Casting Dried Flowers In Resin to Make a Vase
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 чер 2024
- Woodturning this incredible vase by using some colourful dried flowers casted in epoxy resin with some vibrant glittery pigments to further enhance the overlook. Used some horse chestnut bur what has been stabilised with resin prior to casting. To give high gloss finish I applied a layer of coating epoxy resin and sprayed the bottom with gloss lacquer to match the resin finish.

Amazing!!!!
What resin do you use? The 30 min green? 24hr glitter? And 3hr coating? What kind of brush are you using to apply the coating resin? How many coats does it usually take? Do you sand between? (Sorry for the ton of questions, but you said we could ask 😉)
The end result is beautiful, and I would like to attempt something similar. Any info you can share that may increase my odds of success would be greatly appreciated. 💕
@@autumnlaf1te Thank you 🙂
@@jencstephens5452 the green is Zap 30mins epoxy resin, then the deep pour resin was Vista Ocean and the coating was Alumilite coating resin. Only did one coat as turned out pretty nice. But sometimes i apply multiple coast then you must send after each coat. 180grit will do fine. For the brush it doesn’t really matter just use something what doesn’t loose the bristles easily. You can even use the foam type of brushes. Some people use hands with gloves. Due to centrifugal force it will even out. And yes you have to run the lathe at lowest rpm (mine is 50) until the resin cures partly that it will not run once the lathe is stopped

It's very beautiful. You should give us a longer look at the finished piece, so we can truly enjoy and admire it.
Yes, please!
Would love to see a slow spin on a lazy suzan too!
Yep, a bit longer and more close ups please it was so pretty I wanted to see it in detail. Other than that fantastic video
hit the pause button duh
@@2bigbufords Which gives me exactly, 1 view, of one spot. Duh.
Wait - people say negative things about your accent? This is the first video of yours I've seen and I loved it from the jump. As an English speaker, I am always impressed by those who learned it as a second or third language. I understood you perfectly and it is very endearing. Keep putting out great content!
His voice is grating . Not everyone is suited to narration. Be better with subtitles/graphics.
nothing wrong with the accent, but he needs a new microphone. the sound quality is painful even at 5%
@@Dreamskater100 Yeah, today's a good day for me, but audio processing disorder makes understanding people even without an accent a bit difficult. Wish everyone would think to put subtitles.
@@JunpakuKarasu can't you turn on CC?
@@MagellanMG You can!
Beautiful work and beautiful accent. As an English speaking from another country, I am never ashamed of my accent. I speak four languages and I think communication and language is about the message and the kind heart you use to speak to others. Beautiful to see your work and hear your comments
Thank you for showing great resin practices by WEARING A MASK/ RESPIRATOR!! So many people don't realize that resin is still a chemical and should be used with great care! So many go yrs of doing resin art in small enclosures with no air flow and end up really really sick! So thank you for showing everyone how you're supposed to work with such a beautiful medium like resin! Great video! I absolutely love it!!
Please, take care of your lungs. You can't live without them.
David, your English is fine. To be honest, you speak English better than a lot of people out her where it's their primary language. I love how this piece turned out, especially since the flowers maintained their color. Other projected I've seen with flowers, end up with the flowers becoming dark and losing their color.
Thank you so much 🙂
Czech?
Wow. I did not expect the finished result to be so vibrant. Took my breath away!
Half of it is because the video was oversaturated…It didn‘t show the colors as they are, I‘m pretty sure
Very nice piece. The glitter makes it look like dust motes of pollen in the air around the flowers. As for your accent, I don't envy anyone that tackles the task of learning a second language, as I know plenty of people that struggle with English as their first. Wonderful job, clear communication. Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us.
Would have liked a turn of the finished piece at the end. It`s so breathtakingly beautiful! What a creative idea! It worked really well. Well done!
Oh my goodness…this is the most beautiful vase I have ever seen ! Wow ! You make it look so easy, but I know it’s not. Takes lots of time and a wonderful idea ( then find a way to execute said idea ). If I came across this in a shop, I’d BEG my hubby to buy it for me…and I don’t beg for nothing ( I’m rather spoiled). Sir, this is fabulous !
Oh, what a pretty piece! The wood with the flowers is gorgeous, and I appreciate your explanations as to what you're doing while you're working. I have no experience with woodturning myself, so a bit of extra info as to what is going on is helpful.
Thank you so much 🙂
I don’t think I have ever seen such a beautiful vase. Gorgeous! Thank you for the great video so we can see it happen. Your accent is very nice, and your English is very good, not difficult to understand at all. Learning multiple languages is a skill I have never had, and I’m very impressed with those who can. Please don’t let obnoxious people get you down.
That vase turned out wonderfully. The vibrant colors of the flowers paired with the brightness imparted by the resin finish on the burl is a lovely combination.
As for people making snide comments regarding your accent and English as your second language, ignore those fools. Some people will try to find anything they can use to validate their own jealousy to themselves. You keep putting out great content, and exploring your creative side. Let those haters fester in their own insecurities.
Fantastic work, David!! 👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉👍👍👍
This is the coolest wood+resin woodturning project I've seen in any woodturning channel so far. Love the experimentation. Your eye for flower arranging gives you an opportunity for a side gig. :)
Thank you so much 😀
Completely agree! Arrangement is just beautiful
This vase is so breathtaking. Please do another.
Also thinking on making a lamp with flowers casted in resin but certainly will have other vase/bowl made as i like how it turned out.
What can I say that has not already been said. Perfection is the only compliment I can give you.
BUT LOOK WHAT U ARE BRINGING TO THE UK!!! IT'S BEAUTY 😍🤩😍🤩
It looks beautiful. Your voice over is clear and to the point, which makes it easier to understand 😊👍🏻. I watch some videos where English is their first language and I struggle to understand what their trying to communicate or they constantly repeat themselves or waffle on 😑
Thank you so much 🙂 Even on my mother tongue I am not the person who waffle on a lot certainly I like the nice and simple plain talking 😅
Really lovely--would like to see another flower piece sometime. Your accent is charming, and your English is excellent. Your speech is very clear so I never have to use Closed Captioning with your videos, although I often have to do so with other YT people who are native English speakers. Is your accent perhaps Hungarian?
Thank you so much 🙂 And yes you nailed it 😀🇭🇺
You have a good ear! I just thought he was british!
@@2degucitas I thought it was a welsh/Newcastle mix accent lol
She is hungarian! As the hungarian rapsody ! (From "My Fair Lady")
I was gonna guess Finnish accent. 😇
Wow, wow, WOW! Never seen this technique before. Stunning.
Stunning wood grain! Beautiful vase.
Absolutely stunning!
Wow! Not only beautiful but the potential that this technique demonstrates is limited only by the imagination.
Thank you so much 🙂
That turned out very beautiful.
"Green slime and dried flowers... what?" LOL Heck yeah! Right up my ally. Mine will begin... Dried fish and mushrooms... what? I get excited too. But we must let our epoxy finish hardening. 😀🙌 I really really enjoyed this!
1.1 mil views 11 months ago is when this video pops up for me to watch on 8/26/23 Sat. It turned out FANTASTIC. The flowers are a nice accent to the piece 🧩. Great Workmanship.
This is a money maker, one of the prettiest resin vases I've seen. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much 🙂
Your accent is amazing. I love the way you say really!
The vase took my breath away. So beautiful!!
Ahh how stunning this vase is,a beautiful piece that can last forever. Its truly beautiful well done 👍⭐️
That is a great result! Flowers kept their colour, perfectly visible and great call on a drop of dye. I feel the same way about clear resin. Good work!
Thank you so much 😀
Great work!! Yes, please, give us a longer look from different angles - of the finished project. The process is fascinating and it’ll be great to enjoy the finished look of the vase from different perspectives
Thank you so much 😀
Agree I wanted to look at it longer. Gorgeous
That is a gorgeous vase. The work that went into was so interesting to watch.
Awesome piece!! I really appreciate the voiceover that you do, explaining the project. I’m not a woodturner, I just love watching the work, so an explanation is really nice. So many just have no talking at all. Thanks for sharing!! ❤️🔥❤️
Beautiful work you’ve done with the dried flowers!
Thank you so much 🙂
So gorgeous. I love the way you combined different elements and colors. You’re such a great artist. God bless.
TOTALLY BEAUTIFUL!!!
India + UK. Doesn't matter b/c again you're putting beauty and ideas out here for enjoyment and inspiration. Thanks!
Thank you so much 😀 Originally from Hungary 😀 But live in the UK
I am completely amazed at how beautiful it is and I love watching the process! You have an amazing gift

I was so impressed with this that i shared it with my sister who in turn made one for me! So beautiful!
OMG that is beautiful. Many thanks for sharing
The product looks absolutely stunning, the straw flowers are perfect
Very beautiful piece. It would be perfect to put some tiny fairy lights in and use it as a night light. If it was mine, i love night lights.
Thank you 🙂
That is astonishingly beautiful!
This is stunning! I wish I had one. Absolutely the most beautiful vase I've ever seen.
Okay, I would love to own a vase like this. Wow, it is gorgeous.
It's so gorgeous! Thanks for making my day by making this beautiful vase!
What a beautiful object. Congrats !
It would be neat if you were to make two of them, and maybe a little bit taller and deeper, and sold them as wedding goblets. That would be so cool! Love your stuff man❣️🥰
Ой красота! Вечно смотреть можно за работой мастера.
Благодарю вас!
Oh wow! Just lovely❤️❤️❤️
This guy is an absolute artist of the highest calibre.
Thank you so much 🙂
very very beautiful! I have tried encasing stuff in resin myself...and it never turned out that good, so I am very impressed.
Stunning vase!! A true keepsake piece. I want one!
David, EVERY project you do is so stunning and BEAUTIFUL and i want to buy soooo many of them. (But dont have the money to buy them at all, do to i lost my job not long ago!) BUT i just LOVE watching you doing all these BEAUTIFUL vases and cups and eggs and much more! Kepp it up David you have a HUGE fan here from Sweden. HUGS
Thank you so much 🙂
Very beautiful. I think I’d have gone taller so the flowers didn’t get a cut off look. Very nice wood grain, too.
BEAUTY FULL !!
The mad scientist at work. How clever!
Hello how are you doing?
That is a seriously large green house!
This is absolutely stunning! Really cleaver idea and talented enough to make it work! Love it!
Thank you so much 🙂
That was so beautiful, turned out better then I thought at first!
Thank you 🙂
I watch a lot of these woodturning videos recently and I can appreciate that you have both the machine noise and just the pertinent narration. It comes through that you would foremost like people to learn. Nice work and beautiful arrangement on this.
Hit the nail on the head thank you. I learned literally everything from youtube and built up to all the knowledge and tools. I wanted to give back to the community as each of my vids had so many questions around what snd how i do so thought i will share tips and hints snd some humour in some vids
That turned out freakin beautiful. You never need to put flowers in it because it would take away from the vase!
This is absolutely beautiful, wow! I enjoyed your explanations (while only knowing woodturning and epoxy resin from YT videos) and your way of talking a lot, and how we can hear the original noises in the background at a good volume as well. The sheer beauty of the result actually motivated me a lot to get back into my own hobbies again. Often, these kinds of videos impress me but somehow leave me a bit pessimistic concerning my own possibilities and skills. This one left only positive thoughts. Thank you very much!
(EDIT: I hope I don't come across like I think your amazing art is just a "hobby", sorry. I was just thinking of myself.)
Thank you so much for the kind words and glad to hear how my video effected you 🙂 well it all started as a hobby then escalated quick 😀
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you 🙂
I’ve seen so many crafts, yours is the most aesthetic! I would buy one like this))
That was seriously one of the most cool lathe projects I have seen yet.
You did an amazing job- it’s gorgeous!
Thank you so much 😀
Gorgeous work! Great job 👍 💞

Absolutely stunning! Wow!
Beautiful! David, i was so excited to see this one and it didn't disappoint! When you opened the box of those gorgeous dried flowers, i knew you were going to make something lovely. It really looks fantastic! Also, I'm still really enjoying the voice overs. I'm also bilingual so i get where you're coming from on that. I didn't check if anyone else guessed yet but I'd say maybe you're originally from Hungary?
That is just stunning! I was curious to see what you were going to do with the dried flowers above the resin. I really enjoy the projects you're posting.
As to where you're from, I've been trying to figure that out since the first video I saw. I assumed it was somewhere in Britain, but maybe Ireland/Gaelic??? I'm from the US so I'm a bit hopeless as to where different accents are in the UK. ...And Australia, New Zealand, Europe...so pretty much from anywhere (although I do try).
Thank you so much Kalyn ! Originally from Hungary but have been living un the UK for the past 13 yrs. :)
This is very nice, David. The project turned-out very well. You have a talent for color and composition.
My MIL is from Japan as a child in WW2 she watched from the tops of bomb shelters at 5 as her city got bombed, survived when her mother didn’t come home on her own at 12, and then immigrated to America on her own and taught herself to speak English. People with accents are survivors and explores and well worth the time getting to know.
Thank you so much for the very detailed guess 😀
I am from Hungary :)
Oh wow so stunningly beautiful! Your a amazing artist ! I always wished I could do wood turning but it’s so much money to start so many tools needed! I’m curious how have people taken to the voice overs ? I’m of two minds about it ! It’s interesting hearing about the process but I also like the quiet ones .. that’s what hit me into watching these vids originally was I would zone out and found it very soothing the sound of the machines and watching the work but the asmr side of it is lost with the voice over . Just a thought maybe you could do a poll and see what others think ? Maybe you could do a bit if both , some vids voice over but some just silent and more asmr relaxing !? Just a suggestion though obviously not trying to tell you what to do ! ❤️ still like watching either way
Thank you so much 🙂 Before I started voiceovers I had a poll on my youtube community tab (still there) and sofar had like 800 responses with 75% wanted to hear voice over so I started doing it. Then the response from the audience have been overwhelming in the most positive way and I also started to enjoy doing it 😀 So much is going in to make a project and telling you all my way of thinking is great (to me for sure) but fully understand the ASMR videos can be very relaxing I also do like them depending on the content.
@@DavidsWoodturning ohh ok cool yea that makes sense , like I said I do like both ways too. And again your work is amazing your so talented !
@@pinki8888 Thank you so much 🙂
Stunning!
Hello how are you doing?
Adding the glitter was inspired. It's subtle and doesn't distract.
I usually think epoxy resin stuff is ugly but I really like it
Wow that's brilliant.😁😁😁
Beautiful!! Coming from a florist.
Thank you so much!
This was awesome! I would have loved a longer look at the piece in the end, like a slow turn for the camera. It's beautiful!
Very well said. Whoever speaks another language (i.e. ESL) is still speaking one more than the general population.
Thank you so much 🙂
Wow that’s a beautiful piece
WOW what a masterpiece!!

Thank you so much 😀
You captured spring forever in your design. Excellent. Thank you.
Omg, absofreakinlutely beautiful. So awesome. One of the best pieces I have seen. Gorgeous
Wow, that is stunning!! Re haters & their negative comments, usually it's because they're jealous or don't really like themselves & putting others down makes them feel better & "bigger" 😉
one of my buddies was giving me a hard time about using the pink baking spatula to mix my resin, glade to see others with no color bias in their epoxy game, hahaha
That was just beautiful… I want a lathe now… a lot!❤
WOW~~~~~Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Would LOVE to own that piece!
Amazing woodworking Projects
Thank you very much!
Your English is fantastic, with no er, em, yeah like, you know etc. people should be envious.
I loved watching this! What a beautiful vase. And as an ESL teacher, I had no idea English was not your first language, and I think your accent is very interesting. To me you sound like a native speaker who simply lived in several places as a child.
Thank you so much 🙂
Yeah originally from Hungary but have been living in the UK for some time now. Learnt from other foreigners plus of course form many British colleagues over the past years, hence the mixed accent :)
What a beautiful piece love the colors.
