Bro.............when you don't get a sound, the first place I start is from the amp. So sorry this happened. I really hope it's only a fuse. Keep us posted.
I feel for you, i used to own a 1978 100 watt Marshall head ,it was the toughest thing ever, without knowing it ,the cab that i was using was wired wrong it was wired 1ohm ,so you can imagine the strain i was putting on that head ,i ran it like that for at least a year ,till I rewired it to 8ohms.
You're right that re-sell value maybe halved by this. But maybe it's an opportunity to put some unorthodox trafo in and make it more one of its kind. I think you have two choices. Either you look for trafo that is as close to original (replica) or even just let the existing iron rewind or you try to put something that fits (electrically and physically) but doesn't belong there and give it an interesting spin. Or you can do both. Give original trafo to someone for rewind and try to put something different in. A lot of people would the wire and the way it's winded is half of the sound but I don't completely buy that. Given how excited people are about vintage amp and considering old manufacturing practices I think it's more than likely that every 50s and 60s amp had different wire in the trafo winded by different person using different winding pattern. I did not fry my trafo but an amp tech did similar mistake and almost killed my 1969 selmer t'n'b. Luckily it survived.
Hey Joey, i feel your pain... blew up my studio monitor headphones by plugging them into the back of my Marshall combo for some "quiet practice " I turned it into a positive by replacing and upgrading at the same time
Really sorry, unfortunately sometimes we have so much stuff to check that we forget the basic ones. It also could be only a fuse or a resistence but if the output transformer is gone I suggest to get a mercury one. You'll give that amp a glorius replacement.❤
I always disconnect the power cable if i ever disconnect the speaker cable. It saves inadvertently turning it on without a speaker or ext load connected.
ok, sorry it happened. i guess you'll you will double check load connection from now on. first thing i connect/check. another is the load box, does it give a load when off? i don't think they do. as far as transformer, i recon there's replacements that will be killer awesome.
Don't feel bad about not connecting the load box. We've all done it. I even did it when I didn't realise I had to connect either a speaker cab or a load box. I thought you could turn on your amp without anything plugged in. You learn quickly about these things.
Everyone blows an OT at least once brother. It’s like getting a flat tire. I had to replace the Drake in my 78 JMP. Put a Mercury in there and good as new, I can’t tell a difference.
İt seems a fuse problem if the lambs also off when you push the on off switch but if the lights go on when you switch on and there is no sound, bro it maybe output transformers were burned out ,so it’s a real trouble but don’t worry it can be recoil again sometimes you dont have to buy a new one.whatever get well soon😢
I did same stupid thing with my JCM800… Here in Italy near Pisa There is a tecnician Who repair These amps. I changed transformer and amp came back like before. Tube change also And some other components. About 400 euros some years ago.
If it is not the fuse (I hope it is the fuse), contact BRBS, Sebadtiano knows a great deal about Marshall transformers. And even if it is not vintage, there is some awesome transfo made these days.
The fuse is built to protect. Unscrew it and take a look. If unsure by looking wrap it qith aluminum foil. And see it if just turns on. But thats all do not use it like this. This only for trouble shooting.
No, for the sake of others reading this, adding foil would potentially drive a damaging level of current downstream which could create more extensive damage. The fuse amp rating is there for a reason - to protect the devices electronics. Replace ONLY with the rated fuse.
Shit happens. Such dir einen guten Tech.
This is why the Boss Katana head is better. It has a built-in speaker, so if you forget to hook a load up to it, it will just run on the internal speaker. Nice safety feature. In a amp that only costs $369. 😁
Grab a pack of fuses. Depending on the problem I another one might blow. To meet to power it on with a new fuse and watch the tubes. If it is the OT it's easy enough to fix. I could do it. Any amp tech could.

Yep. It's like forgetting to replace the bung before you launch your boat. If you haven't done that yet, you will at some point

It's ok. The fuses will need to be replaced. Easy enough for you to do yourself. I had to do the same with my DSL40.
I guess that i was too late, sorry but the flux capacitor in the Delorean was acting up. :-)

Check the fuse. Same happening to me on my vintage plexi marshall.

Fuse? Costs pennies.
Really hope its just the fuse buddy
Do you beleive in " evil eye " ? ))
Check the fuses... more than likely that's all it is

DO NOT WRAP FUSE WITH FOIL!! FUSES BLOW FOR A REASON.
@@bysykler4959 it would not hurt just as a troubleshooting process. Just long enough to see if you regain power.

Joey Joey Joey I'm crying
I feel like crying too
My guy, 99% chance you blew the mains fuse. Costs $.30 - $1.00 new, you can change it yourself.

yeah...
@joeyjooones That's such a great sounding amp. Hopefully it's just a fuse
