Jake that was an unbelievable video. Love the new style and review of the air 3 . It’s like one of your old video that you did about about the glacier. The landscape and the way you shot it didn’t even seem like a review more like a movie trailer . Well done 👍
If this isn't the best demonstration of how to put together a quality drone review video, then I don't know what is. From the always breathtaking video, the 'short & sweet' tech specs, to the in depth talk of the more important features (and the lack there of), not to mention the excellent story telling approach, Jake you continue to raise the bar and give others like me the inspiration and insight on how to do it right. 💯 Kudos my friend 👏👏
RIGHT? I keep thinking back to the original Air and how it had like 12 minutes of flight time and a terrible wifi control signal that could barely go a couple of blocks lol
I'm pretty excited about the Air3. The image quality - even in photo mode - is pretty good for the small sensor. Despite the problems mentioned, I work in 48 megapixel mode, I can correct mostly of the fringing/ca problems. My main criticisms: - no automatic panorama possible with the 70mm lens... - with the 70mm lens you can only take 3 pictures in AEB mode and you cannot choose how much the exposure changes. 5 images would be absolutely necessary, even if saving them takes longer.
This is the best review and you timed the release of it perfectly. I love the non traditional approach you took to tell your story and this was executed flawlessly. Cheers Jake!
Hey Jake, even though I have been owning the Air 3 since its release and know all the things you talked about, I really enjoyed watching this. I've been following you for quite some time now. Your reviews and videos in general are always in depth and give the impression that you're really working a lot with drones and know what you're talking about. Love the style of the video. Keep it going.
@@JakeSloanJake, may I ask what kind of camera you used to get that shot at 1:46 and how you attached it to the drone arm? I have seen such shots a few times but can't figure out how this works... 🙂 Thanks in advance, I appreciate your help.
cracked up at 0:55 -- "...push the limits ... errr ... que DJICare" Jake this is some of your best content I've seen, and perhaps some of the best on YT. Great production value, cohesive collection of shots, and a pleasure to watch. In the world of YT these days and all of the well-lit specification readers, this vid was truly refreshing 👏👏👏
I thought it was awesome... loved it the whole way through and appreciate/respect the time and effort involved. Excellent video and review. I have the Air 3 and purchased the Neewer ND pack. With the "Freewell Split ND 4-Pack Filter Kit for Air 3" you promoted in your video, I have a question: I thought the whole idea behind the two lenses in the Air 3 was that they had the same light sensitivity and you didn't need accommodate for that like you have to on the Mavic 3 Pro. So why is it necessary with the 2 cameras on the Air 3? Thanks, Jake!
Thanks Chris, it would be great if they did have the same light sensitivity but since the 70mm is 2.8 and the 24 is 1.7 that's a little over a stop of light difference so the split filters are basically a stop difference as well
I remember when I started watching your videos. I was still new to creating videos and photos back then. I tried to learn how ND filters work, I watched various videos and there were only comparisons and I didn't know what to pay attention to. When I came across your video, you explained everything to me within a few minutes of the video. I started watching you from then on. You are the only creator who records different videos than everyone else. the area in which you record, the fact that you arrive there by helicopter makes your films better than those of other creators I watch. I would like to make videos like yours one day. And this video is probably the best one you've ever made. If you didn't mention the disadvantages of this drone (of course, it's good that you showed them), you would probably convince me to buy it more than DJI did when presenting it.
Thank you so much! I do talk about the issue with the 48mp photos and a few other downsides but other than that this drone really is an incredible tool for most people, if you mainly do photos with drones then the Air 2s or Mavic 3 classic will be a better choice
@@JakeSloan i record videos most of the time and i bought a drone feom dji recently and i am watching your videos to learn something new and be updated on the "ranking" of camera equipment

Well done on an incredible video Jake. I have to say though, now I've had my Air 3 for a couple of weeks (having only just got an Air 2S a month prior), I am a little disappointed with the 24mm image quality in comparison to the Air 2S. I knew to expect it being not as good as the Air 2S thanks to yours and FlytPath's comparison videos but now seeing my own footage side by side, it's even more of a significant difference than I was thought (maybe due to UA-cam compression?). It generally just looks like when you zoom/crop in that bit too much, just at the point where it starts looking noticeably worse. For example my first reaction to seeing the footage I had to double check that I had actually recorded in 4K and that I wasn't digitally zoomed in. The thing is I don't have any complaints about the image quality coming off the 70mm so I thought maybe there is a defect either with the 24m lens, sensor or the autofocus but having watched many more videos I'm pretty sure there isn't any issue with it. Why I can't pick fault with the 70mm I'm not sure because the sensor I believe is identical, maybe it's down to the aperture? I hate to be one of those guys that criticise something which as you've proven here can produce amazing video footage but I can't help but be a little disappointed with it relative to the Air 2S image quality. It's just a shame because it is a brilliant drone and it's better than the Air 2S in every other way, I guess it gives them something to improve on with the Air 3 Pro.
Jake, Great review and great video. I really appreciated your prospective on these tools of the trade. To the point and not a lot of "pre-paid" fluff. Very much appreciated. I've been thinking Air 3 but I believe I will stick with the reliable Air 2S for a while longer. Thank for sharing.
Wow, great review video, Jake! I like seeing the drone "in action" with all the cool shots you got. That's pretty cool that Freewell developed the split ND filter allowing for the different f-stops on the 2 cameras!
👍exellent review, best footage I have seen from the air3, If I was DJI you would be the first on the list I would send a new drone to review, well done Jake.
Hi Jake....What can I say. You really knocked this one out of the park. The amount of effort to do all this is just for a review is unheard of. Thanks for all you do......

Interesting to hear your take on the 12 vs 48Mp images. I guess I'm going to have to get out and take some comparison pics. Thanks for the review and all the stunning footage.
Jake, WOW is an understatement. Such a masterful video! Stunning imagery, with such a variety of shots! You have set a new benchmark for drone review videos. REFRESHINGLY GOOD REVIEW highlighting the features that actually matter (or don’t, like 48 MP photos) from someone that has obviously spent a good amount of time with this drone. Thank you!
Hi! So this drone has a BSI sensor? Does the Mavic 3 pro have one too? Lastly, what does the M3P offer over this Air 3 that you wouldn’t give up, or would you? Trying to decide between the 2. The variable aperture must be one, and you tell me if the bigger 4/3 sensor makes a 1000.00 difference. Thanks and keep up the good work!
I like how you can show the difference with transition from D Log to an edited version, so smoothly! Before and transition to after.... very smoothly. I suppose if you own a M3 original, what does the Air 3 offer that the M3 doesn't? Aside from longer range? Great video. Most may not see the fringing aside from ... professional nerds. Doesn't look that bad
I really like the images from the Mavic 3 Classic. Could you tell me if the 3x zoom of the classic is good enough for video? Or would it be better to go for the Air 3?
It's great for sure but the Air 2s still holds better photo quality and I think better video quality by a slight bit, did you see my comparison? ua-cam.com/video/ey5hG4b5Tds/v-deo.html

If you have mavic 3 pros then I’d say no. The image out of the main camera on yhe mavic is better by a fair bit and the 70 is exactly the same BUT you also get that 166! The weight savings and size savings is minimal between the two
First off, one of the best videos I’ve seen by a solo creator, period, hands down. I picked up the 3 last week, and being nasty a photographer, I’m very disappointed over my 2s. Now I have the tough decision, do I send it back and wait, or keep it and sell later for hopefully a better sensor for still photos. Your thoughts?
If you have the 2s you definitely all ready have the better photo drone, I hate to say it but I would send it back and if you want to upgrade the Air2s for more flight time better range/handling etc look at the Mavic classic, It's video and photo quality are stellar
I'm very happy to see your opinion on this new drone. Your opinion is so positive - it sounds like you are sponsored, even though you say you are not. I now own this A3, and I am one happy camper with what this A3 is capable of, so It's a pleasure to hear you are as well. Thanx for your honest evaluation!
Jake you're review just blew my mind, absolutely amazing, dji must add you to their list of reviewers all of your footage was just stunning and better than any other reviewer.
Love this new format, hoping the investment vs engagement pays off, but i did appreciate it, as someone who shops on emotion this made me almost buy one despite no variable aperture. Often tune in for your chat's see the amount of things people "want" from you - to find time to make this is hard - now if only someone @DJI could respect the craft and start hooking you up - would be great! Best of luck on vide performance.
Great review. Could you provide a video sample in dlog (24mm/70mm) for download somewhere? I would like to compare the image quality with dji PH4pro? Thanks in advance.
Awesome video, I really enjoyed the fabulous scenery you have in Alaska, well done. I was unaware of the split filters, I will be ordering them tomorrow even though I have the eight pack of the Freewell filters for my Air 3. As always great video content.
Absolutely AMAZING!!!!! I loved the footage!!! Will your LUTs work on DJI Mini 3 Pro footage and compatible with Davinci Resolve? And if so, does my footage have to be shot in D-Log? (Which would be done for future footage if D-Log is needed) Thanks for sharing!!!! #Salute #Goals
my LUTs will work with any D-Log and D-Log M footage, I haven't tried them on D-Cine like though so they maybe a bit strong for that since D-Cine like isn't quite as flat as D-Log or D-Log M. I believe they will work with Davinci since they are a .cube file which works with most editing software out there. Should I create a LUT for d-Cine like?
@@JakeSloan Pending on where I film at... My Auto d-cine footage comes out GREAT... But I'm sure it could always be improved... sometimes I use a variable ND filter.. and I also have a CPL filter for night that I haven't used yet.... But I checked your site out, and for the price you're offering at and the results I've seen... I'd personally PAY for Both!!! IJS #Salute
Great video, like the style of presentation and content. There are enough videos on UA-cam offering details about spec etc. looking forward to your next presentations and thank you very much for your efforts in producing them.
Great video! very honest and thorough. Do you think they will release a pro version in 6-12 months like the other DJI drones? Thats my only hesitation in buying the air 3
Superb work Jake and worth the wait! More results driven than spec comparison. Air 3 seems to polarize folks. I've noticed that owners of Mavic 3 Series love it; how it brings many of the Flagship's features into a lighter, agile aircraft at half the cost vs. those who just don't get it. They begged for longer flight times in the Air Series, then unhappy it's heavier than Air 2S. Must have slept through physics class - the weight gain is all battery. With the alloy arms like Mavic 3, the aircraft is likely lighter than Air 2S. Wish someone would weigh the 2 Aircraft 😉 -I don't have a scale. PS An 04, Mini 4 Pro with Waypoints and omnidirectional sensors is about to arrive- for those claiming "DJI doesn't get it" -I beg to differ 😉
Love the review! But I don't think the drone itself provides a notable advantage over the 3 series, besides portability. You just can't beat having a variable aperture function.
I have an Air2S in Ireland and you may know Ireland can be windy. In your opinion is the Air 3 stronger in wind than the Air 2S? Considering changing for that one reason. Initially used the Mini 2 but found it limited in windy situations which is why I upgraded to Air2S which has much better stability in wind
@@JakeSloan Thanks for that. I met a German guy in Kerry and we both had the two drones up.. His Air3 seemed more powerful against the wind. when we both brought them in against a strong land to sea breeze. Not scientific but it impressed me.
Hi Jake! Great show on TNL and yes, you do kind of resemble David Morse. Alaska has endless beautiful landscapes that can also be dangerous and unforgiving. Thank you for taking the time, money and risks involved to show it to me and the rest of the world. Also, how the Air 3 can enhance the viewing experience of drone photography. Thanks to you I can improve my Air 3 footage from the info you provided about the dual lenses needing dual ND filters. Be safe. Sincerely, Brendan AKA: Drone Me Up 😎👍
Awesome video! My Mini Pro 3 got damaged. I was flip flopping back and forth on this as a replacement and the mini 4 pro. I ordered the Air 3 last night and your video this morning was confirmation I made the right choice.
DJI should at least make their own split nd filters considering its not coming with the fly more combo. I bought the freewell split nd filters too, but haven't had time to test them out. great video by the way!
thanks and I agree! I was very disappointed that they didn't include ND filters with the fly more kit and the DJI filters aren't a split ND filter system either
"The Air 3's D-log M yields rich and bold colors and because it's 10-bit (BGM goes silent)...............the footage can be pushed surprisingly far" enter LOUD EPIC GRANDIOSE MUSIC....5 seconds later....Ad. Gee thanks UA-cam for having impeccable timing on the Ad placement. 😂 jokes aside...Jake.....such an epic video review on the Air 3. Stunning clips with amazing views of you on the rocks with a reveal of a lake off in the distance. The music too just helped drive just how beautiful and amazing the footage captured by the A3 can be. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Oh and you're right. Just like you said earlier, "the footage speaks for itself
I always shoot with 12MP on my mini 3 and if I want a high-resolution later, Photoshop/Lightroom’s or Photomator’s super-resolution feature gives me an identical 48MP result.
Great video, spectacular footage. I visited Alaska from the UK back in 2010 for a month and would sell my soul to have had a drone back then - so beautiful. Thanks for the unbiased review. I'm still holding out for the 1" sensor version 👍
Just got mine last weekend. Rain in the Northeast has kept me from putting it up. Just ordered the k&f nd’s as availability for the freewell split ones are zilch right now. I’ll be looking to pick up your luts next.
Great video Jake. DJI always uses photographers who use dark sunglass type filtered images which in my opinion might look good, but not so realistic. If I wanted to see the world in a depressed gloomy way than I would wear sunglasses. However, sunglasses irritate me because I would rather see the world as it is; bright and colorful. You used ND filtering too, but not too much of it. I was stationed at Ft. Wainwright in Alaska so I understand why your using them. Snow is bright. You need to drop the light level to avoid overexposed images. Sir, your exposures look natural and the balance is just right. I remember Alaska like I was there just yesterday. So screw DJI's videographer picks. Your video here was top notch and much better than some of the so called hand selected pro videos. At least that's my opinion anyway. You really captured the Alaskan wilderness perfectly. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
Thank you for the detailed video, I'm looking to purchase an Air 3 after seeing what you have shot with it. In other videos they say you have to purchase a seperate charger on top of the fly more package. Can you please tell me if this is correct or will it be chargeable out of the box. Cheers, Clint.
Well done! You got this, and this was an awesome review. My guess is DJI PR watches your channel and knows you're going to purchase and do a review anyway right!
Hey Jake I forgot to ask you in the chat last week. And I'll try to keep it like simple because you know the comments. How much better is the battery life on the Air 3 in real world compared to the Mavic 3 Pro real world? I remember I asked you about the signal difference but I forgot to ask you about the battery difference. Btw I really did like this review and how you put it together.
Jake, great video! I did notice a different style and it worked well. As always, great scenery. I hope you feel guilty every day you walk on those glaciers or shoot those glacier pools, ha ha.
You're welcome! It is a fantastic drone with just a couple of issues like the photos but other than that the air 3 is an amazing drone for most people
Just incredible Jake as always ! I like both formats
Awesome, thank you!
Jake you're review just blew my mind, absolutely amazing, dji must add you to their list of reviewers all of your footage was just stunning and better than any other reviewer.
Thank you so much
Love this new format, hoping the investment vs engagement pays off, but i did appreciate it, as someone who shops on emotion this made me almost buy one despite no variable aperture. Often tune in for your chat's see the amount of things people "want" from you - to find time to make this is hard - now if only someone @DJI could respect the craft and start hooking you up - would be great! Best of luck on vide performance.
I'm really glad you liked the format!
Best Air 3 review I' ve seen. Thank you Jake. Great work!!!
My pleasure!
Such a great review Jake, super well done!
Thanks a ton!
An informative and absolutely stunning video. Based on this review I have ordered the Freewell filters you presented. Cheers from Wisconsin, Jake.
Awesome and thanks George
Absolutely beautiful review there Jake
Thank you Steven!
Great review. Could you provide a video sample in dlog (24mm/70mm) for download somewhere? I would like to compare the image quality with dji PH4pro? Thanks in advance.
I'll have to see about a way to do that
The makeshift ND was genius!
Thank you!
Great review! Loved the waypoint shot @4:05
That is literally one of my top 10 shots of all time lol I was SO stoked when I got it
Awesome video, I really enjoyed the fabulous scenery you have in Alaska, well done. I was unaware of the split filters, I will be ordering them tomorrow even though I have the eight pack of the Freewell filters for my Air 3. As always great video content.
I'm glad to hear it was helpful!
This was a great review
Thank you!
Fabulous Jake! Great review!👍👍
Thank you!
WOW Jake,... WOW!!!!
Thanks!
IJS #Salute
This video is awesome, Best drone review I have watched in a while.
Thank you so much
Really great review. And cinematically beautiful. I appreciate your candor on both the high points and the lows. Great stuff.
Much appreciated!
This is an amazing review! Love your storytelling. The footage you got is just stunning 👏
Thank you
Wow! Jake. Just amazing and out of this world footage. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Take that DJI! lol Great video. Quality was unmatched!
hahahaha thanks
Great and really helpful real world review. Just would love the scenery you have around you to fly in!! Thanks Jake.
Thank you so much
Great video, like the style of presentation and content. There are enough videos on UA-cam offering details about spec etc. looking forward to your next presentations and thank you very much for your efforts in producing them.
Thanks!
Amazing like always from you
thank you
Great video! very honest and thorough. Do you think they will release a pro version in 6-12 months like the other DJI drones? Thats my only hesitation in buying the air 3
Who knows lol I can't image what else they would add
PS An 04, Mini 4 Pro with Waypoints and omnidirectional sensors is about to arrive- for those claiming "DJI doesn't get it" -I beg to differ 😉
agreed!! and thank you
Love the review! But I don't think the drone itself provides a notable advantage over the 3 series, besides portability. You just can't beat having a variable aperture function.
agreed!
Almost all of your shots were spectacular, the rest were great. I think you made the Air 3 look better than it probably is. Well done.
Thank you very much
I have an Air2S in Ireland and you may know Ireland can be windy. In your opinion is the Air 3 stronger in wind than the Air 2S? Considering changing for that one reason. Initially used the Mini 2 but found it limited in windy situations which is why I upgraded to Air2S which has much better stability in wind
It is better but not then same amount of difference as the difference between the mini series and the air 2s
Be safe. Sincerely, Brendan AKA: Drone Me Up 😎👍
awesome so glad to hear it!
Awesome video! My Mini Pro 3 got damaged. I was flip flopping back and forth on this as a replacement and the mini 4 pro. I ordered the Air 3 last night and your video this morning was confirmation I made the right choice.
glad to hear it!
This is quite literally breathtaking 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you
DJI should at least make their own split nd filters considering its not coming with the fly more combo. I bought the freewell split nd filters too, but haven't had time to test them out. great video by the way!
thanks and I agree! I was very disappointed that they didn't include ND filters with the fly more kit and the DJI filters aren't a split ND filter system either
Wow! Thanks a lot for the great Video! Awesome footage und great editing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great review Jake, can't wait to see some earlier premieres from you once DJI realizes they're slacking on an Alaskan Gold Mine here. ✌🏻
You and me both!
Brilliantly done ❤
Thank you!
Jake awesome video! Your skills make it look easy. Thanks you!
Thanks Steve
Great stuff! As always a nice review.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just like you said earlier, "the footage speaks for itself
hahahaha thank you so much!
Very nice video
Thanks
I always shoot with 12MP on my mini 3 and if I want a high-resolution later, Photoshop/Lightroom’s or Photomator’s super-resolution feature gives me an identical 48MP result.
Exactly and it's a better way to go about it too.
Great overview and incredible photography. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
very good review. as always, great scenery. keep doing them this way.
Thanks and thats the plan!
great content
Thanks
A completely different level of review, I liked it, thank you very much. 👍🏼👌🏼
Eran
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video, spectacular footage. I visited Alaska from the UK back in 2010 for a month and would sell my soul to have had a drone back then - so beautiful. Thanks for the unbiased review. I'm still holding out for the 1" sensor version 👍
that will be amazing! I'm glad to hear you had a great trip here!
Just got mine last weekend. Rain in the Northeast has kept me from putting it up. Just ordered the k&f nd’s as availability for the freewell split ones are zilch right now. I’ll be looking to pick up your luts next.
I'm sure the K&F ones will work just fine, I hope you get the chance to fly soon!
Great Photographer, thank you! Great video and content!
Much appreciated!
This review is simply next level! Incredible!
Thanks a lot!
Cheers!
Thank you very much! I know why DJI and other companies do that, but I agree it doesn't look natural.
Thank you for the detailed video, I'm looking to purchase an Air 3 after seeing what you have shot with it. In other videos they say you have to purchase a seperate charger on top of the fly more package. Can you please tell me if this is correct or will it be chargeable out of the box. Cheers, Clint.
if you get the fly more combo it comes with a multi battery charger, otherwise you can charge the battery in the drone via usb-c
Well done! You got this, and this was an awesome review. My guess is DJI PR watches your channel and knows you're going to purchase and do a review anyway right!
lol probably...
this is the best review ever do more like this!
That's my plan!
dji should send you a big check because this is fantastic marketing for them. You always make very helpful videos.
I wish lol, thank you for the kind words
Thanks for that. I've read the flymore comes with a battery bank but you still have to get a charger to plug into this. Cheers, Clint
Yes you do but any usbc charger with 60w power delivery will work.
Jake, this is absolutely incredible footage, I just purchased the DJI Air and split panel ND filter. Where in Alaska was this filmed?
Thank you! This was filmed in many different locations ranging from several areas of prince William sound to deep in the Talkeetna mountains
It's easily 5-6min better depending on how you are flying...
Jake, great video! I did notice a different style and it worked well. As always, great scenery. I hope you feel guilty every day you walk on those glaciers or shoot those glacier pools, ha ha. Looks like the Air 3 would have won out for me if it had been available when I got my Mini 3 Pro earlier this year.
Thanks John!
