    Great vid. Been using TR for 12 months. Am now doing more than the high volume plan prescribes. Be careful to avoid plateauing and increase the volume. The platform is not perfect but after a while you know how to break it based on experience, how you feel and juggling life.

      @@HandlebarVentures had been cycling for a couple of years prior to starting TR. Competed in a few MTB marathons but had no structured training. Had no idea what intervals or the difference zones were. Average 3-4 rides per weeks @6-7 hours per week. My starting FTP on TR was 270 after 12 months hit 331. The high volume plan has developed muscular endurance. Not sure my FTP will get much higher but I know there still big endurance and fatigue resistant gains in the table.

    • @HandlebarVentures
      @HandlebarVentures 18 днів тому

      For me it's not an issue especially on the xc bike where I tend to be going faster and attacking the climbs. I have Hydras on my Enduro and like them as well. The instant engagement is nice especially on more technical terrain, but not a deal breaker. 240s have less drag when coasting and are lighter.

    Good video .. I am from Maryland .. I live in Abingdon .. Got into MTB'ing as a hobby in the fall of 2020 during the COVID Pandemic .. I have two MTB's a '21 Trek Slash 7 and a '23 Trek Roscoe 8 .. Looking into getting a gravel bike now .. I am still pretty mich a noob as it pertsins to my riding abilities .. I have rode in Palmer State Park a few times .. Its nice to have friends to ride with most rides I am solo but I have met a few other riders I have rode along with down in Bacon Ridge and in Rock Burn anyway I just subscribed to your channel .. Keep the content coming I enjoyed it 👍🏾🙂

      Thank you! Welcome to the channel! One thing I would suggest is to get a "fast gravel" or "all road" type bike for local gravel. In our area you will have to connect the gravel with backroads so ~80% of the ride is spent on asphalt. Maybe I should make a video on my Cervelo Aspero and why I choose it 🤔. Good luck with the gravel bike search!

They also just released the ability to schedule outdoor rides and track other activities like strength training. Been very happy with the updates to TR this year all of them have been very useful. Can't afford a high end carbon wheelset (one day i will) but I'm currently running alloy wtb i35 (35mm internal width) paired with 2.2 continental race Kings. For my fast small rock chunk rides with low pressures around 18psi front 19-20 rear and this setup absolute rips. It's so so fast. With a big amount of grip considering the tiny knobs on the tyre. That tyre molds to the ground and grips on better than anything else Iv come across for the given speed it has. I swap to a larger 2.4 tyre when i go to larger rocky trails that i need more distance between tyre and rim. Wider rims definitely make a large difference. I think as tyres and rims evolve 35mm internal width rims will become the standard like 30mm is today.

    I'm 5'6" and just got the 2022 in size S2. I like how nimble it is but have run into knee pain, even though the saddle height it correct (matched to previously fit bike). Wondering if this is caused by how slack the seat tube is, not allowing my knee/leg to track correctly, leading to strain. Any issues with this?

    • @HandlebarVentures
      @HandlebarVentures 2 місяці тому

      Personally no issues with fitment causing knee pain. I'd recommend watching some bike fit videos and sliding the seat forward if it feels too far back. Make sure your sag is dialed in first though as the suspension cycles the angles change, this makes dialing in bike fit extra tricky.

    I have the Evo 7 and debating the new Epic 8. Your video convinced me to hold off as it not being worth the upgrade. The bumper stop would be nice as the AXS shifter has put some noticeable scratches on the top tube even with protective wrap. I race my Evo 7 and had an Epic 5 gen. At first so much sag and pedal bob but after several races I’m not so tired from all the rocks beating the hell out of me I’m actually faster.

    • @HandlebarVentures
      @HandlebarVentures 2 місяці тому

      Don't get me wrong I'd love to have the 8. I just can't justify the cost vs improvement. I'm adding Flight Attendant suspension to my Evo 7 I think this will really compliment the more active suspension of the bike and make it that much faster.

If this bike can get up to the same speed as a class 1 emtb, I think I would just choose this bike because of how light it is. Currently, I have the trek fuel ex 7 2022 and it is super slow.

    • @HandlebarVentures
      @HandlebarVentures 2 місяці тому

The geometry has been changed, including a longer reach... did you take a smaller size or did you follow the advice of specialized? The reach of an M of the Epic 8 approximately corresponds to that of an L from the previous Epic Evo. The reach on medium Epic 8 (454 mm) is nearly the same as on large Epic 7 Evo (460 mm). I am 5’10 and between M and L. I have seen someone running longer stem on medium Epic 8 and he is slightly taller than me. Thanks

      Hell yeah I know the blue you're talking about that's such a great color! I'm torn between flight attendant and the twistloc. Really don't want to add more cables to the bike and give up my ergon grips. Don't want to add batteries to the bike either. Decisions...

      I'm in the same position as you, I have an Sworks Epic Evo 7, and the one massive improvement I would like to do is the Flight Attendant. Would we be able to fit the Flight Attendant rear shock on our frames, or will it only be the forks that are backwards compatible? Our frames have 110mm rear travel, whereas the new 8 has 120mm rear travel, so wasn't sure about compatibility. Any thoughts or ideas? Thank you in advance 👍🙏

      @@jonoharper4729 our frame (Epic Evo 7) is the only bike not currently in production that will have a SID Flight Attendant shock available. Probably because it was a test bed for Rockshox. My bike shop said his SRAM rep said it’ll be available for order sometime in April. I’m first in line! 🤞Good news too is we don’t have to buy the whole fork, just a replacement damper.

      @@samharris82 That's fantastic news, you're ahead of the game. Really appreciate the update. I'll get on to my LBS this week and pre order the parts. Thanks Sam, go well, enjoy your rides mate 🙏👊

      I also have the navy sworks epic evo 7 and love it. Will be adding flight attendant when it becomes available. Looks like I can get front shock and power meter but not the rear shock yet.

    Is this trail recommended for beginners?

      I'd recommend following the easy loop! It's well marked with green circles and arrows indicating which direction to go.

    i would just go for the 120/130 travel Epic 8 Evo if I was buying a new bike.

      I think the Evo version will appeal to a lot of people as a lightweight trail bike.
