This might be silly, but my favorite thing about Gabriel's lifts are his single aggressive grunts. No drawn-out groan or shriek, all of it focused in a single expulsion. That shit is manly, haha.
Im turning 30 this year and im PISSED that i only came across this channel last year. You've done a truly incredible job of teaching, exposing and uplifting the yt fitness community (among other content creators). Im currently still teaching myself these lifts but its changed my training in so many ways and has made me passionate about something i wish i was exposed to years ago. Thanks man
Hey man, I’m 31 and I just found the channel, too. You’re not alone! Don’t focus on the past; crush the future. I’m ready to turn over a new leaf into my 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond. Here’s to hoping the content on this channel will be available for decades. Onwards an upwards!
You forgot Torokthy :( his snatchs are one of the best things I've ever seen. They seems so solid and technical that makes you want to see more and more.
Hey Zack just wanted to thank you for the vids. Have lifted weights for years have never oly lifted. Going to start learning the oly lifts. Your channel is a huge reason why. So amazing to see these weights get thrown around so fast. Never want to walk away from the barbell and this just opens up a whole other avenue. I appreciate it a ton!
Love your enthusiasm. This channel has gotten me into following Olympic weightlifting, particularly the likes of Kuo Using Chin, Lasha, Lu, and Illya. 🙌🏾
I would really love a video getting into more detail about the various ways to rotate and move the shoulders that explains mechanically what they do and the risks/rewards associated with them.
The 9:00 mark where you describe the catching position in the snatch is very helpful. For safety I'd always tried to maintain full external rotation in my shoulders, but it's very limiting on depth (especially for a 6'1'' lifter like me.) I'm glad to hear you can compromise some external rotation while maintaining enough stability to avoid injury.
For best CJ Ilya's 242kg is a no brainer, but I also really like Liao Hui's 193kg @wwc 2015, Om Yun Chol's 171kg @wwc 2015 and Shi zhiyong's 205kg in training. And oof I'm surprised no one voted Lu's 177kg @ the rio olympics, specially with the amount video material that was made of it! Maybe the Lu crowd moved on to different sports by now? Has to be my favorite snatch lift though.
How about a breakdown of what you think is the most perfect lift ever done? As a swimmer I find it crazy that elite weightlifting don’t have a ‘perfect’ technique - in swimming it’s very similar in most people, with only a few exceptiond
I guess because swimming doesn't have the changing variable of resistance like weightlifting does. But there are guidelines that must be adhered to for a successful lift, or at least one with any kind of weight anyway. The most perfect technique in weightlifting is usually displayed by the lightest women, as they don't have the muscle mass and strength reserve to do anything but try to be as razor edge efficient as possible. The lightest class women at Chinese nationals is always good to watch, they either make the lift perfectly and effortlessly, or miss with no chance.
Shi Zhiyong at ‘19 worlds, Lu at ‘19 worlds, Ilya in ‘15, Meso Hassona 228kg at dubai or qatar or whatever it was, technically solid but just insane grit to win on the last lift over Rostami
Ilya had some massive cleans, I think one with a squat jerk. Klokov. The Russian that did 264 kg way back, as well as Pisarenko and Alekseyev for history. Lu and Tian. Lasha of course. Clarence. Kuo, Lydia Valentin, Tatiana K, for the ladies.
Ilya Ilyin 246 from 2015. The way that fridge kinda runs into the barbell just to give himself a bit more time to accelerate it is beyond me. Like, he swings it away right from the floor and gets some horisontal displacement to make the lift because his legs are just... Fridge like.
please review the clean and jerk of klokovs father , thank you , keep it up , really like your passion for the sport and appreciate the effort you take for presenting your views as coach ; athlete ; individual on weightlifting
Just for context, I believe they said that Akkaev only ever did small weight cuts, so probably weighing less than 110 kg in the video. Also that was Chigishev first in the pan, after the lift.
Pleased to see Kendrick Farris in the pistachio commercial. I'm a powerlifter, but love weightlifting. Sadly, my 15 year old, twin boys, who can name every player on the roster of their favorite NBA team asked me who he was.
I'd like that you review one of Lidia Valentín's C&J. Little leg drive (to me) but awesome job getting under. I don't know how she does it. Also, some of Aramnau's. Thst guy is just... fenomenal.
The dying weightlifting thing really is a shame. I mean, I'm a weightlifter third (after other sports) but still, it's a shame. It's been dying in Germany, for a long time. We had years where barely anyone makes the (not sure how to properly translate this) A-grade national team numbers iirc. The club I started to compete for in 2009 was once the best in the country, hosted a powerlifting WC, too, and had several champions, in the 80s. They were also national weightlifting team champions a couple of times, I think. When I joined? Just children and the olde guard beyond the age of 60 left. I was there for the last time (bc I moved), 5 years ago. Met one of them kids at FIBO in 2019. Told me the club is no more. Shut down after a grand total of 40 years bc there was just no one left. Damn shame, that is. At least RAW powerlifting is absolutely exploding in numbers.
review the one and only Ilya Ilyin with his fenomenal 2014 wwc c&j performance :) for me his starting position it's just chaos lol. also russian guys like David Bedzhanyan, Apti Aukhadov... Iranian power belly Sohrab Moradi :D love u coach !
Gabriel is so fast that because of stuttering of screen we can't se him droping under, we just see him at max extension, and then under the bar in one frame :D
Rich video playing in the background making me reminiscent of better days

Hands on bar etc. etc.

Did not tighten up.
that was my first reaction when I saw this video

Tian Tao's 230 from Worlds 2019
It was 230, exept you mean World cup
gotta have lu's wr clean and jerk from 2019 world champs. And one of Clarence's >220kg lifts would be great
Obviously anything from Loredana Toma, that shuffle of the feat drives me insane man

Morgan McCullough's 190 American Record clean & jerk at 2019 AO3
Rich just hypnotized me the whole video long. Rest in peace huge guy...
Just imagine how much zack could lift if he hopped on sauzule like every single other guy in this compilation.

Rich Piana in the background 🤔?
YES! The Klokov pause snatch. I am not disappoint.
Need a full analysis on szymon kołecki's techqniue in the clean and jerk, he is underrated possibly the best technician in the jerk ever.
Love your enthusiasm. This channel has gotten me into following Olympic weightlifting, particularly the likes of Kuo Using Chin, Lasha, Lu, and Illya. 🙌🏾
Appreciate your "candor" in your videos, thanks!
Zack loves reviewing snatches
A real deep dive, getting to the bottom of things.
It's 90% of his onlyfans
Hahahaha the Klokov paused snatch is legendary.
Gleb Pisarevskiy's clean and jerks (especially the cleans) are a thing of beauty. Check out the video where he does 255 kg.

Tian Tao's recent 233kg C&J. Outstanding lift!
Can you review Simon Kolecski's C&J or Zlatan Vanev? They both are so entertaining to watch

hey Zach would love to hear you comment on Nijat Rahimov’s world record C+J from 2016 olympics! awesome stuff got me fired up!
Zlaten Vanev, Loredana Toma, Lidia Valentin, CJ Cummings, Apti Aukhadov. These are some unusual Styles that might be interesting 🧐
Ilya Ilyin's 246kg, 2015. I used to watch that lift 100 times before training.

How about Leonid Taranenko and his 266 clean and jerk?
I'm probably too late to the party. Cool video Zac!
Keydomar Vallenilla 204kg C&J, Shi Zhiyong 190kg C&J, anything Arley Mendez and Chen Lijun.
Taranenko's 266kg clean & jerk from 1988 - heaviest competition C&J ever and no belt!
I was waiting for a "birdybuilder at a globo gym doing lat pull downs with a valeo belt" review.
Ilya 2015 in Grozny would be great
Done
I had to return to this video, having just watched a video on Klokovs channel with Akkaevs coach. Akkaev was only 107 kg here, which is fucking insane
Gotta include something from Kuo or Lang. Best Techniques in the game in my opinion. Definitely my favorite to watch.

For sure Chigishev!! awsome lifter!!
you should do a review of Redon Manushi's Snatch, though that first pull would take about 20 minutes to film.
it will continnue, I'm sure. It was down much further and CrossFit helped to get peoples attention back to Weight Liftig.
Do you know the super slow puller known as "magic snatch" Redon Manushi? Would love to hear your technical analysis on his lift!

Evgeni Chigizev on the Akkaev video. Super heavyweight lifter.
for me Sohrab 's 189 snatch is one of the best in the modern era .
