I review and test the Callaway Rogue ST Triple Diamond Driver & Rogue ST Max LS Driver, both golf clubs claiming fast ball speeds, forgiving and low spin to help hit long drives gaining extra distance and yards off the tee.

I love my Max LS. Tried them all and Callaway was the best for me. I think cobra ltdx was a little longer but didn’t look and feel as good as the callaway.

My understanding is that most Pros want the head to spin in the 2400-2500 range - exactly what you found - so it is completely possible that the Max LS is the lower spinning head. That said, the slightly smaller CC head (potentially better aero profile), the slightly more forward CG (better workability), and the ball falling right not left, is exactly what guys, playing for a living want to see. All the Callaway heads seem to be excellent - and the regular Max is likely the best for most, except slicers (who should really take lessons)

I got to test both the Max LS and the Triple Diamond LS last week and my results matched up with exactly what you are saying. The Triple Diamond spun 200 rpm’s more than the Max LS. The TD is the best Callaway driver I’ve ever hit and I’m a very happy Maverik Sub Zero owner. The TD is just that good.

I hate when people make generalizations about what most will need. Worry about what you need and leave what we need to us! I'm a 13 handicap but my miss is left so I need a fade biased driver like a hole in the head. Just because most golfers are not scratch doesnt mean they need draw biased, big foot print golf clubs.

  • @nealfreeman01

I found for faders the TD is a great driver for low spin fades, especially if you take the loft down. You can hit the bullet fade like Rahmbo.

I was over drawing my max ls…
      Duck hooks sometimes..
      I rather play baby fade..
      Bombing the TD ls…
      I have the 10.5 loft.
Should I bring down to 9.5 for baby cuts?

I tested both extensively last week. The ls was definitely more forgiving as it should be, but amazingly I did not loose distance over the triple diamond. I doubt any non professional player will see a benefit putting tripple diamond over ls in the bag.

"Logue Rogo", that's a proper tongue twister lol
For me, the new Rogue ST range gets top marks cosmetically.
It's interesting that in a number of Reviews the triple diamond model ends up with a higher average Spin rate than LS. The LS would appear to be more forgiving of mishits spin-wise than the TD

Great review! Joh Rahm is using this in an unusual setting in the Rogue Triple Diamond LS - he has a 10.5 degree head @ 11.2 degrees and 10GF, 4GB.

This is definitely going in my bag soon. My feeling is the biggest punishing factor I was seeing was a loss of distance, which I don't mind all that much. For me, it definitely feels like "point the face somewhere, ball will go there."

I honestly love the head shape of the triple diamond. For me it’s the looks. The smaller the club the bigger the ball looks which makes me feel more confident hitting it. That’s why I bagged it over the max ls. I had minimal to no difference in performance between the two.

I’m not a scratch golfer quite yet, but I seemed to hit the triple diamond better and more consistent. Absolutely bombed and max 30 yards off center. Hope it’s not a fluke since I bought it. Told a guy about it at the local simulator place, he didn’t give me much confidence in my decision

The TD is the past was typically a difficult club to hit, unforgiving and really favoured the faster swinger & a very central striker. The newer Rogue TD is much more forgiving in comparison.

@@edanzore The face that was designed with Dechambeau is quite new - more of it is usable with less drop in performance, and also its designed for a much tighter lateral dispersion as well. The thing with Cobra is don't they just do the next version/evolution of something, they actually try new things entirely.

Really think Callaway dropped the ball having two different weights in the triple diamond, so they can't be swapped. When your paying £450 is it too much to ask, to have a couple of additional weights included !
