Thanks for the tip on the cracked frames! You just saved me a lot of hassle looking at older frame sets.
Happy to help!
Really good review, got exactly the same bike combo. Epic Evo 2022 Sworks and a 2020 Enduro Expert....all bases covered. Going to check my Enduro headtube bearing seat now though!!
Thanks! That's quite the bike quiver! Hope your bike's not cracked, but hey if it is at least you know Specialized will take good care of you.
Sick!! The Enduro is my next ride.
It's an awesome bike!
Insane quality content, love it lads!
Thank you!
I would definitely still get it despite the frame issues, specialized is always great about there warranties. If anything you'll walk out with a better frame 😂
Great bike. I’ve managed to set loads of PRs on climbs and on the way back down. Perfect bike if you avoid the head tube issue.
It's definitely a more well rounded bike than most would expect with 170mm travel
Great video! Just subscribed. More cool MTB videos for me to watch!
Thanks and welcome! Plenty of content coming soon!
I bought an Enduro Comp a couple years ago, it’s an S4, sort of wish I went with the S3 for the climbs. I’m upgrading my handlebars to Deity too. I was going to throw them on but now I think I’ll take it to the shop and have them check out the headset, make sure there is not issue. I’m coming up on that 2-year warranty haha.
Thank you for the review!🫡
It's a great bike! I also like the deity bars a lot, good choice! Unfortunately that's the downfall of buying used, you don't get the lifetime warranty. Hope there are no issues!
How tall are you?
I'm 6-0, 218. I have a Turbo Levo Comp in S4 that fits perfectly. I got an S4 Enduro Comp and it feels borderline large, but I haven't tried an S3 Enduro to compare.
Dang i mean even if it has head tube issus i still would get it. Matter of fact, i have one. I started with a comp, it cracked, they had nothing else in stock, so i got an s works😂.
haha so accurate with the bike being able to change color. My blue comp turned into black s works after headset cup cracks
Nice! How long did it take you to get the new frame?
That Reddish rock garden tho🥰🥰🥰
You have a good eye my friend!
Just ordered my ‘23 S3 Comp. They are on sale for £2800!!! (We also get a tax break if purchased through my employer, I’m paying £2100!)
I’m 5’ 10” but I like a playful bike, I’ve been on a L 29” Siskiu N and the S3 is lower & longer. Which is exactly what I want.
Mines comes with GX, RS S Dlux Coil, Zeb Select!
Got my DT E532’s on Halo Supadrives, Maxxis DH/DD rubber & my Renthal Cockpit to go on.
It’s going to be a fricking beast, can’t wait.,
That's awesome! Congrats on the new bike!
Nice video, thank you.
Thank you, glad you liked it!
Hi I have the same. What factory settings did you use ? 2022 settings are not online … so wondering how you got the X2 set ? It has an RX tune so not easy to compare to other bike setups. The performance series does not come with the HSC or the bottom high speed rebound.
I used the factory settings recommended by Fox you can find the setup guides on their website. I then did some bracketing to fine tune. I'm 180 lbs geared up for reference, here is my setup.
Fox 38: 93 psi 1 vol reducer, LSR 6 HSR 3 HSC 5 LSC 12
Fox X2: 220 psi LSR 6 LSC 8
Bit of a bummer specialized still hasn't updated their bike setup tool. Hope this helps!
I would be fine with the headset cracking issue with their great warranty. They are easy to access with so many dealer locations, and your bike may go in as a comp, for example, and come out as an S-WORKS hahahahhaha
Thanks for the comment! Sounds like you're speaking from experience lol. How long did it take you to get the replacement frame?
@@HandlebarVentures Unfortunately I’m not speaking from experience at all…the enduro is probably my dream bike 🤣
It's a great bike!
Haha agree with this! My frame was discovered to have some very small stress cracks around bottom bracket and they had a new frame in shop and built up within a fortnight. Cracks were found by the shop while in for a repair and the new frame was in the mail before I even new about the issue
That's a great bike shop! Glad you had a positive experience as well!
How did you notice that your headsets cracked? I have a 2021 enduro and it has a noticeable creak in the headset.
Headset was creaking. Took apart to clean and regrease and noticed the crack.
Great bike but never got along with not being able to slam the seat down to the frame.
Good point! I had to settle with a 180mm dropper. More would be great though!
I'm 5'6" and just got the 2022 in size S2. I like how nimble it is but have run into knee pain, even though the saddle height it correct (matched to previously fit bike). Wondering if this is caused by how slack the seat tube is, not allowing my knee/leg to track correctly, leading to strain. Any issues with this?
Personally no issues with fitment causing knee pain. I'd recommend watching some bike fit videos and sliding the seat forward if it feels too far back. Make sure your sag is dialed in first though as the suspension cycles the angles change, this makes dialing in bike fit extra tricky.
It only has a 3mm rearward axle path....which it is already at 14% through it's travel......
Thanks for the comment. Right around the 40mm travel point is when the axle is most rearward (only about 2 mm rearward). It then moves forward. The Enduro rear axle path does not move as far forward as most other bikes without a high pivot for example the SJ Evo moves forward roughly 20 mm vs the Enduro 15mm. There are pros and cons to both but this definitely helps the bike from feeling like it is getting hung up, especially on roots and other obstacles you typically unweight over.
Hi, I have been riding mtb enduro bikes for the last 14 years now. I have bought bikes from different manufacturers (Trek, Santa Cruz, YT). My latest purchase is the Specialized e-mtb Turbo Comp with an aluminum frame. First, the bike's quality/price ratio is probably one of the worst, if not the worst, in the market today... a very high price for the bike's poor-quality components. Secondly, their customer support is "WORTHLESS" -it looks like people there are trained to reject claims! I say this because their answers show poor thought answers!
Some of the problems with my bike:
1) I had to change the original front and rear tires after a few rides... The tubeless tire sealants were licking all over.
2) Within a year, the rear wheel hub collapsed... I had to buy a new one.
3) The latest one is that the whole frame shows a severe corrosion problem. It is growing all over it at an incredible speed.
MY HUMBLE ADVICE... Run away from Specialized bikes. There are many good bikes out there with better customer support services!
Thanks for the comment! I'm sorry you have had such a horrible experience. Mine has been the opposite with my Specialized bikes, no issues with their customer service. However I have a great local bike shop and that relationship certainly helps. Hope you are able to get the issues resolved.
Only if you want to pay twice the price for something you’ll get from orbea that’s an equal or better … 2022 Rallon I’d choose
A lot of great bikes to choose from now. I've heard good things about Orbea, but I'm a big fan of my Enduro.
What model Orbea would you compare closest to the enduro comp?
@@ThisTall Orbea Rallon would be similar at 170mm suspension. I’ve got one and it’s superb.
Are you still happy with it?
Yes absolutely. The revised layup of the headset has been solid no more cracks!
@HandlebarVentures Thank you for the feedback, I am seriously considering buying a 2022 version and I appreciate your opinion.
You're welcome! Happy to help
Yikes! Sounds like the Land Rover of bikes. Capable, expensive and breaks all the time😂
Hahaha I've never owned a Land Rover but I'll take your word for it. My 2023 frame is still holding strong though! The carbon layup differences are very obvious between the 2022 and 2023 frame. 2023 frames are much more stout in the headset. Seems like Specialized fixed the issue, but time will tell!
Had 2 broken frames in one Season ... no thanks ..
Wow! Yeah I don't blame you after that
@@HandlebarVentures Just check with a flashlight inside the SWAT Box - looked like a spiderweb on my first frame.
Second one had microfractures all over the downtube
The bike industry really does suck. Just build the frame out of alloy ffs. It won't be much heavier, will be a heap cheaper and way less likely to crack. Also, rear air shocks on bikes with +150mm travel that are designed to be ridden hard? Again, stop ramming this unreliable crap down people's throats! Air shocks are absolute shit unless you are WC racer and have a support crew to service the damn thing every couple of months. Mate put a coil Fox DHX2 on his and immediately felt it rode so much better.
Sometimes simpler is better! I prefer the ride feel of a carbon frame vs aluminum though. Thought about switching to a coil but I like the more progressive and playful feel that I get with the air shock on this bike.
