If you have a BMW that does not crank and start it is very possible that it could be just a bad relay for the CAS module. If this relay is bad your car will not start. The symptoms are almost the same as a dead starter. The CAS relay is part of the Immobilizer system and without it you can not start the car. This should relate to:

Maybe you can possibly help me out I have a 07 bmw 328xi new battery problem I’m having is the car starts fine sometimes and then sometimes I get a slow crank and sometimes nothing . I don’t even know where to start would a relay do that or more towards the starter I need help!

My 2008 528i - 130k miles was running perfectly then failed to start at random after a grocery store stop. No Start, No Crank exact symptoms. Changing the relay did not work for me. I had to tow the car to a shop, installing a new starter was the solution. It's a 3.5 hrs to 4 hrs labor job. Thanks Auto Repair Guys for this suggestion, keep posting the videos. I had hoped it would work for me. Hopefully this fix works for others.
The relay is in the trunk of the 2008 528i. Same side as the battery. Not in the glove box. Auto zone and O'reilly Auto Parts stock the part. The BMW dealer spare shop was closed.

@@patriciacordova9375 have u figured out the issue? I got same car same issue disconnecting ibs seemed to temporarily make it start but this morning it did the same after about 15 minutes tho it decided to randomly start again 😂
We tried this, the part is available for 8.99 at your local O'Reilly or auth parts store. Ours a 2008 BMW X5 was located in the rear right side of the cargo bay. Pull out a panel and it will be located behind a small sound blanket.

What was the symptoms of your bmw??
Sometime, if you have one of those BMW with the keyless access, it could just be a tired or dead battery on the key fob. So.... before ordering a new relay or starter, just try to replace the 2032 battery inside the key fob.If the key fob does not send the signal to the immobilizer to let the car start, when you press the start button, it may crank but not let the engine start.
Thanx ,, how about if the key fob doesnt have a battery to replace? Like mine it says i have to buy the whole key fob because the battery charges everytime i insert it in the slot,

Doesn’t the e90 charge the key when it’s in the ignition? If so a 2032 battery would exode
Comfort access uses a 2032 and doesn't recharge when plugged in. Non-CA uses a proprietary rechargeable battery and recharges when plugged in.
i am having a strange issue where when i put the keyfob into the keyfob slot nothing happens not even any dashboard light indicates that i have put key into the slot but i have both keyfob battery and car baterry dead for 1 week now so lets see after i recharge car battery and keyfob battery mine is not comfort access.

This just started on my girls 535i - but she is not getting enough power to even move the seat adjustment…
We jump start and it will work fine for a few days and then act up again… usually after sitting overnight

I have an x6 2008 and have one month already trying to fix this , the problem , is that My bmw is a mexican vehicle, and where i live , there no x6 bmw retailers , so its hard to find a certified mechanic 😢 that can do a good job , but ill try this tomorrow and see if it works 😅 thank you !
Hey guys thanks for all your help you've been there alot for me lol but I'm having the same issue except I changed the relay and I know it's that one cuz the glove box light went out with it and it's still not on I put a test light to make sure power was going to the relay and it is what direction can I go now cuz I'm stumped that the starts not there and the glove box and only some of the lights on the dash its like there's no on position

I have the same problem with a 2010 BMW 730. I think I have the same problem with the fuse, even though I did a complete maintenance on it.
I did replace the relay and car work for cable days and the relay get worm and car no start when its worm 530i 2004

Would the dealership sell this relay and how much would they charge?
First, check the ground before doing anything, Jump the start, and put negative directly to the engine
Have x5m e70 tries to crank but doesn’t turn over and fuse box isn’t in that area
Yeah I found out my starter cable runs all the way in the back
trunk connecting to the Terminal Distribution Fuse Junction Plate
and that's why my suv wouldn't start. I tested all the positive cables and found out one wasn't
hot which was the starter cable.

Hey this is a great video! but I can’t seem to figure out if it’s the same issue with my 2008 bmw 535xi. My alternator was bad so we replaced it but beforehand we replaced the battery. Battery wasn’t the issue however we left the new battery in. This was about a month ago and today I attempted to replace the battery back to the old one, we had to jump start it and it turned on after a few times trying and leaving it connected for a good 30 min. Left it on for 1 hour and turned it off and tried turning it on a few times but wouldn’t work. We reapplied the new battery and same thing, this time it wouldn’t make a sound while turning on but all the electrical components work and it was reading 12.1 v to 12.3v. Do you think it may be the starter after attempting to start up the vehicle after many many times? Or what could it be
Hi there, I have a 2009 320D that has a frustrating issue where after driving for a while in hot weather it refuses to crank when you try to re-start. If I wait about 30 minutes it starts and runs without any issues. No error codes are being returned, it has full normal dash lights, accessories etc, it just doesn't crank. Is this relay susceptible to heat on a hot day which could cause this issue?

@@eduardoochoa9847 I found my issue a while ago, i found alot of water underneath the battery, cables were dead green and one was off. Cut the cables and put new cabl shoes, works perfectly :)
@Mee Acownt can be pretty much anything if your car doesn’t start. Do you have water under your battery?

Sup x5 world. 03 x5 3.0 no crank no start. After i diagnosed the x i found out the ecu see the its in D but its in Park tho. Also i can't communicate with my tcm at all
So with that say
1. Do i need and ecu ( guessing yes)
2. Does the ecu effect the tcm in anyway
3. Where does the cluster get its indicator for the shift indicator

Every morning, I will need to reset my time. Comfort access door opening will not work. Car will not start at first attempt. Will keep making clicking sounds like battery is weak. 1st..
check the voltage under the hood .
if it is not transfered from the battery in the back, you need to to check the battery connector if it is connected to the front with a multimeter.
2001 X5, ran perfect the evening. Before, ran perfectly to my destination in the a.m. Had to disconnect battery to fix a regulator in driver window. Wrapped that up, NOW will not start!!?? Battery brand new.... PLEASE HELP!
Check terminal connections on the battery. Check voltage with multimeter.
@@priceaction00yah I tried that one of the 1st things I did, I've since replaced ALL relays,checked fuses, tried to re-program/reset cars computer by holding the trip button down as explained by another cat on you tube but the "red light" has never came on no matter what I do, thing is driving me berzerk
If the new battery is not the exact same as the old one it needs to be registered to the car.

Hi guys , i have a 2005 320d with the M47 motor that has an intermittent no crank no start. When you press the start button all the dash lights and ignition come on but then you will only hear a click when trying to start. Car has a brand new battery as i thought this was the issue. This problem mostly occurs in the morning after the car has sat for a while but can also happen after a drive. Please help. Could the relay be the issue or what else could possibly be the issue? Sometimes the car will crank and start fine for a few days then others it wont.

My hubby gave it to me to when he went to prison now I have all these issues with it. I have no one to help me. It really needs a tube up but can’t afford it n it does smoke. Smog guy told me to switch to 50/50 conventional oil n lucas oil. Any suggestions? Ty!
