I’m an older man, very experienced hunter. In Canada Pigeon shooting is not widely practiced, often limited to pest control. I just retired and moved to a rural location with many dairy and other farms surrounding. With the intention’s of gaining permission to waterfowl hunt at these farms, I have started to actively pursue Pigeons.
Bouncing around the interwebworld, until I found this video. I gained more than enough information to get the work started. So obvious this man is expert, his advice adds the pigeon dimension to the things I’ve learned from years of water-fowling. From shot selection, shooting distance, decoy deployment and blind setup.
Now all I need is an auto-wiper motor and a few hours in the shop. Really excellent information and fun video.
The pigeons here in the Ottawa area have never seen a decoy, and are only now starting to avoid my truck..so it time to step things up. The local farmers and I thank you..these rock doves are a real pest, lots of equipment damage with droppings covering everything and populations fairly large and increasing.

Great film and lovely to see somebody actually explain the methods of pigeon shooting . Explaining the art of watching the flight line , taking notice of the wind direction , etc .hide building . Not just watching somebody shoot the birds all the time . Well done Paul and TGS .

Some quality content with reasoning for actions rather than just " Do this, do that." No need to even risk standing up though. I hardly ever stand to shoot. With the right decoy set up to get the bird where you want it and also a low hide front, it's just mount & shoot. The fine scrim hide material (like net curtain) is a big improvement over trad hide netting for the top edges ;-)
