DMA can essentially do whatever an "external cheat" can do, external meaning it will hook and read memory but not actively manipulate the memory itself and more focus on rendering an overlay of sorts, as well as manipulate mouse / controller input.. the main difference is that this is external hardware, and not an external injection. However, you can in fact manipulate memory directly as well, but it's as detectable as any other cheat being ran on your system, so the vast majority of DMA providers do not do this and focus on using middleman methods when it comes to input and such. As for detection, the main way of detecting DMA is the device itself.. if it's in your system and called "XYZ PCI DMA", then it's fairly obvious.. so they get around this by spoofing said DMA card to mimic a NIC, soundcard etc... the way you detect these is to directly prod the device with appropriate API calls, i.e try and do a DNS/PING/resolve etc on the NIC, or attempt to clear the buffer of the soundcard etc.. RIOT do this to great effect and have caught numerous high ranking players using DMA. Should also be mentioned, DMA has been an expensive endeavour over the years and have been very rare to see out in the wild (as you need a second pc/pi, HDMI compositor for esp overlay etc.. all of which up till last year haven't been widely available).. this has however changed as of late as you can literally buy entire DMA kits (DMA card, HDMI Comp and a raspberrypi equivalent pc preloaded with cheats for several games).. They have pushed the price down from 1000$ to roughly 300-500$ depending on the vendor.... what's worse, it can be openly bought via aliexpress, wish, amazon etc as they are not advertised as "cheating devices". If you already knew all this, fair enough.. if not, there ya go. :P

Wild comment, that makes no sense to boot. DMA as a concept has existed for 2-3 decades or even longer at this point (it is originally a debugging tool to grab memory dumps, commit volatile variable changes for sussing out RCE etc). Cheat developers took this idea/concept and ran with it as they now had confirmation that it was possible and developed "premium cheats" for people with deep pockets (a dma card at the time went for anywhere 2000-3000$, the cheat would cost around 5000$... i know this because i was offered to buy one as far back as the end of 2012... i also know several "pro" players that did in fact buy them). Anticheat developers (EAC,esea,faceit etc etc etc) have been aware of them from their inception... not all of them have committed to detecting them for one reason or another. DMA has gotten more widespread as a whole, not only as a hardware solution but also as a VM solution as there exist SEVERAL DMA modules for various VM hosts (QEMU, KVM etc). You can or at least COULD very easily run cod/warzone in a VM container and perform DMA execution without issue as there was no code obfuscation whatsoever... no "COD IP asset coding" needed... not even sure wtf that even means and i doubt you do either... and even if there were to exist obfuscation getting around it is relatively easy to do as they all use widely known algorithms (which is why every single "large" cheat developer cracks every single engine in existence using obfuscators in a matter of hours.. there is a reason why things like denuvo are considered a joke by crackers and cheat devs). This has very much been the case for CSGO, apex etc as well as there existing SEVERAL software/VM based solutions for every single one of them readily and freely available on github (it's one of the primary reasons why battleeye, vanguard, faceit, esea etc go to great lengths to prevent their games/platforms from being played on VM hosts). Should be mentioned that most of them have been around for 4+ years and are being maintained to this day. Though, gotta say.. it's very interesting seeing the amount of people who are all of a sudden DMA experts spouting complete gibberish.
Lmao people don't just report cheaters they report everyone better then them. I got a bot lobby recently because I was camo grinding and was getting dumped on. In the bot lobby I went 75 and 7 and dropped a nuke and at the end of the game and everyone said to mass report me and guess what I got shadow banned for a week but now I'm out.
The problem with how Ricochet is set up rn (vastly different from what they keep promising is "coming soon") is not working. You see suspicious behaviour, you spectate, you report, the anti-cheat overlay will screenshot (advance cheat software even allows them to switch off their cheats for a millisecond while the screenshots are being taken) the gameplay of the person who has been reported and determine from 1. The screenshots, the number of reports × the account credibility of the reporter(s) × the account credibility of the reported player and calculate if that person is cheating. The formula is faulty as this can and does result in legit players getting shadow banned for simply being an above-average player. Also, true cheaters can easily wait out their shadow ban and come back simply by being more careful in future matches. They don't do manual reviews to ensure that suspicious behavior is spotted. Kill cam needs to display targets through walls so that the person who got killed could view for themselves if the player that killed them could've potentially been walling - this would facilitate legit reports in conjunction with properly trained A.I cheat detection software (which they still have not implemented because they don't want to spend the money) legit players won't get falsely reported and banned even when spam reported. So shadow-banning players doesn't get rid of the cheaters, it only teaches them to be smarter about their gameplay. Also, shadow banning makes so that legit players become so annoyed by they game that they stop playing all together.
Shadow banned for simply being good at the game. It's pretty crazy that the game can't detect a legitimate good player. Lots of things need fixed from a cheating standpoint for sure. Thanks for checking out the video 👍

DMA cheats originated from Activision devs selling COD IP asset coding.
I trust Activision as much as I trust cheaters.. I do not.
