EXCELLENT video!! And...your theory about not shooting large numbers is spot on. Furthermore, the experience is about making a good number of fine shots - not about piling up empty hulls!
Outstanding shooting Geoff, don't see much let down when switching to steel. I really get into the barrel cam, could not ask for a better teacher on holding lead.
Good theory on the big groups, and you are RIGHT in action as well. Works the same for ducks and geese. Can't be trigger happy if you want good shoots.
Will definitely be paying more attention to wad selection. I’m sure landowners will appreciate not having to deal with more plastic garbage in the fields. Also agree 100% on gentleman’s remarks about steel shot. A lot of the old timers lament the passing of lead, but once adjustments are made the steel can be capable of doing the job and so we just move on.
Did you change chokes when switching to steel? I've been told that steel vs. lead, you go one choke down with steel from what you use lead pattern wise. Example is modified for lead, I would need to go improved cylinder with steel to get same pattern I got with lead. Thanks, I hope that made sense and someone can answer.
That was a lot of shooting.... wonderful. Nice to show the occasional miss with the follow up shot. Real shooting rather than only the hits.... and all these lovely birds are going to the pot I presume. What's the favorite recipe?
I’m going to be using steel cartridges for the first time and I’ve been told to go up two shot sizes. I normally use 32g 6s for pigeons, so that would be 32g 4s in steel. Anybody know if this is correct?
good video, as always ! Can you tell me the name of the "shelf" geoff has, to put his phone and cartridges on, and where to find it please? (i live in france)
Garrod, as usual a great video! Question: I heard that you using in this video a 1/2 choke on your shot gun, is that what you mostly use for pigeon hunting? If I'm using steel shots, then I take one number bigger size of pellets as with lead - how you handle that? regards from Switzerland
Lol... "before lockdown.. honest govner" 🤭👍 Nowt wrong with genuine crop protection during lockdown... perfectly acceptable and entirely legal. Bloody good shot that lad.
Hi Peter, I have a question for yo u. I've been shooting clays for about a year and a half & I 'd quite like to have a go at the pigeons. I am a BASC member but I'm struggling to find a shoot locally (Surret\Sussex\Kent). Could you (or Geoff) give me any tips on how to find a shoot please? Also, where is the best place to dispose of the pigeons (supposing i manage to shoot more than i can eat)? I understand a game dealer or country butcher would buy them, but I don't know if many locally, so what's the bestest to.find interested parties? Indeed, is it usually to offer the farmer a share of any profit, or split the money?I Very basic questions i know, but I can't find an answer online, so.thought I'd ask. Thanks for another great show (I particularly enjoy watching Geoff on the pigies).Keeping me sane in the land of lockdown. Cheers Greg
Thank you Shooting Show, Geoff is making lockdown bearable for people who love to be outdoors!
The Shooting Show should make episodes just about Geoff's moustache. What a beauty!

Good to see a proper comparison between lead and steel , 👍👍
I felt like he was playing the duck hunt video game 🤔.. what an accuracy! He should be participating in the Olympics 🤘👏👏
