  • I don't want to work full-time and I never will. I want to have my freedom to explore life on my own terms, working part-time and learning to be my own person in the rest of the time. I talk about my future anxieties, income and mindset in this video, as well as how I chose this lifestyle, when the right time is to switch to working part-time and what the upsides of that are. I also talk about why I don't want to work full time and why I'm not lazy, I JUST want to live MY life. I don't dream of labor.

It's definitely not! And the way that people react to it is thinking they are lazy if they try to work less or others who do it are lazy. It's a twisted societal circle and it shouldn't affect us as it does. I hope you can find a way out and a way to do your own thing soon 💕😊

Love this! I left a 6 figure full time job to work part time and have no regrets. I only work 3 days a week now and have more time for myself and family. I hated the 9 to 5 job being trapped by the golden handcuffs. Id rather be in control of my own life/time rather than living to just work and buy more materials, bigger house, fancy cars, etc. That stuff won't matter if you don't have the time or energy to enjoy it.

Hey Mary! Thank you so much for sharing! First of all... you are a badass! It takes so much guts to make a good living like that and it takes even more to turn your back and say "I'm going to take care of myself and I'm going to enjoy my time". You are an amazing and brave person and I'm so happy that you could see right through that and find the happiness that truly suits your lifestyle. Who needs things when you can have.. anything? Laughter and nature are free. :) Love your story!

I too left job this year. Time is flying. I still can't get it where's all time is gone. I see work as great. I understand we need drivers to food shops, so I can take a bus, but generally we do not pay these drivers well. Instead we pay leaders. I think this needs to change. I do not work as I get easily tired of it. Maybe 20 to 30 hours a week, but no more thanks :)

Thank God, I’m not the only one who doesn’t want a full time job. I don’t want to live my life working… I want to have my free afternoons to pick up my daughter, breathe, do things i love, work on my business. I don’t want to invest all my life in someone else’s entreprise.

It’s how I feel, too. I absolutely hate working full time and I’m by no means a lazy person. I just hate that I have to work five days on someone else’s time and barely get two days to myself. It never leaves me feeling refreshed. I worked part time for a little while and it was glorious. I was still being productive and getting things done but I also felt like I had a life.

I’m 26 and recently went part time as a nurse, I was afraid of what people would say because I’m not married or have kids, But I was feeling so burned out and just unfulfilled with life. On my list of people to satisfy.. I was the last one!! Now I can live comfortably and do things I enjoy without feeling rushed…I was so stressed out all the time that I was losing hair, I wasn’t able to sleep on nights before work, I was even having nosebleeds from the stress. I felt like I was constantly trying to meet a deadline, but the deadline never came. Life is so much more simple now ❤ Praying we all find our paths in this life!

I can't just walk out and work part-time. I have aging parents, who have no income, to take care of. I am trapped in this endless loop of working till I'm physically and mentally exhausted, just to sleep my time away in order to do it all over again.

    • @AntoniatheUniverse

I'm really sorry to hear that and I really understand, it's unfair!
Is there any way you can optimize your income to make a little bit of passive income? Maybe investing, renting out, or anything else. Alternatively, is there any way you can reduce your financial needs? I recently made two videos talking about how I save for example.
I think I could definitely take care of myself and another person on my part-time income if they were to comply with my financial constraints. Still, it's hard and it's really not available to everyone. I'm just offering some ideas in the hopes that you may also find a solution for your life ❤

@@AntoniatheUniverse Thank you for your response. I haven't bought anything for myself in years, so I have some money saved up, but it's more of a safety net than a source of investment. Time, as cruelly as I would like to admit, is the most realistic way out for me. Let's just say that things might get better on their own in a few years, at least for me in terms of finances. While the situation has shaped me into a horrible person, it has also taught me many valuable lessons. I will not follow in my parents' footsteps by putting a child in my place. It frightens me to see people who consider their children to be their retirement funds.

My job is full time but it's almost like a part-time job because I am alone 90% of the time. I drive a small box truck for a company and I can go into a store to buy stuff I need while I'm on the clock and park anywhere to eat lunch and listen to audiobooks or podcasts while I'm driving. But the coworkers are annoying when I have to deal with them.

I especially liked your final point about "Nothing is guaranteed" and that one should just try it. It reminds me of another thing i read about risk: not taking risks in life is thr riskiest thing. If one takes the risk, the upside is living one's life on their terms and the downside is most likely where they are now. I interpret that as unlimited upside and limited downside

Great video ! Only problem is it’s a lot harder in United States now a days . Inflation is a lot higher, it’s harder to find affordable places to live , it’s very hard to get part time job that pays decent , and eating healthy here can be quite expensive.
So in this country getting out of the rat race can be pretty hard especially when the system is strictly designed for us to live this way. It’s possible but risky actions and abundance of patience is required.

People can also want to work part time because they maybe a practicing or freelance writer, Web designer, artist, illustrator, inventor, photographer, DJ for example. Considering most people try and keep fit as well, that's quite hard to do around a full time job, which is quite energy draining, plus there's the commute, which in some cases can be very frustrating and time consuming, if you are a creative type. Sometimes full time can work if the shift starts and finishes early, but there needs to be some recovery time before doing anything else.

Its a good thing I decided to self publish because thats more profitable than traditional. Im nearly done with my final draft of my book debut. Hopefully by autumn it'll be done then I can make the manuscript, submit it to Amazon and begin self publishing, using my money I've been saving up. Self publishers have a much better chance to make a living off their books than traditional. A lot of self publishers make below average income. Less is more. Same with work hours. Full-time work (when you are not doing something that you love) is an energy and time zapper. If you cannot bargain, you are a slave. It is better to freelance part-time doing something that you love, and earning less, and you end up manifesting more abundance for things that you otherwise would have had to pay for. Surprise wins have manifested. You have way more free time, even for the simplest things that bring so much joy. It is nice to travel when I want. I quit my 9-5 job two weeks ago. When you work the 9-5 you need more, and that money quickly gets zapped up on unnecessary cocktails and the like for "stress relief." Actual inflation is eating up that high salary anyway at the moment. Not worth it. I do not miss those cocktails either. You've got this.

The thing about not worrying about the future is something I still have to learn. In itself, I am satisfied with how my life is going at the moment. Because it went the last 2 months badly because my cat was sick (or is sick, she is already older and because I had worried about changes, thank God, it was determined in time that she has a thyroid hyperfunction, where she is now adjusted to meds). But I had friends I could rely on. And I realized that there are always ways and I try not to be so ashamed to depend on others for help. On the contrary, I just try to be a help to others as always ^^.

This would make working part time even worse than full time as I would then become overwhelmed and stressed. Currently I have a fulltime job working remotely where I am measured on my overall outputs which I find works really well.

    • @AntoniatheUniverse
      @AntoniatheUniverse  3 роки тому +3

Love to hear from you, Ben! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this! I think your version of the story is great too.. It's a little stressful sometime to be measured by output, but in the case of building pressure on you to crunch your work when you have fewer hours it actually fits. Maybe someone pays just as well without measuring your output?
Still, having your job be remote and relaxed probably wins this competition. I am happy for you!

Problem in Portugal is that most companies won't give a lot of opportunities to part time jobs. Most are for very specific qualified jobs or really low end low paid jobs. This last won't pay you enough for basic expenses such as food and shelter... Personally I would love to work part time because even if you loke it, 12hours a day away from home and your relatives is wasting our life and time with our loved ones. Life is too short and money can not buy time or make it go backwards.

Maybe there are some freelancing opportunities online? I also didn't have any options in Bulgaria, but since I moved to Germany there is a bit more to choose from. Still, I am freelancing now and it's kind of similar, so if you have that option - maybe you could look into it too? Good luck ❤️

Tell me about it I worked full time before it gave me depression and anxiety and sometimes I would not get enough sleep it’s the co-workers half the the time that could be toxic to deal with for so many hours. Part time job or just living off some side hustles are what I prefer but there are some reasons why ppl will work full time and that’s health care and benefits but nothing is guarantee in life especially if you hope you reach that age of retirement anyone can pass away anytime.

I'm planning to get to this point. I have a chronic illness and one thing the pandemic has taught me is that I need to have as much control over my time, to rest when I need to etc, as possible. And I need to be out in nature a lot. I want to have more options to work in a job I love and a lot of the jobs in the subject area I love are part time. I just enjoy being at home and not travelling somewhere too. My hope is to buy a house soon and then do what I can to reduce my bills so I can work part time. I plan to craft and sell those to boost my income a little too. Thank you for this video I didn't know other people thought like this.

Damn, Steven, I'm so sorry to hear that. Nobody deserves to be treated this way, no matter what kind of job they are working in. If you can, you should definitely give part-time work a go, but of course it comes with it's own limitations. I wouldn't worry about them before trying though, maybe it's exactly what you need to get a fresh start and reset. Even if you don't get it, please believe that you deserve more than the way that you've been treated, and report your bosses to HR or just try to move on as soon as you can. I wish you lots of luck and strength! 😊
