Yeah i agree with dual wielding a Macbook Pro and a Mac Studio if you do any professional work or if a big portion (or all) of your income is based on editing work. A beefy Mac Studio and mid-range Macbook Pro is a good balance for being able to do heavy lifting when you're editing at home but also be able to get work done on the go if you need to.
I have the same Mac but a 14inch I got it cause it was the few nano texture versions that apple has in stock at the Apple Store. that has good specs! I also have a Mac Studio M2 Ultra and a older 1m max 16inch
Also, by the way, I'm a musician/videographer. I use Ableton, and my Ableton sessions routinely use 20-32gb of RAM. A lot of UA-camrs don't know if you use one or two string sounds (like from Spitfire). Each sound can be 1-3gb of RAM, so RAM can be very important . Here is what I do, by the way: ua-cam.com/video/fSmS361NGxw/v-deo.html. love your vids a long time watcher
Nano texture makes so much sense on a MacBook than on iPad or iPhone. iPad or iPhone we have the choice to use matte screen protector but on MacBook, hell no I will put anything on the screen.
Good logic. If one has the money, get a great desktop and then a 'usable' laptop along with external SSD drives. I am waiting for the next Studio Max in 2025 before I upgrade and if I get a laptop, it would be the 16" MBP.
Don't get OWC Thunderbolt 5 drives, they aren't as fast. Get a t5 enclosure and get the latest Sammy Evo and it's faster. OWB only has 50G of SLC cache, the Sammy drive will keep 5 to 6G the whole transfer.
It’s my first dib into M Series aftee using the i9 16 Macbook Pro, I just bought a used m2 max 14 macbook pro at only 1500. It’s really good compared to the i9. So smooth with my 34” 1440 144hz.
“Downgrade”
yes haha. lots more CPU horsepower, a bit less GPU horsepower and storage :)
“Downgrade”
I upgraded from the M1 air to the base m4 and im loving it, to me the m4 pro felt like over kill

I am updating from an old 15-inch 2012 Macbook Pro Retina to an M4 Macbook Pro. Everything feels immediate.

I upgraded from a old 2017 Lenovo I7 intel laptop to a base m4 pro and the upgrade is insane for me.

good to know - did you see this is a Max Tech video?
Considering switching from my M1 MBP to the M4 just for the power increase and the nanotexture display 👀👀
