    Ive been interested in bionic/prothetic hands for the longest time, even wanting to get into making them myself and this is EASILY my favorite design. Every other one simply has the ability to flex and release the fingers in a linear motion. THIS has the full range of freedom that we need. Easily the best design.

    This looks significantly more gracile than (I think) every prosthetic hand on the market. It might be very interesting as a side project if Clone partnered with an established prosthetics company, perhaps those working on direct brain/nerve to prosthetic control?
    Granted, Clone seems more interested in robot application, but, partnership, or leasing parts of Clone licensing to a prosthetics company may lead to more funding.

    Though I know the end goal of your project is focused more on the development of an android, I would absolutely love to see this project explore the possibilities for prosthetic use, something like what you've created here could massively improve the lives of countless people. This sort of technology is the future imo, essentially every single mechanical prosthetic limb on the market isn't remotely capable of the versatility demonstrated by the clone-hand, and I'm certain looking into prosthetic usage could increase your funding by an order of magnitude, no matter what you do lads, keep it up and good luck.

    ... Okay, so I'm super happy that you guys went and did the hand-tracking thing. Above and beyond.
    But that wasn't enough, and the examples weren't as eye-popping as I was hoping they would be.
    We need a way to show that the movements can look as smooth as a human hand's does, and I think the quest 2's hand-tracking is too slow.
    What about one one of those hand-tracking gloves?

    • @dhanushrad9738
      @dhanushrad9738 Рік тому +1

      Of course it's not enough. The hand tracking is very inaccurate. We just hacked it up in a couple weeks to show it's possible. Everyone has been asking us to demo slow, precise movements for a while, and I would always mention that we need a learning system (neural network) to get it working. Here, it's sort of working with a PID-type control, which frankly should not work at all for such a high dimensional and nonlinear system. Upon closing this fundraise, we will first finalize our actuators and energy supply for the android, after which it's going to be learning approaches the rest of the way (RL in the real world, video pre-training, LLM planning, sim2real, etc).

    I believe it may help if you cast the arm in some sort of semi solid substance like silicone. Not a substitute for skin but to hold the muscle analog in place more securely. It may reduce shaking. Of course I'm also not an expert so I could just be spouting stupid ideas but it sounds plausible to me. To clarify I mean cast as in completely solid and filled with silicone to the core, not just an outer layer.

    Raising late-2023 /2024 would probably be the best time to do things since right now, the markets are sapped of capital and credit. Federal Reserve really botched things up with their monetary tightening, though at some point in the next few months, they'll likely be forced to drop interest rates like a rock. Once that happens, liquidity usually returns to markets within the year, and investment capital quickly follows. Y Combinator and other firms also do startup and microcap funding in exchange for a stake, so they may be worth checking out as well.
