Labor nurse here! I think your list sounds great. I never care how much my patients bring with them. As long as they have what they want/need to be comfy. All labor hospitals try to have the essential stuff available incase someone pops out a baby so hopefully that can ease your mind!! My favorite labor experience had essential oils going with Christian music and fairy lights draped around the room. It was so peaceful and made for a great laboring environment. I gave birth recently in a Brisbane hospital, and if your going public… Bring way more then 4 pads. The hospital only gave one right after labour, then I had to supply my own. The adult nappies are also amazing for the first few days postpartum. If you get any gushes or clots, you can just throw the whole thing out, and it catches so much more blood then the maternity pads do.
This makes my heart so happy. I gave birth to my little girl yesterday afternoon and she is my whole heart outside my body. I would do it over and over again. I’m so beyond excited for you and all that you preparing to experience. Truly a miracle what our bodies are capable of. Thinking of you and gabe and baby girl ❤
Omg! I’m so excited! I can’t wait 🥰 PS. It’s so much easier to bring a rolling suitcase so that there’s no carrying needed. especially after birth you can’t carry a lot so it’ll be a big help for Gabe to just roll the suitcase and carry the baby car seat.
100% agree, we used a suitcase and I pushed it on the way in (I was in labour and needed something to lean on and steady myself when I had a contraction (I had about 5 walking from the car to the hospital suit). It also meant I didn’t need to dig into the bag to find something as everything was in packing cubes so was easy to pull a bag out and see what I needed

I found taking my own pillow to the hospital made me more comfy, having something from home. Not sure what the pillows are like in the qld hospitals but the nsw were loud to sleep on. Having your own cozy blanket for both you and gabe is a game changer. Snacks!! I enjoyed having high waisted leggings because it felt nice to have something to keep my tummy snug when leaving the hospital.

Jess looks so cute pregnant! I’ve heard from one of my pregnancy books that if you’re shorter, or have a shorter torso, the baby will grow outward, and if you’re tall or have a longer torso, the baby grows lengthwise, so that’s probably why you look on the smaller size! I’m not sure how tall you are but you look tall 😊 so excited for you and the baby!

So excited for you guys to have your first Bub! Been following your journey since before you got married, and it’s so incredible to see how far you’ve come! From my own experience, at least over here in NZ, hospital provided nappies, wipes, wooly clothes and swaddles/blankies for them to be in in the hospital, big maternity pads for you, tampons aren’t recommended for first 6 weeks after birth ( that may just be what I got told as I had a C-section) I’d say at least 2 outfits for bubba to come home in, I had a premmie and a new born outfit for each babe (had twins) I really liked loose fitting pants/trackies, hospital provided net undies for after birth, a nursing singlet / nursing bra w lose singlet overtop, and just a cover shirt to go with it like a flannel, but you sound so so organised, and I had my bags packed from about 30 weeks for me and babes because being twins, they coulda come at anytime, and I was so glad I did pack when I did, because we had them at 36weeks and all my stuff was in my car boot ready to go! Sorry I haven’t got a more detailed list, I got rid of it after I had them, and they’re nearly 2 so was a wee while ago now. Best of luck with labour and delivery, hope everything goes super smoothly for you guys, sending love and blessings to you 3 from over the ditch in NZ! 🇳🇿

I would pack everything into a luggage so you don’t have so many bags, and have Gabe know where things are located so you don’t have to shuffle through everything to find something. & you might want some baby mittens so they don’t scratch their tiny face.

Things I used most in my hospital bag; 1) Boppy for breastfeeding 2)Portable fan 3)Extra pillows 4)Extra long phone charger 5)Travel size shampoo and body wash 6)Chapstick 7)Sleeping mask because there is always some sort of light on in the room Didn't need any postpartum things like pads because the hospital provided it.

So exciting! And for my second birth I did a bit more things to make me really comfortable in labor (like laboring in my own cozy robe instead of a hospital gown) and I will say it made so much if a difference in enjoying my labor and being comfy! So don’t let anyone tell you you over did it packing or anything, because nothing beats being as comfy as possibly during labor!! So excited for you and your family! 💕

This is an exciting month! My original due date was July 29th, but I am being induced on the 18th. I started many things, but have yet to complete everything that needs to be done. And I'm wondering if I'll make it to my induction date lol. The experience can make you nervous, as I was with my first and still am now with my second. But, also just an exciting time to finally meet the baby we carry for 9 months! Happy for you guys, congratulations!

I’d recommend bringing some type of headache/pain reliever medicine in case hubby or you need that. One less thing to add to the hospital bill! Also, I’d recommend doing some iced pads in the freezer for the lady parts postpartum! Another life saver for me was having paper plates and easy throw away items so I didn’t have to do a lot of dishes the first few months. Honestly, that saved my life! ☺️

I'd highly recommend the "Christian Hypnobirthing" app and also your airpods! Popping in my earphones and just listening to the tracks on the apps really helped me to focus and peacefully breathe through the contractions. Third labour and by far my best yet!

Yup I agree! I used a carryon and it was so much easier for my husband to roll out with it instead of carrying multiple bags plus the car seat lol

I had my girl in 2019 & your list is pretty much what I took. I took a special blanket for my bed for my stay after delivery and I’m glad I did coz it did get cold on the ward. Wishing you all the best & for a safe labour!

So exciting! And for my second birth I did a bit more things to make me really comfortable in labor (like laboring in my own cozy robe instead of a hospital gown) and I will say it made so much if a difference in enjoying my labor and being comfy! So don’t let anyone tell you you over did it packing or anything, because nothing beats being as comfy as possibly during labor!! So excited for you and your family! 💕

I think a blanket from home was a wonderful thing to bring. It made me sooo comfortable and got the baby use to the smell of our home.

This is an exciting month! My original due date was July 29th, but I am being induced on the 18th. I started many things, but have yet to complete everything that needs to be done. And I'm wondering if I'll make it to my induction date lol. The experience can make you nervous, as I was with my first and still am now with my second. But, also just an exciting time to finally meet the baby we carry for 9 months! Happy for you guys, congratulations!

I’d recommend bringing some type of headache/pain reliever medicine in case hubby or you need that. One less thing to add to the hospital bill! Also, I’d recommend doing some iced pads in the freezer for the lady parts postpartum! Another life saver for me was having paper plates and easy throw away items so I didn’t have to do a lot of dishes the first few months. Honestly, that saved my life! ☺️

I'd highly recommend the "Christian Hypnobirthing" app and also your airpods! Popping in my earphones and just listening to the tracks on the apps really helped me to focus and peacefully breathe through the contractions. Third labour and by far my best yet!
