Hello Ara! I just purchased a Turkish Kanun and appreciate your video here about tuning. From what you mentioned in the video it looks like we are tuning chromatically starting with G on the lowest bass strings and moving up G-A-B-C-D-E-F-G etc etc to the top. My question is what are the open string tuning positions of the mandals? I can see in the video that you have some strings with one mandal turned down, others with two laying down, others with 5 and 6. Could you let us know what the standard positions are for the mandals while tuning? Thank you again for your time!

Hi Ara! Could you please share which tuning is used for Armenian style qanuns? Did some research myself but could not find the answer. Apreciate your input and greetings from Germany :)

Hi. At 0:52 you mention that you tune "chromatically", but aren't qanuns usually tuned diatonically on a C scale? The mandals are used to alter the notes as you play. I tune mine from low A2 to high E6.

It is spelled several different ways. Kanun, Kanoon, Kanon, Qanun, etc.

@@atopouzian Yes, of course, բայց ես կարծում եմ, որ քանի որ մենք հայ ենք, լավ կլինի` մենք տարածենք այդ նվագարանի հայերեն արտասանությունը:
