lol one my nunchuks sometimes have a mind of their own and move Mario wherever they want him to go, and I have to unplug the nunchuk to use it again. My other one works fine though.
Because the "game over" screen in Galaxy 2 doesn't really work as a thumbnail and I wanted a cool pic of Bowser in it to signify that these levels are hard.
5:22 OH MY GOD NO, THAT GALAXY IS A NIGHTMARE. I remember spending HOURS trying to get that star. Btw where's that level where you had to use a Rock Mushroom to move to other platforms with no walls or bouncy ones? I don't remember its name but it was the worst. Edit: Melty Monster Galaxy - Star 2
#10: This is one of the longest stars I remember, of course because of Squizzard. What helped me was getting a Fire Flower, waiting for Squizzard to throw the balls, and then moving to the closest stones to get fireballs in. In Phase 2, just disable his bomb cannons as you dodge the balls and wait for him to open wide. After about 20 attempts on my first playthrough, I remember needing around 4 the second time. #9: Dino Piranha and King Kaliente should not give you any problems. With Major Burrows, avoid the dark patches he leaves behind and let him come as close as possible to you before you ground pound, since that gives you the most time to chase him. With Bouldergeist, spin the Black Boos close to him so you can attack him early and also neutralize his hands. Fiery Dino Piranha is the hardest one because after the first hit, every single cycle of "tail flames on, tail flames off" is 2 seconds. Just stay behind him, watch the cycle, and spin accordingly. #8: I really wish they didn't add the checkpoints here. In some ways, getting to the Boomsday Machine (particularly the cannon shot) is more difficult than fighting it. Also, like in the Cloudy Court Galaxy, that's Dark Matter instead of poison water. #7: What helps me here is tapping the control stick. I never had trouble with getting this. #6: Fun. Whenever you need to be in pretty much the same place to allow the Golden Chomp to keep rolling, do little things like tapping the control stick or crouching. That will delay the Cosmic Clones and will give you a bit more room, especially at the ! switch. #5: The spike wall jumps always were a hectic part, and about 10 of my 15 attempts I remember last taking on this star ended there. Again, it might pay to slide down certain walls so that you can delay the CCs. #4: I have to say the addition of Cosmic Clones does not compensate for making the yellow platforms static. The rotations on those were one of the few things that I found made Luigi's Purple Coins interesting, and now it's simply "improvise a route that both gets you Purple Coins and helps you evade the CCs", the star. Even with a third less time, I did not have problems here. #3: Make sure you get the Purple Coins in the flat areas. I found the Coin Ball's controls to be good on slopes for the most part, so there isn't much to go in the way of precise or tight inputs. #2: I legitimately think this is harder than The Perfect Run. On my second playthrough (which I remember more), it took me about 25 attempts, all because of the controls. The slide is way more slippery to adjust than I ever found the Star/Coin Balls to be, and so trying to consistently nab lines of coins and evade the Wigglers and Needle Plants is way harder than it needs to be. Even tapping the control stick seems to give Mario/Luigi a lot of momentum in that direction, so that didn't help me. Not to mention, re-orienting yourself if you start missing coins. Damn this star to Hell. #1: My 5th attempt was the first where I made it past the first section, and after that, I got through the rest. Don't rush, grab Star Bits where it's safe, and pelt the Bros. at the end with them. Frankly, I was kind of disappointed by it.
I agree with most of this list! I especially agree with the part where you said that most of the levels were forgettable. I honestly couldn't remember what to do in most of the stars you had on the list
Great Top 10! You know, I feel bad you had to painfully suffer through the Tall Trunk's Purple Coins. I knew that you'd put The Perfect Run and Luigi's Purple Coin Chaos in this Top 10! The Cosmic Clones from the Chompworks Galaxy are not that hard, actually (at least compared to the Flip-Out Galaxy, anyway). Personally, I wouldn't have placed the Boss Blitz Galaxy in this Top 10.
Three things I never got out of this game (obviously there’s more but I haven’t completed these items. Luigi’s purple coin run Rainbow road mayhem And for whatever reason, a star coin on a bird level. Not sure why that was a pain.
My opinions on the stars: #10: Honestly, I found it more easy than hard. I beat it on my 1st/2nd try. #9: Okay, the bosses are easy to maneuver except for the Bouldergeist one. That one eats up a lot of time. #8: This is hard because of Bowser's cloud-sucking machine. It kills every hope I had on the run I was having. #7: If there were corpses in the game, I would have piles and piles on this one. The controls are so freaking sensitive!! #6: This might be easy if you like mind-numbing puzzles and plan exactly where to go. #5: This one was *HELL*. I like taking my time especially when I need it. But, in this star, I don't have time. :l #4: Never, not even for bets, would I play this hellish mission again. #3: I barely fluked this star in 5-7 attempts. I'm lucky. #2: I would switch 3 and 2 because 3 has more tight constraints than 2. #1: It took me 100-ish attempts to achieve destiny from a video game. These are _my_ opinions, so don't get pissed off If you disagree, 'kay?
Tip for Purple Coin Beach Dash: For those of you who don't know, Yoshi will move automaticaly in the direction he's facing if he eats a Dash Pepper. If you want to complete this star easily, avoid moving the analog stick up. Just tap it in the direction you want to move.
I remember one of my hundred attempts at the perfect run... all the 3 boomerang bros were defeated and the launch star appeared But when I was just about to shake... one of the remaining boomerangs that were still flying even after they died hit me. All I wanted to do was to hang myself in my bedroom...

The only way I would quit is if perfect run had all of these: 1. 1 hit point 2. Purple coins 3. Cosmic clones 4. A time limit of 1 to 2 minutes with no clocks to pick up
Even though it's a prankster comet list, you should've made an exception for the Chimp's challenges. I rage over those more than any other levels in the game. Especially the stomp challenge in Honeyhop Galaxy because I can never keep a consistent stomp chain going because I either fall short of the enemies and run into them, or I'm about to land on one of them, only to have them shoot me out of the way. That, or the Chimp's ice skating challenge in the one galaxy with Prince Pikante. It's the same as the one in Freezyflake, same pattern of things that you have to hit and same time limit, except you are required to get 100 more points to beat it
It's kind of funny because when I played the regular Squizzard level, that one caused me to rage, but when I did the daredevil run, I got it in one try. When I did the Cosmic Clones in the Chompworks, I was pretty much panicking by the time I ground pounded the button because I ground pounded right into a Clone. I still got the golden chomp onto the platform, but I only had one wedge of health so I was basically just running around the last area trying not to get hit. But I did realize that if you bump the joystick a bunch of times, Mario will move in short bursts, which can help slow down the clones
I got so lucky on the purple coin beach dash. I reached the end and I had 96 coins and 5 seconds. Luckily my hand was so unstable with the nunchuck, that I accidentally had Yoshi go around a whole group of three coins. So I quickly ran back and got them and then grabbed a fourth one just as the timer hit 0
The real rage kicks in when 241 stars almost beat the perfect run pause game to go to the bathroom and younger sibling turns off machine because "I wanna play just dance" and I still have not played in 2 years.
When I was 7, when I was on the Boss Blitz Throwback Throwdown Speed Run, I was stuck there for 2 weeks or something, having about 3 temper tantrums because of it. I was always very inconsistent with Bouldergeist. Normally Bouldergeist, even with the Daredevil star, was easy for me. But the time limit always made me stressed and made me take damage. When I got to Fiery Dino Piranha, I always had from 30 to 40 seconds left. Finally, when I beat it, I had 1 SECOND LEFT. You putting that star only on number 9 gives me crippling depression
I even thought this star was harder than the Perfect Run. And yes, I beat The Perfect Run when I was 7 and then when I fully replayed the game I was 8.
the chompworks shadow clone mission is BY FAR my #1 in difficulty since it's one of the few levels I haven't beat and have played over 100 times and I've never pulled my hair out so much in ANY mission except that one like...it's PAIN
So Galaxy 1 and two were my childhood, I 99.9% completed galaxy 2 all I needed was prankster for perfect run, I used a glitch involving bouncing on koopas to get 99 lives, I KID YOU NOT, I used that glitch about 6 times, and I used all 99 lives every time I could NOT do it, I literally had a seizure on the floor when I finally did it. It took SO LONG!
In Cosmic clones in the chompworks there is actually a way to get rid of all the clones in the level. There are enough coins in the level to heal you so if u get hit by one clone then collect the coin the clones won't come and respawn again
I can’t say I appreciate how you knock this game for having a lot of throwbacks. The first game recycled its own levels in several instances and most of 2’s throwbacks are relegated to the special world. The more I revisit both games the better 2 seems to me.
@@Albert_Pecanio those two are only the beginning. In general the first game recycles its gimmicks more often. I’m not biased at all since I have a lot more memories with the first game, but the second game is just far better overall imo.

And actually, the recycled gimmicks give a sense of unity and cohesion to levels that add on to the beauty of the game and make it more complete. Having such a variety makes a game gimmicky. also other than replay ability, what else makes the 2nd game far better overall? just asking. also sorry if my comment came out a bit too aggressive. @@Albert_Pecanio I do not slander galaxy 1’s post game if we’re talking post-bowser, even if it still has problems. Playing the game again as Luigi isnt worthwhile content. It’s a neat bonus but it’s not something that should be used to say that the game has more worthwhile content. 2’s post-game after 120 stars is better because it at least changes how you approach the levels. The only real problems it has are some lacking QoL features which make it drag out longer than it needs to. What makes 2 a better game overall imo, are due to reasons that people would use to compare other mario games. The gameplay is more engaging, the levels are more varied and the game’s gimmicks are in service to the platforming a lot more than the first game’s were. A much better roster of power ups which change up the game in more meaningful ways while not betraying the platforming. Among other things. Really, galaxy 2 is simply a more refined take on the formula set up in the first game. The world building isn’t as interesting but when it comes to the metrics people typically use to judge mario games, galaxy 2 is better in most ways.
number 10 is actually 2× more easier with a second player- the second player can stop and destroy the projectiles in midair while you spam squizzard with fireballs with no worries

Sure, they were annoying a little in that mission. 5. I haven't done that yet! 4. I just remembered, I mastered the art of Long Jumping. 3. That wasn't hard, my skill with Motion Controls was worth it! 2. I did better on the last mission. 1. I've never done that, but I'm not ready for it...
Any fight with the cloud mushroom ESPECIALLY the boomsday machine thing bowser jr uses. Stupid mission that took me ages! I am in awe of speedrunners for magically being able to scale the machine
i’ve had plenty of experiences where squizzard died as soon as i died and watching the squizzard death cutscene during mario’s death cutscene was very strange edit: also no, restarting the entire comet level from square one was not fun and the checkpoints in certain comet missions are greatly appreciated i still have ptsd from dying and restarting on lava spire daredevil run way too many times
#10: it's a banana #9: Scooby and the Gang #8: The Alamo tower #7: when your playing Mario Kart 8, and going from First to Last in a matter of seconds. #6: When your trying to do your job on drugs. #5: Parcore #4: When Luigi hates Mario. #3: playing Mario Kart 7 and wished you had smart steering. #2: that one water slide from ZDT's #1: hog heaven.
Idk what’s so hard about Beach Dash, like the Dash Pepper is not hard to control, there are 135 coins so there’s plenty of margin for error (and they’re in a straight line), and I couldn’t care less about the timer. It’s not like Mario Galaxy 1 where the timer keeps going after the Star spawns

Cosmic Clones in the Chompworks: **** that level. Thank god it's not a daredevil level (God Forbid) but even so, you can't mess up. There's SO many clones trying to take you down! Luigi's Purple Coin Chaos: Only two minutes to collect 100 out of 100 purple coins with Cosmic Clones around every corner? No. Cosmic Clone Wall Jampers: The last part. Enough said. I'm surprised Tall Trunks Purple Coin Slide was on here though. It doesn't seem very hard to me, though sometimes the final section does make mincemeat out of me on occasion. And yes, out of curiosity, I did try getting 0 coins on that level (as well as the rainbow road level, **** that level too) and I only managed to do it once. Took me a lot of tries.
I was able to beat The Perfect Run. But, I also kept Yoshi by navigating through the spark maze using the infinite hover glitch. Don't be like me kids.

Even though it's a prankster comet list, you should've made an exception for the Chimp's challenges. I rage over those more than any other levels in the game. Especially the stomp challenge in Honeyhop Galaxy because I can never keep a consistent stomp chain going because I either fall short of the enemies and run into them, or I'm about to land on one of them, only to have them shoot me out of the way. That, or the Chimp's ice skating challenge in the one galaxy with Prince Pikante. It's the same as the one in Freezyflake, same pattern of things that you have to hit and same time limit, except you are required to get 100 more points to beat it

It's kind of funny because when I played the regular Squizzard level, that one caused me to rage, but when I did the daredevil run, I got it in one try.
When I did the Cosmic Clones in the Chompworks, I was pretty much panicking by the time I ground pounded the button because I ground pounded right into a Clone. I still got the golden chomp onto the platform, but I only had one wedge of health so I was basically just running around the last area trying not to get hit. But I did realize that if you bump the joystick a bunch of times, Mario will move in short bursts, which can help slow down the clones
I got so lucky on the purple coin beach dash. I reached the end and I had 96 coins and 5 seconds. Luckily my hand was so unstable with the nunchuck, that I accidentally had Yoshi go around a whole group of three coins. So I quickly ran back and got them and then grabbed a fourth one just as the timer hit 0
Purple Coin Beach Dash was easy. I beat it in the 1st try.
The real rage kicks in when 241 stars almost beat the perfect run pause game to go to the bathroom and younger sibling turns off machine because "I wanna play just dance" and I still have not played in 2 years.

When I was 7, when I was on the Boss Blitz Throwback Throwdown Speed Run, I was stuck there for 2 weeks or something, having about 3 temper tantrums because of it. I was always very inconsistent with Bouldergeist. Normally Bouldergeist, even with the Daredevil star, was easy for me. But the time limit always made me stressed and made me take damage. When I got to Fiery Dino Piranha, I always had from 30 to 40 seconds left. Finally, when I beat it, I had 1 SECOND LEFT.
You putting that star only on number 9 gives me crippling depression
I even thought this star was harder than the Perfect Run. And yes, I beat The Perfect Run when I was 7 and then when I fully replayed the game I was 8.
the chompworks shadow clone mission is BY FAR my #1 in difficulty since it's one of the few levels I haven't beat and have played over 100 times and I've never pulled my hair out so much in ANY mission except that one like...it's PAIN

tbh Squizzard's Daredevil Run wasn't that hard for me. Yea, the fire was kinda hard to control, but I was really good with the nunchunk.
So Galaxy 1 and two were my childhood, I 99.9% completed galaxy 2 all I needed was prankster for perfect run, I used a glitch involving bouncing on koopas to get 99 lives, I KID YOU NOT, I used that glitch about 6 times, and I used all 99 lives every time I could NOT do it, I literally had a seizure on the floor when I finally did it. It took SO LONG!
In Cosmic clones in the chompworks there is actually a way to get rid of all the clones in the level. There are enough coins in the level to heal you so if u get hit by one clone then collect the coin the clones won't come and respawn again

I can’t say I appreciate how you knock this game for having a lot of throwbacks. The first game recycled its own levels in several instances and most of 2’s throwbacks are relegated to the special world. The more I revisit both games the better 2 seems to me.
lol. gold leaf + sea slide secret star are the only examples of recycled content. Besides they improve off the original. a very biased statement
@@Albert_Pecanio those two are only the beginning. In general the first game recycles its gimmicks more often. I’m not biased at all since I have a lot more memories with the first game, but the second game is just far better overall imo.
@@callinater6133 mhm. I've seen you slander galaxy 1's post game content for not being varied enough, and now you let galaxy 2 off the hook for recycled content. And actually, the recycled gimmicks give a sense of unity and cohesion to levels that add on to the beauty of the game and make it more complete. It's like saying that pull stars should only be used once because otherwise you're recycling content. Having such a variety makes a game gimmicky.

@@Albert_Pecanio I do not slander galaxy 1’s post game if we’re talking post-bowser, even if it still has problems. Playing the game again as Luigi isnt worthwhile content. It’s a neat bonus but it’s not something that should be used to say that the game has more worthwhile content. 2’s post-game after 120 stars is better because it at least changes how you approach the levels. The only real problems it has are some lacking QoL features which make it drag out longer than it needs to.
What makes 2 a better game overall imo, are due to reasons that people would use to compare other mario games. The gameplay is more engaging, the levels are more varied and the game’s gimmicks are in service to the platforming a lot more than the first game’s were. A much better roster of power ups which change up the game in more meaningful ways while not betraying the platforming. Among other things.
Really, galaxy 2 is simply a more refined take on the formula set up in the first game. The world building isn’t as interesting but when it comes to the metrics people typically use to judge mario games, galaxy 2 is better in most ways.
number 10 is actually 2× more easier with a second player- the second player can stop and destroy the projectiles in midair while you spam squizzard with fireballs with no worries

Idk what’s so hard about Beach Dash, like the Dash Pepper is not hard to control, there are 135 coins so there’s plenty of margin for error (and they’re in a straight line), and I couldn’t care less about the timer. It’s not like Mario Galaxy 1 where the timer keeps going after the Star spawns

I'm surprised Tall Trunks Purple Coin Slide was on here though. It doesn't seem very hard to me, though sometimes the final section does make mincemeat out of me on occasion. And yes, out of curiosity, I did try getting 0 coins on that level (as well as the rainbow road level, **** that level too) and I only managed to do it once. Took me a lot of tries.
I was able to beat The Perfect Run. But, I also kept Yoshi by navigating through the spark maze using the infinite hover glitch. Don't be like me kids.
For the chomp works galaxy cosmic clones, all I can say is that one was a TOTAL NIGHTMARE, I nearly raged quit 10 times on it...
FOR all the hard levels 10 to 2 I did it in like 3 or 4 tries but grandmaster took me like 1000 tries
