    Ebikes can definitely be life changing for many and we are finding that with our Radrunner bike. Less trips in the car, more time outside and still getting in a little exercise. We are definitely digging cycling in ebike style, especially for getting around town and running errands. Joy rides are pretty fun too! You'll definitely be smiling a lot on on of these rad power bikes!

    It's really interesting to see how people react when trying an ebike for the 1st time.
    I've never seen anyone have buyers remorse for getting one.
    Congratulations on your new toy

    That's actually the video I was looking for.
    First impressions, first drive, drive test uphill and downhill, honest review about the downsides.
    I'm going to buy this bike because it's looking very funny and worth the price.
    Thank you for this, really appreciate your passion.

    BIG congrats on the new ebike... that's so... RAD!! I Love Love Love my eBike!!!! I have a Pedego City Commuter that I bought about 7 years ago and back then I was the ONLY one around with an eBike. I used to get a lot of questions from people and lots of looks. Now it seems like the eBike craze has really caught on and it's easy to see why. When I am on my bike I feel like I'm 10 years old again! It brings me so much joy I can't even tell you. When I let someone try it out it is so cool to watch the smile instantly appear on their face and that's how I STILL feel every time I get on my bike. I bought an extra battery that I keep in my saddle bags so I can extend the distances I ride. I hope to take it on a bike tour at some point. Believe me, the fun never ends, it just keeps getting better as you find more places to explore. Where I live in Orange County, CA., there are just so many crazy steep hills and at the beach the headwinds are unavoidable, so the eBike was a perfect solution. My other bike was just collecting dust and I would just find excuses not to ride it. Now I ride my Pedego everywhere! To the store, to my hair & nail appointments, really everywhere. And I laugh at the gas stations as I pass them by. I think that the most common misconception about an eBike is that you will not get a workout and that it is a cop out to "real" bike riding. That could not be more false... an eBike is a... BIKE! You have to PEDAL! Plus, you always have the option of NOT using the power and strictly pedaling if you want to get in a good work out. Just because the motor is there does not mean you HAVE to use it. You have the option NOT to use the power. I'm so happy you bought this bike. The smiles on your faces as you made this video tell the story of how everyone feels when they first get on an eBike and why these have become so popular. I'm glad to see the prices start to come down so more people can own one and experience the same joy. Rad on!!!!

    This is the exact bike I ordered hoping my brother can pedal around town with me. Ebikes are great equalizers so anyone can ride with anyone. He has a medical condition that made biking seem impossible until recently. I can’t describe how big of an opportunity this is for many people. We will be able to ride with him enjoying the speed and not feel like he’s holding anyone up. Maybe he’ll like it, maybe he won’t. I won’t mind if it isn’t his thing but at least the opportunity is there! I’m not crying, you’re crying.

    We picked up a cargo ebike to move a toddler around, and for my hilly 10 mile-each-way commute, but it's also great for big grocery runs, cruising garage sales, and moving 5 gallon kegs around. Congrats!

    Really good video. In some cycling circles E-bikes are somewhat controversial. I think they are perfectly legitimate especially if it reduces the need even further four having a car. I do most of my errands and groceries on my bike which is complicated during the 4 months of winter where I live. For me, if I was going to buy an E-bike I would be looking for some thing in a cargo bike format, which would then go a long way to eliminating a car from my lifestyle. When I was living in Montreal for a few years I had no car whatsoever. The few times I needed a car they have a short term rental service called Car-2-Go but that no longer exists. An E-bike would be a valid substituâtes for sure. It is easy to be a cycling snob on this topic. But put yourself in the shoes of a senior citizen with no vehicle and yes this is a great answer for many people.

    The rear bike light I like and its a game changer is the Garmin Varia Radar Light. Besides being bright it will warn you of approaching cars or cyclists with a beep or present a target on your bike computer. It will detect a car over 150 yards behind you. It has saved me several times in tough situations and not just on busy roads.

    Age & medical conditions limited my regular biking. An e-bike has allowed to keep pedaling & enjoying biking, rather than suffering. Mine is pedal assist only & 250w motor but those are not limiting factors. Wonderful invention.

    Back in August of 2019 I converted my Sun Sport Recumbent to a Ebike. Knee's, heart and lungs are not what they used to be. Plus I live at 6200 feet above sea level. The motor I got is a 48 volt. 500 watt, Direct Drive Hub motor, also known as a Magnetic induction motor, so no moving parts. I installed this on my front wheel. So now when I pedal and get assist, I am a all wheel drive bike. Its very handy. I often wonder why people don't just convert a bike they have, if its comfortable and it's a good ride. Doesn't take much work, and you can go geared or direct drive. Girls, that motor is a geared one. So you will have to change the oil every 1000 miles or so. Just thought you should know.

    got my eBike 3 weeks ago ONLINE and my whole life has changed ! i'm in my Senior years in my 60s and found that those slight inclines on a normal 26 inch wheeled PUSH bike were just too much to bother going cycling anymore ! i was toooo pooped after a 6 klm cycle to enjoy the cycling experience anymore ! got a MTB eBike - 26 inch wheeled, rear hub motor - 36V, 250W, 10AH - entry level at $1100, PAS and FULL TWIST THROTTLE, huge comfortable MAXXIS tyres ! now i am cycling using 5th level PAS (it has 9 PAS levels), 30 KLMS easily - 15 out and 15 back and i feel GREAT ! all on shared cycled paths on the Central Coast of NSW here. I refrain going offroad. Its a great aerobic workout as you must peddle gently for the motor to work - but there is now very little distressing EFFORT in doing so. Switching from PAS to FULL TWIST THROTTLE is a blast LOL - no peddling required but i refrain from using that ! if you want an aerobic workout for your lungs without overstressing them as you get older and getting the circulation pumping throuout, then an eBike is the answer ! sunshine and CYCLING here i come . Thanks for showing your video ....
    EDIT: my eBike comes with lights front and rear, MTB mudguards, S830 LCD computer display screen, and fantastic HORN lol. With a gentle peddle (PAS5), it will cruise along at around 26KPH on flat, and well over 30 downhill without peddling (PAS motor cuts out at 26KPH). going up a slope you can feel the rear hub motor kicking in pushing you along as you peddle gently. It has 7 speed shimano gears, comfy Velo seat, MAXXIS Pace tyres. Carbon black bike colour. Bike weighs about 24Kgs all up, without battery about 21. I remove the front wheel and battery and lift and slide the rest of the bike into the back of my small hatch easily. Love it ......

    I see others have already welcomed you to the Dark Side.
    Bwahahaha.
    I have been on an ebike for 7 years now.
    To be completely honest, I wasn't planning on going electric.
    I have a very messed up back and cannot ride a diamond frame any longer, so I bought a recumbent trike.
    Recumbents are very scarce in my part of the world so when a used Catrike came up for sale I bought it.
    It had a Bionix system on it.
    It was love at first crank.
    I'm old and in horrible shape, my back is finished and my knees just scream at me all the time now.
    I removed the Bionix system and installed a Grin Technologies kit onto it 6 years ago.
    Have had zero issues and I can't remember how many kilometers I have on it, thousands.
    If it wasn't for the electric assist I would not be able to ride at all.
    When things aren't hurting I have about 50 watts going to the motor just to make up for the extra weight and drag of the electric, but if I get out 50 or 60 km and my knees start to complain, I can crank it right up, I find 200 watts is more then enough.
    If I need to get somewhere in a hurry I have the option to turn up the speed but my motor is limited to 48 kmh.
    I did try it once with all the safety's off. 1350 watts....hills, what hills. ( I live on a street with a 15% hill )
    I'm still planning on going on a tour with it, The Pacific Coast.
    I am going to build a trailer and mount some solar panels on it.
    Going to be a fun project, just need to finish a bunch of other projects off first.
    Have you ever heard of "The Sun Trip" www.thesuntrip.com/en/
    Have fun with the "RAD" bike, just beware of how addictive Ebiking can be.
    Oh, and I do use mine to get groceries and stuff during the summer months.

    Love the RAD bike. I do t own one yet!You laugh about riding from the back rack, but I’ve seen the video that the seat is squared, butts up to [back rack pad; banana seat], making seat positions further away from steering.

      @radbikeadventure  3 роки тому

      It's so fun to ride instead of taking the car! Re the rear seat: it's only like that if you want it to all be flush (and look like a moped) but I don't think you have to do that.

    Hi! Thanks for your review! A year later, do you still like it as much? Are you missing the 7-speed drivetrain and front suspension that would've come with the RadRunner Plus?

    • @radbikeadventure
      @radbikeadventure  Рік тому

      Hi Marie! I LOVE it. Take it out all the time and it’s great for running the dog and doing errands. Also take it on the trails sometimes too (also running dogs lol) and its amazing there tho a little more bumpy without suspension so it would be nice for that purpose but I just try and stay loose!) I was just thinking how the single speed is totally sufficient for me with the way that I use the electric assist. it’s seems to always be perfect for my cadence (note: I’m not using this really for exercise more for getting around). So kind of depends on how you plan to use it. Hope that helps ! If you do decide to order one, we would love for you to use the affiliate link in the description as it supports the channel! 🙏 😊

    So when riding on throttle only does the power stages 1 to 4 make any difference? I believe different States have different laws regarding ebikes. Must make it tricky if doing the PanAmerican Route on one 😉. What capacity/range can the battery deliver. With a 750 watt motor probably 25 miles?

    • @radbikeadventure
      @radbikeadventure  3 роки тому +1

      Great question! When you throttle the power is all in how much you twist the throttle. The pedal assist numbers are ONLY for pedaling. It says the range is 25-45 miles per charge and I'm sure it depends on how much one weighs, how steep (or not!) the grades are and how much you pedal.
      I see these more as running around town bikes but you probably could ride the thing cross country!

    Be careful in deep sand, hub motors don't like heavy loading at slow speed and can overheat. Not sure what systems the Rad has in place, if any, such as temperature monitoring ( I doubt it) to deal with that but just be aware. A short stretch is ok but to be safe don't bog the motor for a good long stretch. Same thing on hills, if it seems the bike is struggling at all up a long hill better to walk it up the hill ( use the throttle to power it next to you while you walk it) than to have a fried controller or motor.

    • @radbikeadventure
      @radbikeadventure  3 роки тому

      Yes for sure. I just wanted to test it out in the sand, but I also would not recommend trying to burn through the thick stuff and I always pedal up the hills. took it on the trail and did have to walk it a couple times on some steep parts. Agreed. don't want to make it work too hard!

    I think I can load my cyclocross+commuter up to make it 60 lbs. It would be grueling even with 2x10 speeds. The single speed on that must mean it's intended to always have that motor doing something.

    • @radbikeadventure
      @radbikeadventure  3 роки тому

      Yes definitely. Trying to ride it without e-assist is REALLY difficult unless it's totally flat or slightly downhill.. Doesn't feel like a loaded touring bike the way the weight sits and with those hefty tires. Maybe with the gears it would be easier but we quickly realized, if it runs outta electric, it won't be a fun ride home!

    Welcome to the dark side. Funny after my last 400 miles e-tour I been thinking my next 800 mile tour maybe on a none e-bike. Hotels get a bit pricy for recharges. Then again I also love showers and what is money. See this is why I ride 100 miles for 10 hours powering over a oversized mountain to get to a shower and power.

      I've had two ebikes in the past but they've been a bit unreliable even though they were expensive ones. They were great when they worked with good range and performance and good as normal bikes when the battery was removed. We're limited to 250 watt motors and 15.6 MPH of assisted power in the UK unless you go down the route of getting the the faster assisted versions that are classed as light weight mopeds which then require insurance, licence plates, motor cycle helmet and indicators!

      I bought a 2019 Radwagon for commuting, then Covid popped up before the weather was warm enough to ride, so I've been using the Radwagon recreationally. I have put 2,005 miles on the bike, without any problems. I have ridden 63 miles using PAS-1 with PAS-2 reserved for hills on one ride. I have averaged 45.0 miles between charges across 96 rides, with an average ride length of 20.67 miles. If you stay out of the higher pedal assist levels, the 25-45 mile range posted by Rad is very realistic. Great product at a reasonable price. Yes, there are "better" e-bikes with higher quality components, but for the money, the Rad Power bikes are tough to beat! I would definitely buy from Rad Power bikes again.

    Excellent bicycle. Here in the U.K. E-Bikes are only allowed to be pedal assisted. The motor cannot be more than 250w otherwise the bicycle is classed as a Scooter and compulsory road tax, training and third party insurance is needed to be used on public roads. There are custom built powerful electric bikes which can reach over 40 mph and are particularly popular with drug dealers doing their business !
