I remember my middle section was so flat before menopause, My neighbor told me she wish her middle section was like mine, now as I am in menopause it's not flat anyone 😢
😢
Great tips! I wanted to add, walk briskly for 20min after every meal, this has been a game changer for me.
I was overweight and very close to obese my entire peri and menopause years. I now am in a normal weight range and have a flat stomach again. I have lost muscle mass but never really had a muscular tone to my body. Even as a shapely 20 year old I was soft😂. I attribute my success with losing the unwanted lbs. to changing jobs from working from home to a physically demanding job in manufacturing. I walk a lot. No crazy restrictive dieting for me either but I do eat once a day most days. Im focusing on lifting lite weights and strengthening exercise to see if I can regain some muscle which for me is harder than losing weight. This menopause thing is not one size fits all but we need to find what works for us personally and stick to it
I lost 35 pounds in 3 years by cutting out ALL alcohol, processed meats, all dairy. Am now post menopausal and haven’t gained an ounce. I think it might be easier to avoid gaining the weight if you work on it before you begin that final transition to post menopause. Just my two cents.
Absolutely! That's worked for me and I'm in my 60s. I just kept doing my regular fitness and sports activities and didn't slow down. My family doctor told me I"m now even healthier than I was before I hit menopause! That shows what 30+ years of consistent activity and good diet can do - it can make you healthier than when you were young!
I am also in pre-menopause, these symptoms have made my life miserable, every day I wake up with fear when there is no more energy left in my body to do anything. what, I have been fighting with it for 4 months now, every day I am exhausted and very very tired, I am very scared and worried, I have no energy to go to work or anywhere, I feel I felt very weak and depressed, I cried a lot and didn't know that I was having symptoms of premenopause coming back to me. So cruel, I finally had to go to a gynecologist to get help. help, I cried a lot to her and begged her to help me, after being tested for Blood and urine as well as taking pictures and finally I chose to have HRT treatment even though I knew those things there will be side effects later but I can't live every day with a weak body, I have been on HRT treatment for 2 weeks but I still haven't seen any change, I hope HRT will give me strength again. Life is normal like before 😢😢😢😢😢😪😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😪😪😪😪
These are great tips Kari. For me I'm still in perimenopause but I have managed so far to be in better shape than I was in my 20s. Whats worked for me is weight training since my late 20s, cardio, yoga and meditation, clean eating, no processed food, no red meat or cured meats or white foods like rice, pasta etc, eating protein and good fats as a priority and my vitamins and supplements incl collagen. No alcoholic beverages, heaps of water and definitely intermittent fasting I stop eating at 5.30pm and eat again around 9am. I was having gut health issues and I started a good women's probiotic as well as first thing in the morning hot water with a little lemon juice and my digestive system is working so well now. I often am tired due to low iron but I still exercise no excuses and I feel so much better for it in mind and body.
Thanks for sharing! It sounds like you’re making health in midlife a priority.
Some red meat would help with the low iron. Also, cooking in an iron skillet.
@@KS-es5sn thank you 😊. I really don't enjoy the taste of red meat. I will try the iron skillet though. My doctor is going to try me on regular iron infusions which will help
You posted some great tips here. I am a big fan of daily morning warm lemon water.
I’ve done many of these things as well and have - so far - been able to keep weight gain at bay. Hot flashes and insomnia are my main demons. 🤬😂
We have so much more information now. My mom knew little to nothing regarding what was happening to her body during menopause.
My mum said exactly the same thing to me. She really suffered, even with HRT. She said they were all told 'Just take HRT' and she was also given anti-depressants.
I think how depressed this is making me, so I can't imagine what my mother went through without knowing what we know now. It makes me sad to think about how she suffered. She passed away 8 years ago and I long for her advice during this time.
I've been keto then later low carb for a total of 6 years. Started having symptoms last year and took hrt at 47. I started keto again which helped me from getting a full night sleep again without sleep supplements or hrt. I took 0.5mg estradiol and progesterone cyclically (both body identical) for symptoms. I notice since going keto again, I have no symptoms of menopause and haven't taken the estradiol lately. I do zone 2 on my stationary bike for at least an hour several times a week, weight training, and HIIT.
Great video 🎉 Excellent information 😊❤
Thank you for your video! I will try all the tips. 😊
Thank you so much for this step by step video on what's going on and what to do about it! So many of us women need this video! I watch your videos with my husband as well so that he also knows what's going on with me. I super appreciate the time you take to make all these videos!😊
Great video. Stress reduction is so key in menopause; it's our number one enemy. Following a whole foods diet helps a lot as does moving every day. I think we all get surprised by the weight gain as menopause sneaks up on us and suddenly we can't workout or eat like we used to. But with lifestyle changes you can get your old self back, it may take a little time but it's possible.
Thank you so much for this... so very helpful...
Kari Anne, as always the best practical, simple advice🤗👍. I am so glad you mentioned sleep. Lack of sleep does lead to weight gain.
Thank you Kari, I am going to try the collagen and see what it does for me :)
GREATEST INFORMATION 👍🏽
Great video!
Ur great thank u.
Hello Keri Anne, love learning from you. I put ankle weights on every day. 💕NonnaGrace 🐓
It's beyond frustrating to have this belly fat. I eat healthier but less than before my menopause and try really hard to loose that midwaist tire. It's also frustrating and expensive when you can't wear your clothes anymore and have to buy larger shirts.
Yes it is frustrating. I’ve lost weight and exercise and I’m still fighting the belly.
I’ve been struggling for ages with my wait. I’m off to get collagen, and concentrate on my sleep. Thank you for all your good advice! 😊
I’ve lost 8lbs in about 6weeks in my gut noticeably following Keri’s suggestions. Taking collagen, omegas, magnesium, multi and C.
Hi Kari,
Thanks for the tips, they are really helpful.
I’d love to see a “what I eat in a day “ vlog, if you haven’t done one already?
My last update video mentions what I eat but I don’t have a dedicated video for it. My diet is pretty underwhelming.
Great post as always Kari and I also have an underactive thyroid so double whammy with perimenopause as well but am determined this isn't my lot and had to laugh at a post I saw by a doctor who said the average woman gains around 5lbs of weight in menopause so I can only assume I am taking one for the team of all the ladies of a similar age I know then lol love and hugs from the UK Xx
That doctor might want to times that number by 4 or 5 at least.😏
You're so funny you just kill me when when I watch😊
I'm in peri. And have put on alot.
Weight...Oh weight. I'm in menopause now but gained a lot of weight in pre-menopause and was in the obese range for my height and weight. Last year I joined WW and have lost 22 pounds went from a size 14 to a size 6. However, now I am stuck with the loss and I have this ugly roll around my tummy. I started WW to lower my A1C which it did with the loss. Now that I am stuck at my current weight my A1C is going back up again (plus it's genetic). I have not tried probiotics or collagen yet but after this video going to order some now. I don't have anyone to talk to in my family or even friend circle about Menopause so when I found Kari's video's the first thing I said was, "thank god this is normal". She has been a blessing for all these changes occouring in my body. I thought I was loosing my mind until I found her. Thank you Kari for doing these video's you are a blessing!!!!
I’ll leave you the affiliate link for the weight loss collagen I take in case you’re interested. It’s called Trim. I took my blood sugar down too and I’m currently trying to get the last bit of weight off. The last 10 or 15 pounds are the hardest. Https://modere.com/3485745
Hi Kari, would love to hear your weights/excercise routine
I really like Tracy Anderson but she doesn’t have much on UA-cam. You need to subscribe to her routines so I started doing lift with Cee on UA-cam. So far I like her.
Thank you, Kari, for the great tips
You mentioned once you aren't doing HRT. Do you intentionally consume estrogen mimicking foods, such as yams, flaxseed, tofu, edamame, soy milk? What are your thoughts & experience with this? I would love to know.🇨🇦♥️
I gained 20+ pounds in 2019/2020 and it has taken me five years to almost get back to the weight I was before starting perimenopause.
For my diet, I eat a whole-food, plant-based diet.
For my exercise routine, I take adult ballet classes five days a week and then focus on strength training, as well.
All of those factors combined have helped significantly. I am still working on getting the last bit of weight off around my hips and thighs, but ballet is helping to tone those areas.
Ballet how wonderful!
Just cutting back on the sugar helps.
Yeah I have noticed the insatiable hunger at times… it’s awful!
😢
I have a question about exercise. If we should stay away from workouts that are too intense, how do we balance that with needing to add strength? Would walking and doing dance, pilates, barre and/or yoga work? I mean those are things I really enjoy and I am not a big fan of lifting weights. And thank you so much for your channel!! I am so grateful to have found you! My mom did not have access to any of this information when she went through menopause and I really wish she had. You are an amazing person!! Thank you, a million times, thank you!!
Those are all great! Weights don’t have to be super heavy. The heaviest weight I use is 10 pounds. I do lift with Cee on UA-cam. Not stressful at all and builds strength.
You only have to do strength workouts x2 per week. Heaps of great channels like fitness with PJ that cater to older women that are fun. 20mins twice per week is doable?! But yes, all those other exercises are great! I’ve recently got into reformer Pilates and am having great fun with that 😊
Yesssssssss
What is the name of your collegians meds?
I even seen some comes in favors I have been looking around but not sure about the brands. I’m going to order some from Amazon this wk coming
My collagen comes from a clean living company. It’s not sold on Amazon. The weight loss collagen is called Trim and the anti aging collagen is called Biocell. I take both. I will leave the affiliate link if you want to check them out. There is a discount attached of course.😊 Https://modere.com/3485745
Which collagen are you using? My muscles and hair are terrible 🥺🥺🥺
I use 2 collagens. A weight loss collagen(Trim) and an anti aging collagen(Biocell). I’ll leave the affiliate link(with a discount attached) in case you want to check them out. Https://modere.com/3485745
I'm losing it but it's really hard to do without starving. It sucks.
🥺
I started jumping rope every day and clothes are not so tight.lol
👍
How to regain weights because im in peri menopause atage ang im lossing weights because of my digestive issues symptoms
🥺
I feel like a big fat bloated swollen puffy pig. 😢
😢😔
Hai madam. Y evening times mind is very dull .r if no sunrise that time also very dull mood .pls answer me
I’m not sure what you mean by a dull mind but hormonal shifts do affect mood and brain function.
Please, are there any other options to weight training? Due to other health issues, I can't do that.
I thought of brisk walking, but got disheartened since people say the only thing that works is weight lifting😔
You can build muscle with any resistance even your own body. When you put extra force on your muscles they recover and build up. Just use your muscles and walking is one of the best forms of exercise. Getting your steps in and maybe some sunshine and fresh air if you walk outside is fantastic for your health.
Thank you for helping me and being so kind to us!!!! Love to Pumba! @@KariAnneWright
I have a question and just opinions are great!
I'm 51 and skipped my last 3periods. Today feb 3 2024 I have very light purple and light bleeding. Does this mean I'm in perimenopause or menopause?
I thought for sure the last 3 months I was in menopause.
I see my OB in June but thought I'd ask for opinions. ❤
Perimenopause. You won’t reach menopause until you go 365 days period free.
I was thinking the same but I have not seen mines since end of May last yr. But guess what? Last month she reappeared 😢
@@KariAnneWright Thank you! It was like spotting. Ever since earlier today theres nothing
Ohhh the Joy's! Thanks again ❤
@@beanetricemcdaniel6853 thank you! We are sooo lucky! NOT 😂
@@russellmania4542 😉 I’m so done with mines. I refuse to give her and invite 😂😂😂
It's been 3 days and it still feels like someone punched me in my arm. Fun times
😢
Hello 👋
I wondering when does it get harder?
Is it before you go into the 3 phases. My area is my stomach. I’m sure it’s during but which I’m not sure. And what about after. I do have another question. What and how did you or your viewers deal with dizziness? It just started this Wednesday past and it has me so weak, with no appetite and tired. Help me please you or your viewers. Oh! And I don’t have to wonder about my butt anymore. Because it’s all in the front. 😂😂
So many things can lead to dizziness. Anxiety, inner ear issues, deficiencies, allergies, blood sugar imbalances, hormone imbalances, dehydration, low blood pressure…. Address one thing at a time and see the doctor with any concerns.
Thanx for helping women who r suffering without help 🙏🏼
Thank you, Kari, for the great tips
You mentioned once you aren't doing HRT. Do you intentionally consume estrogen mimicking foods, such as yams, flaxseed, tofu, edamame, soy milk? What are your thoughts & experience with this? I would love to know.🇨🇦♥️
No I can’t use hrt and yes I do eat as many anti inflammatory and phytoestrogen foods as possible. It helps naturally balance my hormones.
@@KariAnneWright thank you!🇨🇦♥️
