It's really not that different now.
Ppl always forget the power of the music,back them they know how to handle a problem by mocking it and making it lighter, so ppl could accept and deal with it, is basically "lying" make less serious them actually is.
Some say is a way to dismiss a problem but actually is better and more efficient, make people accept it with GOOD and CYNICAL humor, not what we see today with is basically crying,cringing and trying to make a political point.
I see feel country do that in the right way, the best ones are England and Czech, my country Brazil do it still but lately is getting too politically correct :/
We are passing trough a process of witch hunt to politics and corruption, string go to US,China and UN rly shit stuff,without saying nowadays Brazil is one of the most dangerous places for journalism
But we still making "fun" of it accepting it and dealing with it.

It's from an album called Atomic Platters, I looked into it. look up Civil Defense Spot Records, I put some more of those songs up and also theres a website to get it on MP3 now.
