The Jewish community surely does deserve the right to exist freely without being subject to the persecution they are forcing on other people now. But not on the land of another nation, of Palestine.
About the pact, it was highly discriminatory in nature. About 55% of the land was partitioned for the Jews and 45% for the Arabs despite the Arabs being both the natural inhabitants of the land and them being higher in numeric population. Makes any sense?
Just as you would expect, the neighboring Arab countries declared war on Israel along with the Arab rejection of the pact who were bitterly disappointed. But strengthened by the unconditional support of the US, who saw Israel as a potential leveraging pawn for establishing US hegemony in the resource rich middle east and the support of most other European nations, supplied by arms, ammunition, resources and population, Israel badly beat the Arab forces and captured multiple lands.
But as the years passed, Egypt slowly started to threaten Israel with its military superiority (without the nukes that Israel possesses, also probably supplied by the US) and Israel cleverly instantly gave back the Sinai peninsula as it could not just keep waging war against Egypt and continuing to win. It also possessed the Syrian Golan Heights. At the time it is also worth mentioning that none of the so called Arab nations fighting for Palestine were fully innocent on their own, as they themselves took control of Palestinian land.
But as Israel established hegemony over the area, along with US interests, they began to take more and more land, and began to oppress the people who live peacefully on what is left of the broken, shattered Palestinian lands. Apartheid came into being, and racism and stealing of houses & territories in carefully crafted programs called "settlements" happened.
In other words, an apartheid occupation led by a so called "democracy" in the middle east.
Naturally, the Palestinian people voted to power someone who promised them to keep their dignity which was constantly being hurt by this one hell of a criminal regime called Israel. Hamas did more bad than good. But remember, their actions are far from just, but their cause is noble. In the case of Israel, both the actions and the cause are nefarious, and disproportionately so. Hamas isn't innocent, but Israel is orders of magnitudes worse.
Since when did the world think that going to someone's land, settling there and denying the original people a stake in rebuilding their lives was OK?
I'll supplement this with a real life example, imagine a burglar comes to your house. Your neighbors suddenly say that he is a rightful owner of 3½ out of the 6 areas of your house, they divide it without your permission. And when you protest and go to fight the burglar with your other neighbors, the former group supplies the burglar with high tech weapons and beats you badly with it. The burglar becomes crueller day by day as they now start to spread their poison within the meagre areas that you posses. And when slightly hurt, the burglar plays the victim card and launches disproportionate responses in the form of attacks.
I'm pretty sure you'd root for the burglar, wouldn't you? You'd probably enjoy the life of the house owner...

Anyhow they had a vote over the issue at hand at the time and the council member's voted 9-to-1 in favour of Israeli membership (nationhood) with Egypt voting against and the United Kingdom abstaining. Those voting in favour were China, France, the United States, the Soviet Union, Argentina, Canada, Cuba, Norway, and the Ukrainian SSR.
By the way you obviously wont like this but as Palestine isn't a recognized UN member, so it isn't by definition a nation.

They are in a concentration camp controlled by the Israeli government. Some Palestinians in Gaza receive only 20 L to 50 L of water per person per day, a situation that has been ongoing for decades due to Israel’s control over the water supply. In contrast, the average water consumption in Israel is 300 L per day. According to the UN, the minimum human consumption for water is 150 L. Israel is purposefully oppressing them by depriving them of this basic necessity of life. By using Google Maps to zoom in on Gaza and then in Israel, you can see the stark difference between the two regions: one appears as a slum, while the other boasts beautiful, spacious areas with farming and a high quality of life.
