1000 miles in 7 weeks of lockdown, I'm well impressed with mine. After riding GSA's for several years I bought a 1050Xt and I am absolutely loving it. Handling, power is all just right.
I love suzuki.. true legend..💪💪💪💪btw very good presentation friend..👍👍 greetings from India
The grey color in the standard bike is Amaaaaazing
About time they stepped it up to compete... It looks great...!!
Amazing Bike!!! No brand gives you more for less than Suzuki!! Plus they are really reliable!!! Kudos to.Suzuki
👍👍👍
The v strom family is fantastic........and this new model has a super look and for sure is gonna be a terrific ride
This is leaps and bounds ahead of that last model. I had the one before that, 25k miles with no issues. I may make myself into the market, despite being happy with my modified Yami SuperT. Excellent work Suzuki!
Nice presentation , one of the best video on the new vstrom 1050 !!! Keep it up... very aggressive look , i like it 👍
Vstrom 1050 xt is looking awesome, recently saw it at motorcycle live 2019 here in the UK.
Very, very, good video, informative and didactic. Thanks
Just back from a 2500 mile road trip on the black 1050xt around Ireland and the UK. I upgraded from the 1000xt and the increased price is worth every penny. Love the cruise control and bike handles like a dream. Used all driver modes and TC settings and power delivery is more linear. Used the bike off road around Worthy Farm Glastonbury Festival site and the bike held up well. I’m 6’4” and this bike is brilliant for tall riders, really comfortable and only minimal wind resistance from the standard screen. Relatively low service costs and bulletproof engine make this a really good buy and would definitely recommend this bike.
Oh my God, love it!
Nice to see Suzuki continuing to use the motor designed in 1995. Nothing wrong with evolutionary design. It's a very effective mill.
Beautiful bike, love it
Nice Job!
Holy shit! The new VStroms just stepped up the game! I got a 2017 1000XT, thing's a beast but these new ones are next level. Handling and performance are top quality.
Man, that's a handsome bike!
I went to this motorcycle show, with one of the goals of test riding this bike. Suzuki only had the Katana's. The representative said, "This is what marketing wants us to push". So I elected to ride the Kawasaki Versey 1000.
These bikes keep getting more and more $$$$$ my next bike will be used recently or old
Suzuki all the way. Love it
Very nice.
Got it. Its so cool and so a nice bike to ride
Like from São Paulo
🇧🇷 Brasil
Reliable and smooth the engine that’s what is best on a Suzuki
Recently I test drove this, HD Pan America Yami Tenre 900 and Triump Tiger 900. all great but the Vstrom in yellow is mine
Katana style! I like it! 👍👍
Where is a decent bash plate to protect the exhaust, oil filter and engine? Otherwise looks very nice. Might have to get another one.
Can only move windscreen up and down? Madstad bracket allows that and angle of windscreen.
I was hoping Suzuki would make the advanced electronics standard like the BMW. With the more powerful motor than past Vstroms at under $15,000, It's a winner.
How did they make it 14Kg heavier, all they changed is bodywork (plastic) and electronics?
Hey TFL Offroad, how about an on-road review of this bike?
Una Gran moto......motore e ciclistica fantastica
You look like the tennis star, Sampras
I tested a 2019 V-Strom and I did not like the throttle feel, I'm sure the new throttle by wire will improve the feel. The 2020 features will have me take a second look at the V-Strom.
That's interesting cuz I began to appreciate the DL1000 throttle response after I test rode a new Tenere....the lack of cojones was under exhilarating!
@@rocketj7449 I would say the throttle input is a bit better than my 650GS, also no cojones, but I am so accustom to my S1000R that the DL1000 felt on-off at certain speeds/gear selection. I was surprised the V-Strom was not that much better than my 650GS...not saying the V-Strom is a bad bike, just one part that did not meet my expectations.
That concept 1050 is lush, I want to rip that in some dirt right now. There's a Dakar kit you can add for 4k I read but it isn't this one, Google it.
Do you know if you can buy that concept like that as is? One thing that always have kept me away from these were they always made me feel a bit sick when I look at them, finally sorted that with that concept xt1050, looking great finally!
Do you recall if the base model had the CC button on the throttle side?
What is missing in the "Dumbed down" electrical package?
The DR BIG is back! Just better...
I like the Yamaha from yesterday more.
I think that the new 1050 V-Strom covers some of the short comings the previous DL1000 V-Strom had in this segment. Suzuki needed cruise control they did it. More horse power could have been more. The price point should make this bike a good seller.
It needed this serious upgrade, as the Africa Twin just took it's market, when it arrived, but it should have had 130hp, from day one,
Paid $2200 for my new GT 750 in '74. Nice bike here.
What are thoughts on the forks? I had an sv650 and the front forks were so thin, weak, flexy that I sold the bike quickly. The new Vstrom forks look very similar
I put a fork brace on, transformed the bike.
I have a 2018 SV650 and haven't noticed any such issue...I'm 230 lbs. What I do notice occasionally on a roller coaster road is the front suspension struggling to keep up as it were. Suspect it's not an issue for anyone under 200 lbs. Never felt any oscillation carving corners though.
@@brookyonebrooky4016 My bikes before and after the SV were R1's, I may have high standards lol. Also, was 2-up on occasion, not the bikes specialty IMO.
@@crjmoto I have actually wanted to install a brace just to see if I noticed a difference. I may do that yet.
I still prefer the Yamaha Tenere 1200.
no cardan shaft ..
it looks like prices are going up and quality is going down
but a very nice look;
so the beauty will convince the buyers
Nice Suzuki
So good to see young guns still into bikes.
My 2003 SV1000 makes about 115-120hp. Why in 2020 is this (same/similar) engine only 105?
De tuned, My old TL1000r was putting out 147bhp (a little tuning) but the torque was 74nm which is the same as my 1050xt. They do have bloody big catalytics nowadays. Should be good for reliability.
Think bike is heavier by quite a few kilo,s plus peak torque comes in later so overall will not be as fast at lower & mid speeds on road.
Wish they would make an effort & manufacture a 1200 in similar format but lighter, a lost opportunity, maybe in future.
Looks like a radiator skid plate is needed!
Wonder where the V-strom/s is/are positioned on this list:
Honda AT
KTM 790
Yamaha XT700
BMW F850 GS
Think the strom would most likely be at the top of your list, for an all rounder, touring pillion etc
Well 3 of them are lighter and smaller, so hardly comparable, and the African Twin is a true adventure bike from the ground up.
John. I'm pretty sure you're right.
is this an automatic bike?
Wow...the 80s are back..
They didn’t do enough. I prefer the old headlight
Just a thought, it is 2020 for all intensive purposes, if you are going to use a screen it should be FULL Color TFT Display, the black and grey screen shouts 1990’s... C’mon Suzuki, you are charging almost 15,000 USD, my Triumph Street Triple 765 rs that was 12,500 has a FULL Color TFT.... Get with the game! The rest of the bike looks nice, but you are scratching at the Triumph and BMW, KTM pricing levels. You have got to up your game.
That front mounted adjustment for the windscreen and the monochrome LCD display (which looks like my 1982 calculator watch) are non-starters. There's just no damn excuse for those mistakes. The bike looks good and I'm sure it is nice, but for $15k Suzuki had best get their act together. SMFH
Not liking the hill hold control. My work van has that. What's next? Automatic transmission
I dont understand why they try to make this bike like an offroad bike when everybody knows its almost 95% for the road.. All because of the suspension it has..
Because they need the model, to compete with the Honda Africa Twin, which wasn't on the market for a few years, but now it's back taking VStrom sales.
Malcolm Nuttall But how the V is going to compete with the Africa? It has no chance at all.. Not even now, the africa is way better on the road and off-road..
I agree the whole bike needs to be built in two distinct versions, a road biased model and a long travel high clearance adventure model, aimed squarely at the Africa's market.
it depends what you intend to use it for. how much time on the interstates and what kind of trails or fields do you plan on traveling through? the v-strom is obviously a lot more road biased than the honda and a little cheaper. KTM is more off-road biased than the honda and a little more expensive. i've had hondas and suzukis and the preference really comes down to how the bike fits you and how you like the ride. i would be too afraid of having to find parts and fix the KTM. honda is the best motor company in the world and you pay a premium for that, but there is room in the market for yamaha, suzuki and the others. bikers are almost as bad as truck owners. everyone thinks theirs is the only one for everybody and don't even think about disagreeing.
Dario C. And 95% of owners will use it on road. I don't think they are trying to make it as off-road bike. I'm pretty sure this is better on road bike than Africa Twin.
Good looking bike, but too rich for my blood. All these people financing toys need to watch a Dave Ramsey show
1:16 - Do the people that design these bike actually ride bikes!? I can just see someone blasting down the highway trying to adjust the windshield on the fly. Trust me, someone will try.
Me first
😂 I would try , first thought I had if I would by one
It's a stupid idea, it should have a release lever on the otherside.
Thats why its like it. So many other companies have non adjustable but no one complains about them. Have you ever tried to adjust a GS screen at anything above 30mph?
For a road bike i think they missed on the dash, headlight and forks. The price went up and so did the weight, 247 kg or 543 pounds!
Weight virtually the same weight as old model, Centre stand and crash bars come factory fitted now on the XT, just take them off if it's an issue?
The aftermarket will come up with solutions for some of these things, and other bikes still suffer these oversights, but shouldn't for the prices charged.
I was at the show on sunday in New York. I was seat on all the adventur bikes except the new Triumph Tiger 900 because no triumph was displayed. My favorit was the Africa Twin Adventure Sport. I'm going to buy one when it's avelable in the US.
Why don't we get a kick starter for the adventure motorcycles?
Marc Alampi
You can’t get a kick starter on a 1 liter bike.
That would be close to impossible to start, even for hulk!
@@dimitridesmidt2 they had 1100s that were kick start both twin's triples and 4 cylinders in the 60s 70s even a few 80s motorcycles
@@dimitridesmidt2 I used to use kick starter's on old Kawasaki's 1340cc high compression drag bike's, I got them started and with no decompression
@@dimitridesmidt2 Who wants to get stuck in the outback on a heavy motorcycle when the battery is dead your by your self and it's difficult to bump start off road
Not convinced Suzuki, as current owner of the 2015 Vstrom all you have done is made a nice road bike, and as former owner of the brilliant DR Big 800 you have carried none of the DNA over to make a great ADV bike... sadly another opportunity missed...
You all lost me on the adjustable windscreen. Cant adjust on the fly.
V-Storm is beautiful but the oil filter is placed on the stupidest place!
I have to agree, it should be in the right crankcase, as a cartridge, not a spin on type.
The problem with videos like this is people who really know the bike being reviewed. I’m one of the Suzuki “devotees” but this new ‘Strom is a disappointment. After having bought and owned three and collectively ridden them over 180 000 kilometers from the tundra to the jungle, I know (and admire) the bike. If “new” means making a few tweaks, then it’s new. But what many Stromtroopers were looking for are significant improvements to the suspension, brakes, engine and exhaust. Basically, the 2020 is a tweaked 1918-19 model.
I guess you are talking about 2018-19😀. If yes, what exactly was wrong with suspension, brakes, engine or exhaust?
Richard Hretczak: No, no . . . I’m referring to the 1918 V-Strom, the one that competed with the Model H Henderson and came with a jockey shifter. 😅 Now, I will admit the contemporary models are excellent value, but the components remain, well, kinda average. I was out yesterday and tried out my friend’s ‘Strom with upgraded suspension and there’s a remarkable improvement - plus, the adjustments actually adjusted something, which is barely the case with the three ‘Stroms I’ve owned. And, even when I jump off my own 2015 model and jump on my 2009 Honda VFR the first thing I notice is how much better the brakes are on the older Honda. Another buddy of mine actually installed GSX-R brakes on his DL650 and the damn thing was scary it worked so well. So while I’m no expert, and while I’ll always have one in my garage, I’ll stick with my opinion that while the new 2020 ‘Strom is a decent motorcycle, it really can’t compete with the Triumph, Honda, BMW, KTM or Yamaha models being offered at a similar price point. But, that’s just my opinion, and I’ll keep an open mind . . .
Versys 1000 se for the win !!!
5.6 height can ride this bike
I doubt they fixed one of the major flaws..BUFFETING! I do like the bike and just might upgrade from my DL 650
Definitely the worst part of the bike. i have a 2013 dl650a myself.
@@bnolsen Just replace the wendscreen and it is perfect!
Steve 413 you've never perhaps seen this bike and not talking about riding it and you doubt they fixed buffeting.
Brian. 2013 650 and 2020 1050...
@@richardhretczak536 Exactly, Vstrom owners are well versed/educated in buffeting of this bike! That's not to say I wouldn't buy it, but at least i would know what I'm getting into.
Suzuki has the potential to squeeze 150 hp rear wheel hp Out of this engine they should do it then Ktm will have some competition.
so that is an almost 15k bike?ouch,a bit too expensive for what it offers there
Cool, then buy 30k Ducati Multistrada ;-)
10th Divine
BMW 1250 GSA is $32,000, Multi strata 1260 $29,000, Tiger 1200 $28,000, KTM 1290 $26,000, Suzuki 1050 in Canada $17,000.
Still think it’s expensive?
It’s literally 1/2 the price of its competitors in Canada.
Yes you get less electronics and less adventure capable but it’s 1/2 the cost.
@@highmilagerider1154 well yea I commented before I saw the UK price which will be 11,250 pounds for the XT version which is pretty cheap here
And what else you can get for $15000? Plus - in a year or two you'll be able to get it for perhaps $12000 or less.
That LCD Dash looks like my Casio Calculator watch I wore in 1988. My Triumph ScramblerXE 1200 is waaaaaaaaaay cooler😁 Just saying...Good luck Suzuki!
Triumph for the WIN!!
Yeah agreed, I can't imagine a full TFT would add that much more cost but I could be wrong.
$15000 grand. It's wayyyyyyy to expensive. You can pick up a brand new fully loaded 2018 tiger explorer for that price. Yes you can, look on cycle trader. Com. No thanks Suzuki
Compere Suzuki and Triumph?!?!? Like Ass and eye... Pls. Japan product vs British product. Like Germany vs Marocco in football

One look at that bike and I cringed... Suzuki has not changed one bit. Every component on that bike is meant to be replaced. The mirrors, turn signals, everything is MEANT to snap off and be replaced. Been there, done that, not funny Suzuki.
Since I haven't had any parts snap off spontaneously on any bike I've owned, please tell what bike you can drop and not have to replace parts?
rik999 - LOL! I didn’t mean spontaneously you silly goose! Many years ago I owned a Suzuki, it ran great, but if it fell or got knocked over you had to replace the turn signal lights on that side. I got cut off once and had to lay it down and so did my girlfriend on her Honda. We were both fine, but my bike needed to go to the shop, AGAIN, as both turn signal lights, the rear view mirror and the muffler bracket all had to be replaced. If the wind blows hard, if you bump something, if you get too close to a bush, you have to spend $100 to fix something. But her Honda experienced only a few scratches, the turn signals, the mirror, were all on rubber or rubber over spring mechanisms and simply folded back, the outer edges got scratched but everything was fine. Her muffler was attached with a rubber over metal bracket, a yank fixed it. Suzuki's muffler is balanced on the side with a plastic bracket. If you LOOK at this video, you see the same type of components on each bike, plastic that has thin points where they are meant to be snapped off and NOT BEND. Honda’s and other components are meant to bend back, and usually snap back into place after any minor bump or drop. Yeah, yeah, I know... just a few bucks. But over time while I owned that bike I spent $300-$500 or more each year on minor UNNECESSARY repairs, that no other motorcycle manufacturer makes their owners do. Sorry, good bike, bad design IMHO.
read my reply-if you can. Parts break off of all bikes when you drop them was the point
rik999 - If I can? LOL! I think you failed to comprehend my point entirely. Suzuki makes certain parts on their motorcycles to break, not bend. This is INTENTIONAL, it is planned into the design to produce downline income for them and their dealers. No other manufacturer does this, they make parts to BEND, not BREAK. I have broken parts off my Suzuki by accidentally bumping them with my leg, by brushing against a bush, at $50-100 per part, it gets old very fast. Yes, you are right, if you "wreck" a bike of course it’s going to break. I’m talking about simple accidents, drop it at low speed, if it accidentally falls on its side, if you bump it with your leg, THEY BREAK. I get the love of Suzuki Mechanical’s, they make a mean machine. But, and I can’t say this loud enough... IF YOU HAD EVER ACTUALLY OWNED A SUZUKI MOTORCYCLE YOU WOULD KNOW WHAT I SPEAK IS TRUE. That you seem to defend Suzuki on this issue just shows you to be a dolt and a troll.
@@Erin-Thor sounds like you are not a great rider. That's not a knock, a lot of people have no real business on a bike. You are one of them.
