Nobody delivers a comic line like Marilyn. "My boss said, I need to work on my punctuation, so I've been coming in early." She had no idea how good she was.
My mother passed away a few weeks ago, I'm watching as many movies of MM as I can - when she was young my mother was the spitting image of Marilyn Monroe, it really is amazing. RIP Jill Montague 🌹
I love how they portrayed their marriage in this movie! That it is strong despite whatever happens and that they are both working as a team in it. Other than that pure, silly but beautiful movie :) love it
@@genahebert4 - Hi! I’m not sure if you were asking anyone specifically but either way, my all time favorite (which I say about every movie I’m talking about! ) is “Kitty Foyle”! It’s 1940 Ginger Rogers & it’s just glorious! Also- “Auntie Mame” with Rosalind Russell and a similar one “Mame” with Lucille Ball (As much as I adore Lucy, I personally like the other movie better but they’re both good imo.). I like all the styles…the dancing, the mysteries, the wartime ones, musicals or not. I don’t know if I have seen one I didn’t like until you get past the 40-50’s.
@@shannonnichols3415 thank you! I was asking anyone lol..my mom loved them & used to buy me old movies but through the years I lost them and the ones I watched with her I loved. A lot of Alfred Hitchcock and Shirley Temple movies. Also some with Natalie Woods and Audrey Hepburn but as much as I search I can’t find anything but a few classics. I appreciate it! I will look them up ❤️
What a movie! Marylin Monroe is a knock out. Cary Grant, charming by nature. Ginger Rogers, lovely and funny lady. Great movie. It made me burst into laughter.
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen! It's sweet, wise & gives the best practical advice for married people: "Be kind to each other, and have fun together!"
A sweet comedy with such a funny plot line. The ensemble cast of Cary, Ginger, Marilyn, Esther the chimpanzee and the other notable performers is perfect... and hilarious. Thoroughly enjoyable.
What a cute movie! I love the main couple, they are adorable and so sweet together, and Marilyn shines even though it's a small part. I love movies like this ☺️
This is chock full of genuinely clever comedy (silly--but the best kind of silly) and oodles of real talent--acting, dancing, ... I'm in seventh heaven!
I’ve always loved this film. Marilyn, Charles Coburn and George Winslow (the little boy with the very old voice) all appeared together next in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes - and were all more prominent and hilariously brilliant, even better than here. Ginger Rogers excelled in every genre from straight drama to dance movies, musicals and sparkling comedy, she’s 20 years into her career here. Cary Grant is effortlessly superb as always, and the script here is really witty with some great lines. The sequence with Esther the monkey mixing the formula is a comic masterpiece, she even puts the top back on every bottle! Just a terrific, feelgood film featuring some of our all time, unforgettable favourites, wonderful stuff.
Hilarious and charming. And Ms. Monroe stole the spotlight with natural grace, just being there as a side-part. And men's hearts have been captivated ever since 💕
This is a beautiful crisp print and a pleasure to watch. uuummmmmmMarilyn, how she lights up the screen. The Chimpanzee is amazing in this. Cary Grant is more animated in this film that any others of his I've seen. Always one of my favorite actors, he is terrific in this one as well. Even in those glasses he makes it work. Ginger Rodgers as a teenager, not so good in the first section does it very well in the second. I wonder if this was remade today how teens wold be portrayed. Three of the men on the board played important roles in 2 different classic Science Fiction Films. 'When Worlds Collide', 1951 and 'The Thing from Another World', 1951. (I kept picturing them in those movies so it was a bit surrealistic). All in all this movie, as much as I wanted it to, doesn't work very well. Nevertheless, everyone will most certainly have different parts they will really enjoy. Charles Coburn is wonderful regaining his youth, but then Charles Coburn is always wonderful.
Never too young to appreciate greatness! 😀 If you haven't seen other movies by these wonderful actors and actresses you're in for a real treat. They've given me a lifetime of pleasure.
thank you for posting this ... i always amaze by her, her story, and life and movies.... i am a painting artist... hoping and wishing to paint her smile one day...!!
Wow what a movie! It's cool to see two of the biggest movie stars of old hollywood share the screen together both with their signature voices and charming personas, I liked the scenes where Edwina (Ginger Rodgers character) is under the effects of the formula. Even though Marilyn's role in the film is as a side character I think her presence in it overshadows Cary Grant's and Ginger Rodgers leading roles together
Very cute movie my favorite part is when he was trying to find something to cover her up with around 9:00 he found a pot holder as if that would help any lol
Cary and Marilyn in a MG TD "Midget" roadster, a British car developed for the American market...... (I suppose Cary was a British actor developed for the American market too).
I wonder if young people today would even get where this is coming from? hey might even view the ttitle as un PC because that's how they've been brought up. Even putting clothes on a chimp' might be seen as outrageous. Having said this, to be able to role play the way Cary and Ginger did here is truly amazing.
I actually expected the Marx chaos & anarchy Brothers! In one of their movies, Marilyn does have one of her very first roles. She enters Groucho's office walks across the room and leaves it through a second door, saying: "Men are after me", or something like that, while he is following her with his eyes thus proving her very words.🤣
@Gregory Holstein Thank you very much for the correct quote. I guess you also know when, where, why and to whom she says the likewise famous words "I keep my undies in the icebox". BTW Everything she was later famous (and exploited) for was already there in her relatively little role in THE ASPHALT JUNGLE, one of the very best classic caper movies.
@@againstallodds3300 Haha yes the "I keep my undies in the icebox" quote is from "The Seven Year Itch"- I just adore Marilyn Monroe, my mother in her prime, was the spitting image of MM. My mother died recently and I find it so comforting watching MM's movies. Thank you for replying. Cheers.
@Gregory Holstein Yes, poor Tom Ewell! We have something else in common: I once lived in HOLSTEIN, Schleswig-Holstein, that is (roughly between the city of Hamburg and Denmark).
Marilyn Monroe and Doris Day never made a movie together, but they had common co stars . In this movie Cary Grant and Ginger Rogers , And they had Tony Randall and Thelma Ritter in their individual movies .

Nobody delivers a comic line like Marilyn. "My boss said, I need to work on my punctuation, so I've been coming in early." She had no idea how good she was.
And she became the queen of lines like that.
In fact I'd wager she holds the record for the most delivered clever quips in interview history.
“Be kind to each other and have fun together “ In marriage but can also apply to everyone who love each other 🥰

Who would have thought this movie has the first break dancer
The wife not only doesn't get angry about missing a party she puts on an apron and prepares food for her husband. This really is a fictional story.
This was one of my my favorite parts because I thought it was beautiful the way she understood her husband’s condition and thought of his health and well being.
I would have done the same. It's the whole meaning of supporting each other through richer or poorer; in sickness and in health.
That's called LOVE!
Not at all.😂❤😂😂😂😂
The husband focuses more on other crap and disregaurds his wife constantly, this really is a life like story.
