I have been stopping on the same Venev 160/125 that you did and it works so much better for the stuff I do. I do a lot of trimming twigs on my bonsai plants. A polished edge often is to slippery to make a clean cut. My sharp toothy edges now take them off with just a light pull perpendicular to the twig. Thanks always for your tips, Jerad.
It’s 9-20-22 and I just discovered the Kubey KU322. What a great looking knife. I like ‘em big. Had to watch your review ~ a great review, it helped me make my decision to buy the knife. Thanks.
chk-CHRK. That's a fine sound, haha. I love it when there's a spot before the flipper tab that cradles your finger as it passes over to the tab. Makes the knife seem so friendly and accommodating, haha. And a jimped thumb ramp! Two of my favorite touches. ✨
Just purchased this knife. Love it. Very similar to my Civivi Praxis. Ordered directly from Kubey, $50, and arrived quickly. Quickly becoming my favorite EDC. The D2 seems solid.
I just won one of these last second on an ebay auction for $15. My first kubey. And I was impressed! It is a quite large knife, but for the price I don't regret it! 🤷♂️
After having one in hand (two actually), it definitely gets my vote for Budget Knife of the Year, although the Damned Designs Invictus is a very close second :)
Wow Jared . I know I m late to the party again but this is one really good knife imo . Love the action . It’s one of those good ones with great jimping on the flipper that grips the skin just right and just fires , hard to miss or fail but possible . Super drop , finger and thumb flick are all easy like you say . I like this , the momentum, Thalia and Doris . I think Kubey is very underrated and up there with the rest of the competition and have really good sale prices. Have a great weekend bros .
Such an amazing budget knife! Kubey's stepping it up! Recently picked this one up and an Atlas...seriously, they both should be on your list if you're wanting 2 examples of well-executed knives! Nice review, Jerad!
I agree brother I love these Kubey knives. The titanium atlas is super sweet for 150 bucks it is one really good knife all the way around for me anyways . The titanium wolverine is one of the most lightest but solid lock bars out of all my titaniums and it wasn’t expensive at all .
@@cueball981 we have the same one. So Stella‘s knife obsession has a vid on it and she was raving about it and it was one of the first titaniums I bought . I think I’ve heard your name mentioned several times on some of these channels. What I like about it is the action and the lock bar is really really easy to disengage . They still have the blue ones at knifeglobal , it’s one of kubeys sites or KB .
I'm very happy with my Kubey Arius, uh, I mean, my KU322!! 🤣🤣🤣 Great recommendation Jerad!! Now if it was only in 14C28N! 😁😁😁 JK. The D2 feels pretty good. Could easily be budget knife of the year. I would not argue with you. Good review, sir! ✌️
This design is like a cleaned up version of the Koenig Arius. Are there any knives that look like this but use a better steel for the blade and aluminium or titanium for the handles? I think that would be my wife knife - the one for a life time. 🙂 Thanks for all your reviews. You're honest like a child and that's really rare and heartwarming.
This guy was sold out first time ya reviewed it. So today I missed out on the full TI Asher spiro after the video drop. So I went and picked up the jade/black kubey 322! Woohooo
Been shopping for a Arius for a while and just cant find that perfect version. Guess ill grab one of these untill i find the right one. Thanks for showing it.
I ordered 2 on Amazon a jade g10 and black stonewash black and a green g10 stonewash blade. I’m going to make some scales for it. It’s going to be a few weeks until there back in stock and ready to ship from Amazon.
Yeah I linked them in description, but I'm not sure if people will receive them right away or not, this will look amazing after you make some scales, so are you planning on making scales for purchase in the future or are you just doing them for yourself?
@@NeevesKnives I’m not sure yet if I’m going to make scales for others as a service but for now just for myself. Still learning as I go and definitely still making stupid mistakes. Going to make the first set out of some type of micarta but maybe when I feel comfortable and not making mistakes use some fancy Carbon Fiber. It will definitely class up the knife.
I just ordered the budget version. I wish so bad it came in a powdered steal. Dan anyone recommend a knife like this (thumb hole and flipper) in a premium steal for under 250??
Hi Jared , Thanks for sharing always killing it ! I have the KU122 and a TwoSun TS270 on the way ! Can I get a similar edge with the Work Sharp attachment? I mean a more rough edge , It seems when I run through all the belts the edge is always polished , Thanks 🙏
If you mean on the Ken onion system no you can't, you can get a coarse convexed edge, you just have to use the first or first 2 belts don't go any further
@@NeevesKnives Hey Jared , I’m sure you know this but today I found out on the WorkSharp Elite you can move the lower angle pulley forward with the extra bolt hole , to make the space shorter between pulleys for less flex , they also sell extra stiff belt kit so you can achieve a closer V grind 😀
Jared, love your videos as always but at the same time hate you as I can not buy so many of the knives that you guys get cheap in the good old USA and is one more of the many things that makes me want to move State side. Just curious, why does noone ever mention how easy (or hard) the folding knife is to wrist-flick open? Or do a basic drop test on carpet? My sample has "excellent" action but it has poor detent, very weak, even dropping it on carpet from a foot or two will snap open completely. Anyone else have these issues? I have seen this as a common issue with these "fall shut" knives, even some premium knives.
There's a bunch of knives that might not sound cool to you like sqeaks, or lock stick sounds, like I'm not a fan of the umnumzaan with the washers on the studs it makes it open silently, there's knives with amazing sounds then there's just preference but I've had many examples of knives that are just normal then you have the knives that stand out
It usually does good between Medium and fine grit so between 600 and 5k, depending on the heat treat, but can usually take a decent polish if wanted, sometimes it can lose its bite fast after some use, and in that case then around 600 to 1200
Yeah the detents are Definitely solid, on the brute side it will only break in over time and get better and better, but if it's Elway to strong you can always do a detent adjustment
Yeah I'm only letting the very apex very lightly rub the Ceramic just enough to tare a burr off, a micro bevel would require pressure little pressure but more than removing a burr requires and the angle matters in that case a bit more. You can do the same thing with your stone by doing single passes back n forth but you have to hold the same angle you sharpened at. This is a bit faster
@@NeevesKnives So, would you do that after the first stone if you were moving onto another stone, or do it at the very end of the progression prior to stropping?
@@MrEric0822 I usually only doit at the end, if I did it before moving to another stone it's only on one side to tear the burr off from getting on my stone, so it doesn't end up scratching my stone and ending up on my stone. If I go to a really high grit I'm less likely to doit unless I have an actual burr because I don't want it to make tear outs unless I'm going to doit as a micro bevel
Or the kubey site they have them at dealers as well, but I believe they are sold out atm, but will be back very soon, but white mountain, knife center, blade hq, all have kubeys
