Full History of the FIRST Wizarding War (Voldemort's FIRST Rise to Power) - Harry Potter Documentary

- The First major Wizarding War in the Harry Potter universe was a catastrophic period in wizarding history that lasted a whopping 11 years. The war started when Voldemort, obsessed with pure-blood supremacy, sought to overthrow the existing magical order and establish himself as the ruler of both the wizarding and non-magical worlds.
The war officially ended on October 31, 1981, when Voldemort's curse to kill the infant Harry Potter rebounded upon him, destroying his physical form and rendering him powerless.
And the aftermath of this decade long conflict left deep scars on the wizarding world. Families were torn apart, and many prominent witches and wizards lost their lives. The wizarding world was in shambles.
But as far as the 7 books are concerned, the primary focus is on the SECOND Wizarding War, a conflict that only lasted 3 years.

This is why I don’t understand why WB and JK Rowling chose to focus on Dumbledore and Grindelwald instead of the prequel of the first wizarding war that Voldermont began.
LGBT rules. Name "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" but not about magic creature.
Because she didn't want to pay too much attention to Voldemort. She didn't want Voldemort to become a beloved villain.
Personally I don’t believe it would be violent enough. Voldemort’s rise should be Rated R.
@@andrzejzborowski4920 I think he would become beloved in the same sense that Joffrey is from Game of Thrones. Everybody absolutely despises him, but we love the actor.
Yeah Rowling is so sensitive to queer people 😅@jerrychen4348
The first wizarding war truly sounds horrific and terrifying 😢
Just wow.
It was. I was there fighting in it
It does as terrible as it would be I would try to return to the muggle world and maybe just practice house hold cleaning spells at home.
Its crazy the 1st war lasted 11 years and the 2nd 2 years, man id give for a analog horror story about voldemort past
I feel like the first war went into a different “war” after Tom heard the prophecy.
Then he had a clear enemy/ target rather than just giving Dumbledore the finger as he killed and gained power
So, im actually pretty sure that the ring was the first horcrux and the diary was second. Tom was already wearing the ring when he asked slughorn if it was possible to split the soul more than once which suggests that he had already created one horcrux and was wanting to make more. The supercarlinbrothers did a fantastic video on this topic. The ring was first, the diary was second.
The DARK spell that would have killed Dumbley without Snapes intervention though? Is he powerful enough at this time to place a curse like that on the ring?
The ring is the first one yes. Watch supercarlain brother video on it
Yes because Voldemort killed the riddle family first.
@@choke9270I feel like he would have that kind of power if he was in a position of being capable of creating horcruxes already
You are correct. Otherwise he would've never found the chamber
It's worth mentioning that the Death Eaters were just Voldemort's inner circle. He commanded an army of witches and wizards he bewitched to work for him and when his magic was destroyed they "felt ouf of trance" (Hagrid's phrase).
That thay dont make a voldemort orgin series insted of the reboot Is sad :(
So mutch thay could include. And go into. Thay also could have made some episodes showing marauders side 😣😣😣😣
I would prefer movie prequels of this event instead after concluding the movie adaptations of the books
Another great video! Thank you!
Fun fact the diary is actually not the first horcrux that Vodemort created. It's actually the ring that he created first. After that, it was the diary as Morphious told Voldemort about the location of the Chamber of Secrets as its known the Ghonts knew the location of it.
Saying Voldemort disappeared from 61-71 reminds me of in Sandlot when they said one of the kids just “Got lost in the 60s”😂😂
Thanks for the video! 😄
Amazing video as always xx
Ravenclaw house here!
🦅
🦅
Slytherin here :D
Trailer.
Don't know how I got here.
I'm not even an ally.
I feel like he would do both. Harry first then Neville
wow, thanks for another great video!
I would have preferred a movie that focused on this then a Dumbledore vs grindelwald movie.
10:08 the curly haired one. I can’t tell because if the mask is that Beatrix?
Great vid
I don’t remember Snape being Voldemort’s most trusted DE during the first war. Bellatrix clearly was one because he entrusted her one of his horcruxes, taught her, and (most likely) told her about the prophecy and horcruxes. I assume that because she specifically went after the Longbottoms after his defeat and was absolutely calm at her trial & confident of Voldemort’s return.
Very Well Done Thank You
❤ Awesome as always thanks
Voldemort's horcruxes make him unable to die if killed. What of old age? Does he age while his horcruxes are active? Would he have to rebuild his body and make a new horcrux every century or so? I've never heard an answer to natural death regarding horcruxes.
I'm thinking that the Magic would die with him, and said relic would become cursed, rather than remain an outlet for his soul to transcend death.
But that is a damn good question.
His soul was so mangled he is STILL in limbo to this day and forever will be. So technically they keep his soul from ever crossing over
I would love to see this whole thing in a series. 💚 it would be amazing!! 💯
Painful how the history of The First Wizarding War reminds me of the current situation in certain countries under dictatorships...
Great video please do a video on the second wizarding war
There's 3 whole movies about that lol
I wish JK would write again, specifically the years following The Deathy Hallows, as well as the events during the time the Marauders were in school... even if she put it behind a paywall on her own site, and maybe find a handfull of publishers who wont cater to mainstream media pressure.. i think it would be well received and i think alot of the fans would want those 2 time periods expanded upon.... im very bummed about The Cursed Child, and Fantastic Beasts seems to be clawing to stay afloat.
I don't know which story is more sad, if Lily and James dead or the Longbottoms being alive but unable to recognize their loved ones. ☹️
I'm curious why did Dumbledore believe in Trivani prophecy about Harry if she was rarely correct?
Because it was literally the only hope he had left for stopping Voldemort. Think about it; Voldemort's forces were absolutely winning the war at that point, no one could stop him, and everyone who tried either died or was forced to serve him against their will. The Ministry of Magic was in complete and utter disarray, even muggles were beginning to die as a result of Voldemort's campaign. Dumbledore was desperate to stop Voldemort by any means necessary, and he didn't have the luxury of being picky in regards to who was offering him that means.
@@GamerX51Which also makes me wonder why Voldemort would even believe her prophecy? He was arrogant and i'm sure he didn't believe she had any ability to forsee the future. Why would he take any caution at all at that point?
@@Rykiz_Vidz Because Voldemort was incredibly paranoid; allowing any possibility of his own defeat to go unanswered was something that he was simply never going to do. He wasn't willing to take any chances at all when it came to his overall goals. Hence, his massive overreaction to the news of Harry's birth. Honestly, Voldemort wasn't defeated by Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix during the first Wizarding War, he was defeated by his own Paranoia.
If he had simply ignored Snape and continued his campaign, he would have easily won the war; even Dumbledore couldn't have stopped him. (despite the books' frantic insistence to the contrary.) If Voldemort doesn't kill Lily Potter, Snape never turns on him; he remains a loyal death eater to the end of his days. Also, Peter Pettigrew's cover is never blown, so Voldemort could have used him to spy on the Order of the Phoenix from the inside, giving him an overwhelming tactical advantage in the war.
Dumbledore knew when Trelawney was in a legitimate seer state.
She would go into trances that were difficult to bring her out of (if I remember correctly).
Also, her predictions during her trance state tended to be less generic, but it's been awhile since I read the series.
Point being, she would go into trance like fits, and that's how Dumbledore knew she was tapping into her gift.
If none of them believe her prophecy, how can the story continue? With story go on, voldemort and death eater getting less intelligent, that way, Rowling can finish the story in 7 books.
I feel the TV show Max is putting out should be able the 1st wizarding war instead of a retelling of the books.
I was always curious on why Voldermort did not free Grindlewald and offer him a seat as a death eater.
Their goals were different and Grindlewald could have been a threat to Voldemort's own power. While Voldemort _pretended_ to be about pure blood supremacy, he was really mostly interested in furthering his own power and immortality. Pure blood supremacy was simply an ideal he agreed with that he was able to use to further his own goals.
Grindlewald truly did believe in Wizard superiority over Muggles; he was *far* less extreme than Voldemort. While Voldemort saw value in only the lives of "pure bloods" (himself being the exception because he'd "purified" his own blood when he murdered his father and like most racists, he's a hypocrite). Grindelwald saw both wizards and muggles as worthy of life and likely didn't care if a wizard's parents were muggle, wizard, or mix. He saw muggles not as undeserving of life, but of deserving of the "benefit" wizard rule, thinking that all lives would be better if wizards were in charge.
@@AustynSN Ah I see and have read that before. Still makes me wonder why he never went to him to learn from him, even if it ment he was only using Grindlewald to further his knowledge of magic. Not saying Gringlewald would have helped him but still I have always found it off Voldermort just never sought him for anything. Not knowledge or to join him or anything. Just to find out where the edler wand is.
@@Malkiore1 I'd guess that until he wanted The Elder Wand, Voldemort thought of Grindlewald as just a useless failure who fell to Dumbledore. Perhaps he also didn't want to meet him because of his own fear of Dumbledore. Like seeing the broken man that Grindlewald became would be a look at his own fate if he fought Dumbledore. (Though that is just wild conjecture on my part.)
Very interesting
I could have sworn in a different video you said the ring was before the diary (Myrtle) bc he was wearing it in the slughorn memory… which was before he opened the chamber
Elphias Doge: SUCH MAGIC! SO CAST! VERY SPELL! WOW!
Another w vid
Your timeline seems wrong, as Riddle already had the ring when he was discussing horcruxes with Slughorn. It's possible he hadn't turned it into a horcrux at this time, but that would mean the creation of one isn't directly tied to the killing of Gaunt. It's more likely that he had already made his first horcrux before discussing making more with Slughorn.
It also seems more likely that his facination with the Hogwarts founders started during his school years, rather than after his first attempt to get a teaching possition there. Indeed a core reason for wanting to come back was likely this facination.
Also you say the Giants resettled in Denmark, but in the books the seem to live in a "remote mountainous region in Northern Europe". Something that Denmark can hardly be described as, as it is very flat ;)
6:00 he made the ring into a horcrux First. Going to his family is how he discovered the Gaunt name connection, connection him to Slytherin, leading him to the Chamber location where the Basilisk kills Myrtle and Voldemort somehow uses that kill to make the diary horcrux. Common misconception
Could there be a third Wizarding war?
Its interesting how the 1. wizarding war was much larger in scope t han the second, but Voldemort never actually succeeded in overthrowing the Ministry of Magic during that whole war. He did in the 2. wizarding war.
I share this with you first because you're my favorite Harry Potter creator. Is it possible that Dumbledore foresaw the rise of Voldemort. Whether when he visits Voldemorts orphanage or when he created his first few horcrux's, Dumbledore decides to infuse faux with a charm that makes his shared wand core phoenix feather that makes it shape priore incantatum that saves harry from Voldemort not just in the goblet of fire but also during the first part of the deathly hallows. It also explains why Dumbledore is there when harry dies to separate himself from being Voldemort's final horcrux.
There is an error in the dating. Voldemort disappeared around 1955 and returned around 1965, when Dumbledore became Headmaster of Hogwarts. In the years 1965-1971, Voldemort operated legally and had many supporters, preaching the ideas of pure-blood superiority and the subordination of Muggles. In 1971 he decided to achieve his goals by force and then the war began.
Where did the original order of the Phoenix members meet when they had to meet?
Have you seen Super Carlin Brothers theory that says the ring was actually the first horcrux?
I don't think that Severus was Voldemort's favourite, close companion or anything in the 1st War, not yet, indeed he was reasonably high in ranks, Voldemort listened to his advise after all - regarding to the prophecy - but, never gave him a Horcrux for instance. I think Snape was still on probation at the time. Voldemort likely recognised his talent, lectured him in his free time or as a reward for successful missions, but did he really trust him??
Most likely Lucius and Bellatrix were the top Deatheaters
This man has been active for years. Puts out high quality content without fail and some of you can't be bothered to suscribe?
! Here’s a little story from Bloom’s point of view:
---
As I stepped off the Hogwarts Express, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves. Alfea was magical, but there was something so ancient and mysterious about Hogwarts. I clutched my suitcase tightly and tried to calm the butterflies in my stomach.
“Bloom, over here!” A voice called out, and I turned to see a bushy-haired girl waving enthusiastically.
“Hi, Hermione!” I smiled, glad to see a familiar face. We had exchanged letters before my arrival, and I was excited to finally meet her in person.
Hermione introduced me to her friends as we walked to the Great Hall. “This is Harry, Ron, and Ginny,” she said, pointing them out one by one.
Harry smiled warmly. “Welcome to Hogwarts, Bloom. Hermione’s told us all about you and Alfea.”
I blushed a little, feeling a rush of warmth. “Thanks, Harry. It’s great to be here. Hogwarts is even more incredible than I imagined.”
As we sat down for the feast, Ron leaned over, whispering, “So, you’re a fairy, right? Can you do, like, fairy stuff here?”
I laughed, nodding. “Yeah, I can still use my magic. Wanna see a little demonstration?”
Before Ron could respond, Hermione interjected, “Maybe later, Bloom. We don’t want to attract too much attention on your first night.”
I winked at Ron. “I’ll show you something cool later.”
After dinner, we headed to the Gryffindor common room. The cozy space, with its crackling fire and plush armchairs, felt welcoming. I was chatting with Ginny about Quidditch when Harry approached, holding a small, wrapped box.
“Bloom, I wanted to give you this,” he said, handing it over. “A little welcome gift.”
I unwrapped it to find a beautiful, enchanted bracelet. It shimmered with a soft, magical glow. “Harry, it’s lovely. Thank you!”
He smiled, looking a bit shy. “I thought it might remind you of home.”
That night, as I lay in bed, I couldn’t help but think about how different but wonderful Hogwarts was. The next few days were filled with new classes, magical creatures, and lots of laughter.
One afternoon, I found myself alone in the library with Harry. We were studying for Potions, but I couldn’t concentrate. Harry was telling me about his adventures, and I was mesmerized by his stories.
“You’ve been through so much,” I said softly. “You’re really brave, Harry.”
He shrugged modestly. “I’ve had a lot of help. And now, I have another friend here to help too.”
I felt a warm flush rise to my cheeks. “I’m glad I’m here. I’ve never felt so...at home.”
Harry looked into my eyes, his gaze intense and kind. “I’m glad you’re here too, Bloom.”
In that moment, the magic of Hogwarts felt even more enchanting. I knew this was the start of something special, filled with friendship, magic, and maybe even a bit of romance.
Great story, thank you very much for that, please keep it up
Was it the first war?
I've always wondered if this was the first time someone had sent a death curse at a child otherwise surely the love sacrifice lily made for Harry would have been a known thing as a natural mother child relationship
Im working on a story that focuses on the First Wizarding War and how other countries view it and almost making a First World War like. Of course, I don’t know why we never get other countries' perspectives. Does Japanese also too practice dark arts? Why doesn't the MACUSA help out? Do they have their own intervention?
Tom himself wasn't even pure blood.. the irony
You have 2 mistakes: 1.Tom talked to Slughorn about making 7 Horcruxes and you said 6 for some reason. 2.The war began in 1970. Other than that I love the video man.
I think he asked about splitting the soul into seven pieces, one being one’s self, and six being horcruxes. That’s the special thing about Harry, he is the seventh horcrux, which split voldys soul into eight pieces
@@wyattblaine7066 I checked it out. He does ask about 7. I know all about what he did. He simply put it destroyed his own soul. Voldemort is not such a great villain I think.
Interesting Stuff!!! 🪄🔮🧙♂
Because of the movies , I always pictured Lilly and james in their 30s, but they died at 21 years old
a story of a sify kid turning out to be magic
why wizzard dont use elemental magic like in naruto like the fire ball jutsu
That's like calling ww1 the "first human war". Like we're supposed to believe nothing went down for 1000's of years of recorded Wizarding history.
If the sorting hat followed the ideals of the founders how did half bloods like Snape and Riddle make it in to Slytheren ? Further more, why would either of them as powerful as they were embrace the pure blood supremacy ideal ?
Because the sorting hat was only created to take a single one of each founder's ideals into consideration, not all of their ideals. With Salazar Slytherin, that one ideal was "Ambition" so that's the only real criteria the hat takes into account when deciding if a new student fits into Slytherin house.
Blood purity is not the only trait Slytherin favoured ambition, resourcefulness, determination, and cleverness are the others
The ring was the first, not the diary.
Why Albania?
Did the Ministry of Magic know about the Order of the Phoenix🐦🔥 In the second war?
What is a wallpergis or whatever 😂
The Ring was the first horcrux! He got if from Morfin who he found out about the Chamber of secrets from. Summoning the baselisk and killing Myrtle! And creating his second horcrux - the diary!
Check again. The diary Horcrux was created in June of 1943 while the ring Horcrux was created in August that same year. Also the destruction of each Horcrux happen in the order they were created.
Only the super carlin brothers say that the ring was the the first horcrux.
Hahaha.... "There's a troll in the dungeon!"
E
Voldemort reminds me of a certain Adolf Hitler
I am good karma

Congrats
I’m new to all this but what I want to know is why did J. K. Rowling stop writing books? She could’ve done another seven books about the first visiting war seven books that Harry’s son going to hogwarts seven books about Harry add Magic college. Seven standalone novels about the other schools sort of a world tour. I’m just getting into the books she’s very talented there would’ve been no drop in quality I’m sure. What was the reason she gave at the time and has she ever taking it back? For crying out loud you could do seven about World War II
Deatheaters, or MAGA in the U.S.
what does this mean???
MAGA has nothing to do with the death eaters.
I've always wondered if this was the first time someone had sent a death curse at a child otherwise surely the love sacrifice lily made for Harry would have been a known thing as a natural mother child relationship
