You don’t need to press the locking lever to open the saw - only to unlock it from the open position. Also, important to note it is a traditional Japanese saw in the way it cuts - on pull motions, only. I own many Silky saws, and this exact model is my all-around favorite.
I knew about the cutting on pull only, but always assumed you needed to push the button to open/change position of the blade, so thanks for that 😊👍🏼 I love Silky saws. I only have 2, but they have been fantastic so far. Have a great day 😊👍🏼
They are still super sharp after continuous use. Sorry to hear yours have rounded. When mine eventually go dull I will try sharpen it myself or send it off to Silky 😊👍🏼

How were the top teeth. I used mine and noticed the teeth were rounded afterward.
