Clarence was such a hilarious character to play, and William Powell did a splendid job. I did not realize Elizabeth Taylor was Mary. What a wonderful hilarious movie,
Ah yes the "who where's the pants" theory, well men do, they where the pants, but it's their wives that tell them how to where them. LOL. Merry Christmas to All & to All a good nite. Peace on Earth this nite. Guard us & keep us Lord Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
Just watched this movie on TV. The scene where William Powell and Irene Dunne sing almost made me cry. And that last scene when Clarence kneels when talking to Mary, even when his father said a man should never do that, was a perfect ending.
As noted in the description, it was a big hit on Broadway. Sadly, author Clarence Day died shortly after the book was published in 1935. He never got to enjoy the play or the movie.
They certainly did my day.. My father acted a LOT like Mr Day (although, never would have made a maid cry) and my Mother was most definitely Mrs Day, she ran the house, but, made it look like Dad did it (he wasn't around much though, was always working)!
There could not be two more perfect actors for this movie than William Powell and Irene Dunne. I just love it. Thank you so much, I enjoyed it more now than even years ago and it has always been one of my favorites.
I love the way she knows how to get around her husband's thinking about money how she gets away from his figures and comes out on top very clever woman These two actors perfect for this movie. Life was so good for that family 4 boys doing just fine in life. THEY live a nice clean decent lives. Happy you have this video available for us to watch as often as we wish thanks.
I love the way the camera pans across the room to reveal to the audience she bought the pug dog without it having to be mentioned in the dialogue until Clare claps eyes on it later in the scene. So many wonderful little touches like this. Also how Vinnie says You know how the coffee pot git broken and Clare changes the subject. Just love this film!
🎉 William Powell was a delight in every movie I have seen him in Irene Dunne had Such a beautiful voice all the characters in this movie were very well represented by all the actors
Claire and Vinnie kept me laughing Hysterically she definitely knew how to get her way she's a very clever women. What was the odds of having all them adorable red headed boys. It freaked the maid out 😂. Always enjoyed watching this movie. TFS ♥😎
I remember watching this movie as a young girl with my mum. I certainly miss the old classics. Another good classic and a true favorite is I remember mama with Irene Dunne.
Thank you! This movie is a gem, I have loved it since my teens, in the 1970's.The color is so beautiful.I like the bedroom Clare and his wife had, it was large, airy, cheerful, and the pale blue wallpaper was pretty. The boys were cute, and as wealthy as they are they aren't brats. In fact, the father is the demanding brat. LOL. He sure is a tightwad, too, but I always thought he was cute and funny, and great at any role he had.The wife sure recovered fast when being told her husband would get baptized. She was as religious as Olivia Walton, both had shit fits because their husbands refused baptism.
I’ve seen this movie many times still enjoying it! To bad they didn’t make wonderful comedic movies like this anymore. Nice to see no swearing no sex. No violence. Just pure joy.❤
A time gone by when movies were promoting good manners and faith. No cursing or sex or any other vulgarity. I love the scene where they are in church praying and the pastor is thanking God for all of their blessings; how lovely and humbling. Sure, his misogynistic attitude toward women makes us laugh now days, and we are glad that that is a thing of the past, but the good family values, the respect for parent and adults in general, the pleasantries of social relations (good morning, thank, please, may I) are a delight to watch; they uplift us and inspire each one of us to be better individuals ourselves. This is a movie that leaves you with a good feeling in your soul; oh how I wish we could have some of this gentleness back!
Sam Spade Obviously you are an idiot; therefore, there is no point debating anything with you, your arrogance and cynical attitude gets in the way. Nevertheless, I remain of the opinion that in 1880 western society was more civilized than today and moral values still meant something. They might not have had cell phones but at least spreading your legs while swinging from a pole was not something that women aspired to!
@@Catglittercrafts Obviously, you focus on the things you love and I focus on the things that I love, which are the good things that were prevalent in those day. Sadly, you seem stuck on the negative, which today is mostly gone, but along with the bad the good is also gone and new ills plague our societies. There is nothing wrong with longing for a time when children spoke to adults with respect and women where treated like ladies! I don't miss the racism or misogyny, I miss the good manners, the class, the respect, the order, and the faith of those days!

Yep! Lol
Yesssssss LoL 😂
🎉 William Powell was a delight in every movie I have seen him in Irene Dunne had Such a beautiful voice all the characters in this movie were very well represented by all the actors
Love the book and movie. I haven't been to a picture show in years and don't expect to in the future.
I remember watching this movie as a kid with my grandma. I love the humor. Such a great move.
Enjoyed this delightful movie. Loved all the characters.

This is a great old movie. Love Irene Dunne.
They need to make more of them, the wonderful scripts ❣️❣️❣️ Just wonderful❣️❣️❣️
Claire and Vinnie kept me laughing Hysterically she definitely knew how to get her way she's a very clever women. What was the odds of having all them adorable red headed boys. It freaked the maid out 😂. Always enjoyed watching this movie. TFS ♥😎
Exactly. She knew what she was doing.
One of my most favourite movies of all time!! Thank you SO MUCH for this!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I remember watching this movie as a young girl with my mum. I certainly miss the old classics. Another good classic and a true favorite is I remember mama with Irene Dunne.
*William Powell and Irene Dunne* my absolute 2 favorite actors from the 1st half of the 20th Century!
They should have made many more movies together.
Inspector Lewis series
One of my favorite movies of all time
This movie is so wonderful! It's a shame they don't make good movies like this, anymore!
I woke up with this movie on tv this morning… never seen it before and now seeing it on UA-cam. Maybe I should watch it. Lol
Great Classic : you can't go wrong with an actor as William Powell and a director as Michael Curtiz. And a very young Liz Taylor !
Irene Dunn would be 125 years old were she still with us. As it was, she lived to age 91!
One of my favorite movies of all time!!
Hello 👋how are you doing?
Thankyou so much love old movies...Sunday's as a kid with my family....so many gone now......this reminds me of them all...love Irene dunnxxxx
Heard of this many times but never seen it before. Beautiful sets and costumes.
I love this movie. I saw the play in high school when our drama department presented "Life With Father". It has been my favorite ever since.
OLD MOVIES 🎥 ARE THE BEST, BEST ACTOR EVER, THE LITTLE BOY IS A GOOD ACTOR.THANK YOU SO MUCH, SEND MORE VIDEOS.
I’ve seen this movie many times still enjoying it! To bad they didn’t make wonderful comedic movies like this anymore. Nice to see no swearing no sex. No violence. Just pure joy.❤
"Do you believe that girls can also go to college?
I guess so, if they want to waste that much of time before they get married" 😂
The book itself was already hilarious....and this vintage movie is wonderful! Thanks so much for uploading it.
Oh, how very civilised! And all those delightful actors. Thanks for the upload.💖
What a wonderful movie. I love older movies, so wholesome and innocent 🥰. Thank you
Hello 👋how are you doing?
Thank you pizza flix! i love this movie!
Sam Spade
Obviously you are an idiot; therefore, there is no point debating anything with you, your arrogance and cynical attitude gets in the way. Nevertheless, I remain of the opinion that in 1880 western society was more civilized than today and moral values still meant something. They might not have had cell phones but at least spreading your legs while swinging from a pole was not something that women aspired to!
Horse With No Name men like strippers
The racism, the classism, the homophobia. The good ol days
@@cinnamonroll5557 Trashy men yes, honorable men no; they stay home with their wives and kids.
Poor maid Annie. Should they have not warned her that Clarence shouts and speaks to himself a lot? :) That was the most hilarious scene for me :)
Why warn The Help? It is her place to conform
