About a month ago I purchased a UV5R but it had a defective speaker, I returned it and got a UV82. I find it a better radio, feels better, better ergonomics. It programmed very easily - after a factory reset - with CHIRP. I put all the frequencies from the UV5R into the UV82 with absolutely no issues, also the FRS and GMRS frequencies, and it works great. @@Dymmma Baofeng 82 - frequency coverage in transmitting position is from 136MHz - 174MHz in vhf and in uhf it is from 400MHz- 520MHz. These frequencies are allocated by WPC, MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS for Amateur Radio Operators. And to operate on these frequencies which is in Baofeng 82 has need license by Ministry of Communication. Without license it is illegal and punishable.
