Channel 16 can be set and will scan all 16 (or whatever ones are set to scan) when set to ch16 and scan function is enabled...when scanning if it stops on an active channel and you transmit it will always transmit on the channel 16 freq. if it is programmed otherwise it will transmit on the highest channel number that is set. Str8Klownin1 FRS/GMRS channels can be programmed into them, you can Google a list. No they're not legal but if you're not being a nuisance no one will ever check.
The Baofeng UV9r plus is my cheapy of choice 2-way though far more features. Have a couple of UV5r's but find the 9's even better built. How do they do these for the price? I have the 888's for holiday family use, cheap enough not to care if you drop one and the kids love them.
Fantastic video mate thank you very much for taking the time to do it these look like the Retevis H-777 Walkie Talkie. Do you know if there is any difference
+Music Matt 76 Yes some do have this feature its random between sellers, you can use the Baofeng software to enable it as well, I dont use voice inversion its fun to play with it though.
I am in the United States and am a representative of a volunteer organization. We use these radios on business frequencies with a license. Besides being a bit quiet, they do their job fairly well.
I have a pair of these that I want to use as walkie-talkies when I go camping etc. I keep hearing the frequencies have to be changed, but what to? If PMR frequencies are a no-no because the radios are too powerful, which frequencies CAN we legally use in the UK? We only need them to keep in contact with eachother. Any advice would be good :)
+Walter Ego well its a tricky one to answer, legally you shouldnt be using them unless you are a licensed radio ham and even then not on PMR, however if you are going to use them and you are not a HAM it is essential that you program them on to the 8 PMR frequencies that way you wont cause interference, you still wont be legal but at least you wont be potentially causing havoc.
knoxieman Thanks for that - I certainly don't want to interfere with important communications somewhere. I wouldn't be using them often or for long conversations so PMR sounds the best way to go. Now we shall never talk of this again....... ;-)

I have a JUCJET walkie talkie and it looks exactly like yours. 3.7V. I have just got it but I don't know if it needs to be programmed, ie Chirp, etc and I don't really understand how to programme it at all,j legally if it needs to be programmed.I have a PMR466 3.7V. I presume that is legal? What is a PMR frequency? If I have a 3.7V device, why I would I need to check it, as surely it should be 3.7V as the booklet says.
Yes you need a cable and chirp to program unless it's on PMR you can check this against other PMR radios just transmit and see if the PMR radio shows the signal
I've bought 14 of these to use in a school to keep all classes in contact with office, impressed with quality.

Splits is where you transmit on a different frequency than you receive on, split frequency.
@@knoxieman Is it's sole purpose so that a conversation cannot be followed by a random listener?
Dear sir, 1) can you let me know is this legal in india, ? Can i use in india ? With factory default frequencies or setting? 2) if 3rd person or other people connect to this radio how can change this setting, only 2 frends can talk with each other other will be restricted. Is there any setting available via softwar? Pls describe. Thanks
Yes legal to use in India, you must however program the radio to frequencies that are legal for you to use in your country, thanks for watching.
this version baofeng 888s is based on channel.. you have to do setting on the computer to set frequencies for 16 channels.. you better get baofeng uv 82 instead.. you can search for frequencies immediately on the spot without setting on the computer..
@@RezaOLine beofeng uv82 gets license required in india ??? If i m not wrong 24mhz is allowed freely use in india like CB radio.. how can i program beofeng 888 default frequencies to india freey freqy?? Where can i get the list of frequencies to use in india freely???
@@znzzmz1 i dont know about india,, because im not an indian..
you can set the channel by using computer,, there will be a cd driver one package with the radio.. you need to know about your frequencies of your partner and yourself so you can comunicate.. and dont forget about important frequencies like police officer,, fire fighter,, or your workplace.. but you cant do scanning frequencies with this 888s baofeng.. you have to gather frequencies by yourself so you can set it up on your computer..
remember,, do not disturb other people work with your radio,, especially from the government officials.. to avoid trouble from the government..
@@RezaOLine you mean to say i would set freq like police officer or fire? Or avoid these freq ? If i will set the free or open freq on 888s with that is usable in india both 888s radio, after that these radio does not match with others freq like govt official???
Nice little radios. Inexpensive too.
What is the name of the song at the end? Great, informative video. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, the music is generated by the video editor program so doesn't really have a name as such
nice tune at the end
LOL at the UA-cam closed-captions at 12:26! Good chuckle, and nice vid.
sorry but by any chance do you have the link to the video of how to program the radios? Thank you in advance.
+Arturo Ortiz If you search for programming chirp in youtube you should find videos that will help.
What is the difference between low and high power output (how many wats) Please tell me should i buy programing cable because i've got only ham licencse
there is no difference between low and high, get a programming cable it's a must!
knoxieman Okey, thanks ;)
+knoxieman where do you get the cable? The ones on Ebay don't seem to include it.
+knoxieman Sorry I should have done a bit of searching before I asked! Found them on Ebay, but why don't they sell the things together? Having to buy the radio off one person and the cable and disc off another seems ridiculous.
Yes it's stupid really, you need a cable to make sure the radio is programmed properly, some sellers do sell together.
Very good review my friend I have a question are the BF888s compatible to connect to a repeater network
How to program this radio
I just want like two of these unit and they should just work. I don’t know how to program, these....
I bought one of these and one BaoFeng UV-5R Plus to use at work to communicate :) Best regards
How you are tested , automatic voice sending! 10:45 what is this program? For PC?
thanks for the information about the baofeng bf888s I like your video so much
I ordered 2 of these for camping I live in the United States, I am not a ham operator can I still use these radios? What other than the cable and software do I need to do to use and program them? What frequencies can I use here in the states? Thanks
Str8Klownin1
FRS/GMRS channels can be programmed into them, you can Google a list. No they're not legal but if you're not being a nuisance no one will ever check.
Good review.
Do you know what is the difference is between this 888S vs 888?
that one of them has an s and not the other
The Baofeng UV9r plus is my cheapy of choice 2-way though far more features. Have a couple of UV5r's but find the 9's even better built. How do they do these for the price?
I have the 888's for holiday family use, cheap enough not to care if you drop one and the kids love them.
Me and car group want to use these for highway drives and what not
There's about 10 of use is this what we need just these or gotta add something?
+✱AT Productions✱ go ahead buy them on ebay 10£ each
What happens if you do not change the frequency? (In the uk)
you will very likely be transmitting out of band, which is illegal and you may cause interference to essential services.
oh ok do i need some kind of cable to change the frequency (as you can probably tell i am new to radios)
It's an offence so you run the risk of prosecution
@@Spookieham i doubt that. No ones listening while hes transmitting.
Can you use them to talk to someone with the same radio like a walkies talkie? Without programming them in the US?
Fantastic video mate thank you very much for taking the time to do it
these look like the Retevis H-777 Walkie Talkie. Do you know if there is any difference
Thanks v much I don't know if they have been cloned but its very likely!
7 miles is Phenomenal but what was the antenna and radio used on the receiver end?
SDR and roof mounted co linear, I can get 7 miles line of sight radio to radio.
Excellent video, thank you...
Thanks for the review
Today I received 888s with RED sticker on the back and it have scrambler! But only with Miklor program for 888s.

+Music Matt 76 Yes some do have this feature its random between sellers, you can use the Baofeng software to enable it as well, I dont use voice inversion its fun to play with it though.
i bought 2 BF-888S but its GMRS frequance and Turkey doesnt accept this frequances. how can i change the frequances to PMR ?
By programming it.
I am in the United States and am a representative of a volunteer organization. We use these radios on business frequencies with a license. Besides being a bit quiet, they do their job fairly well.
I doubt they are type accepted for biz band use.
@@captlarry-3525 they are part 90 certified. Check the FCC database. Also this comment is 5 years old lmao… we’ve since started using Motorolas.
What program you use for hear and receive the signal in your pc?
Now we shall never talk of this again....... ;-)
my friend and i have the same radio. but we tested it. we cannot receive each other. can you please help me? we are 3.2km away from each other. his house to mine
Gjul Allibuc maybe too far for your antennas. trees and buildings can cut transmissions
These neat little radios are great for simplex, but they don't seem to like using repeater offsets.
I've not used the 888 on repeaters much although I've used plenty of other super cheap radios that have been ok 🤔
I lost two seconds when the other talks to me or to other identical 888s. Is it normal?
Yes I've seen that before but it's not usual, I currently don't have 888 radios in to check for you.
The box in the very beginning of the video says VHF/UHF. Are these dual-band?
No
What kind of cheap radios or walkie talkies can I buy to talk to someone 15km away?
How did u program for different channels
Using software called chirp and a programming cable
I have installed my software but my devices show unspecified when I plug my radio in and when I open the software to read from the radio it doesn't show the 'com port' where as in the unspecified device it shows as com 6... what am I doing wrong? is it cause I am using windows 10? if so what software could I use that is compatible? (hope you can help!!!) thanks.
That was a great review! Thank you so much!
are these suit for trekking or hiking?
Would these be okay for kids to use? Ages 7-16. Looking for cheap but good quality Walkie talkies for my brothers for Christmas.
Ok then. Thank you for your help.
Hi. Thanks for the great video. Do you know if the channel frequencies are reset to the factory settings if the battery runs out of power. Thanks
Good review but whats wrong with the plug and twin cable. Its double insulated as most chargers are --- isnt it ?
no it's not double insulated, have to be bit careful there.
Knoxieman, what test software are you using on this video for those BF 888s radio's? Name of software please.
+Lena Marie Peters hello there, its SDR software and its called sdrsharp
+knoxieman .... thanks for the heads up.... will look into it
I did bought 4 for my kid to play for fun and we can use at the mall when we go shopping
