There is no licence needed for preset frequency and short range uhf radios. If you want change the frequency of preset channels then only you will need approval from authorities and ham license.

As per the seller on amazon it's licence free.beacuse its under toy cataogaries and it can not be programmed,coded and change its frequency.but it's for personal use not for commercial use .if you used as commercial then definitely it requires licence.

Dear i m not misleading anybody it requires no licence because this works on frs and have power level less then approx 500 milli watt also it has no calling options and works only with the use of antenna due to its low power .even your broadband works on giga hz means as per your thinking broadband is also illegal.From these bands, in India, for wireless communication, without any license you can only transmit in these frequency ranges,
26.957 MHz to 27.383 MHz (Citizen Band)
335 MHz -500 MHz(for remote control of Cranes & other local activities)
865 MHz to 867 MHz
2.4 GHz to 2.4835 GHz (Wifi, Bluetooth)
5.825 GHz to 5.875 GHz (Wifi, Other forms of High Bandwidth Digital Transmissions like transmission of Drone Video Footages)
But as per the authorities drone transmission need a licence not from telecommunication but from avionics deptt.
This is just as beginners toy not a professional one. A ham radio which had power beyond the above frequency range ,power greater then 1 watt,has calling options,without antenna ,gmrs frequency needs a licence .
These toy is only works in open area due to its low power and if you are using it in closed and conjusted areas then it's range decreases .as per the seller it maximum range is 500m in open areas but in city it's under 100 m .
You know that if you carry a knife in your pocket is also illegal but it will depend upon your intentions whether it's for cutting vegetables or something else.every house has a knife which is illegal because as per government rules you can only buy 3 inch knife 😉 but if you are using it in home then it's legal but if you are walking with 3 inch or more then three Inch knife then definately it's illegal.
So if you using it in home then it's legal and if you walking with these walky talky in open places and sensitive areas then definately it can create a trouble for you.

Nahi dear it doest not require licence for personal use. It's power is less then 5 watt. And range is less. But if you buy in bulk and for your cooperate use then it's require a proper fcc licences.

Bellow are the allowed bands and watts to use in India to my knowledge.
Walkie-talkie bands:
866MHZ (UHF) upto 2watts.
446MHZ (UHF) upto 0.5watts.
CB Radio band:
27MHZ (HF) upto 4watts.
Above are license free bands from India.
So does Baofeng BF 888s uses any of the above bands?

There is a lot of confusion regarding this gadget.as per the sellers it's a toy not required any licence but many peoples in officials told us it's required a licence.so there is a lot of confusion.its just same as you are using a more then 3 inch knife in kitchen not required any licence but if you carry it outside then as per government rule you are required a proper licence .
So if you are using it in home personal use then it's ok but for outside or for commercial use you are required a proper licence.it will also depend upon the local authorities of your state .what they think about it.
