.

I like this Alcest song. But I remember having seen them live, after some songs there was variety missing, they sounded similar. And by knowing the spanish 1 person project named Exxasens, who plays this only instrumental, I feel like, one of this kind is enough ... so let's call it music I like but wouldn't buy ... there's lots of it, because the more you know and got the more picky I get.
Billy Strings is a similar case, kind of exciting to hear what's coming next, I would listen to it, if it's on radio, but it's not exciting enough to buy it 👍🤔

Never heard of these two as far as I can remember but I’m used to that on this channel 😅.
First song sounds very post-rock. I like this very much; great music and clean singing 😇.
Second song. Nice very light start. Further up it gets heavier. I like this song even more than the first one.
    Billy Strings.
1st song. He sings a bit off tone and his voice is unstable.
2nd song. Country and western tunes. This sounds a lot better. It’s a very good song but far away from what I usually listen to. Nice to hear once and awhile though.

Jim this is really dumb question because I feel I don’t know this, but how are you getting your Mac to screen capture yourself and the audio output? I still can’t figure it out 😂

I'm recording the audio from my microphone into Garage Band, I'm playing music files on a music player, and the camera is a stand alone Canon recording onto an SD card. I then have to import all three streams into Final Cut Pro and sync them together there.

@JimNewstead what's really frustrating is with windows. One program does it all, and with osx the supposed media creation powerhouse. That doesn't exist, instead it's a complicated involved process. Kinda makes a person why, but maybe it's due to the low number of Mac users.

@@KnightlyTruth the Mac is pretty awesome as a creative machine. I could technically do it all in one using OBS software, but it’s too complicated for me… I use it for streaming from time to time. The music I’m listening to is being played on the Mac, the microphone is being recorded on the Mac, and when I play records, the audio from that is being recorded in Quick Time on the Mac all at the same time. Even TV and movie production, audio and camera output are mixed together in post production. I don’t think there is a quality solution anywhere that you’re looking for. The only other option that does work is using Photobox on the Mac for microphone and camera, but you’ll still need to mix in the music afterwards.

@JimNewstead I think my issues stem from being a child of the 90s. I mean I've been using windows since 3.1 #old. So since I've gotten my MBP, perhaps I'm just slow on picking it up.
