Willie D, I listen to you often. Very like minded. When I saw you were going to interview a funeral director, I was astounded. Being a licensed funeral director, embalmer, funeral home owner first generation for 26 years and I'm 45 years old. This was a good acknowledgement to those of us in a thankless industry.
You get paid so that's thanks enough.
This has been very helpful, my Mother had everything planned. Made me write all her siblings names and spouses. She wanted to be cremated and I had to be respectful to her siblings and say this is what she wanted and I am going to do it. She wanted blues music and 60/70 R&B music playing before and after service and had food at funeral home.

This episode of a Willie D live with Kineta Lewis-Harrison was very informative and enlightening. I respect her for the services that is provided to her community. As a single mother of an adult child who’s on the autism spectrum, I must engage in this discussion. I must prepare for me and my son’s day of demise. It is inevitable that I will leave this earth either before or after my son, unless the Most High takes us together, and either way it plays out I need to make arrangements for us both.
It is a subject that many shun away from, but it’s a subject that must be dealt with. While watching the program I got ideas of how I would like to be buried. I like the idea of not leave my funeral as a burden for some else to handle. I trust that when my/our time comes that I will have planned the funeral that I would have like to have had for me and my son. I currently live in GA and I hope to find a compassionate and caring person like Kineta. May The Most High continue to bless her and her family. 🙏🏽💜🌷

That's how they are or they are trained to be like that.
Why dont we talk about the steps needed to PRESERVE LIFE instead of planning for funerals i mean true we need to realize the reality of death BUT they call it a funeral BUSINESS. And think for a second how much money was made by funeral directors during covid instead of telling people simple cheap ways to make their immune systems stronger?? I know a funeral director in the Bronx that is a multi multi millionaire and he was almost broke before covid..and i asked him why he didn't try to save some of those people and he looked at me straight in my face and said, ' i have kids who's going to college and this covid thing was the best thing that happened to me and my family, and im like wow did he just say that. But that's exactly what he said
Because everybody already knows what you need to do to preserve life. But death is inevitable you're not going to escape it and no one else is.
Right, why are black people always going to funerals from violence and sickness that could have been done something about, and it's always the black race that are the high risk in most of every disease? God said he gives us long life abundant life why doint we want it instead of always at a funeral that's very expensive overcharged and yes some may care but we also know it's about that money why caint we live before we die by the grace of God live to a ripe old age and our family can say she or he lived a long good life blessed by God why do we spend our money only on burying the dead at a young age life is more than funerals and I pray for my people to live long life and leave their inheritance to there love ones to carry the love on until we all meet again with the Lord.

I been asking the question about cemeteries for years. I too am in my 50s and say millions of people and a few cemeteries. Are most people being cremated?
Very informative & educational~ Sad to say, in San Francisco, California, there is not one, not 1 Black owned Mortuary in San Francisco! All because of money & greed!! I worked briefly at a mortuary; one joke was "people are dying to get in here." 😏

A lot of funeral workers don't want to be embalmed because of the damage they do to bodies in order to look good.

This is what that kind of profession makes you into...look at the difference...willie is stuck on the material coz she was talking about the inner things ..character,morals and investing more on that and willie could only think about money when she said dying empty...

This was a very enlightening interview. I could listen to Mrs. Harris for hours. She has definitely encouraged me to get my affairs in order.
I started writing my obituary while I was watching this. My grandmother passed in 2019 and the whole family was sitting together and no one wanted to write her obituary. I grabbed a pen and paper and started writing what I knew then my sister came in and finished with me. I’m going to tell my own story.
I definitely understand, but what we must realize that in general, people will buy what they want and beg for what they (coverage) need.

I wouldn’t say warm ! I’m feeling it’s just a business for her because she grew up around the work. Its odd that a six year old would play with her dolls as corpse instead of enjoying life as we normal people would do. Something else is bothering her soul I just can’t pinpoint it. Have she ever helped the homeless,the children that’s hungry and need a decent family? That’s something to think about.
