Danny, Your videos have improved steadily over the years, and I greatly admire your intelligence and graceful persistence. Congratulations on the smart choices and hard work you have put into your orchid growing, especially the successful move to Cyprus. I feel lucky to be able to view what you are sharing. You're a gem !
Look like a fly it crawled then stopped and crawled then stopped. Some of Danny's videos were from a plant porch she had years ago so it's possible. Just get yourself a venus fly trap.

I have scale insect problem for years. They are impossible to get rid of and I've tried everything. Now I just keep an eye out and keep spraying the solution which I should thank you for. I think I got the idea from you it does work but they alway come back. I notice that scales like some orchids more than others. Thanks for the video
I am sorry to hear you are still trying to get rid of them :( I hope you manage to at least keep them under control, I am not sure which solution works best though, My orchid died before I figured it and luckily didn't have scale since.
Hello in my orchid there are too many small mites well not in the leaves or flowers but in the pot and around the roots I don’t have any idea how to remove them and it too small ...can you help me please
@@pennysparkles6770 don't ever buy that medium again. What kind is it, I won't ever buy it either. My husband bought black gold potting medium for epiphytic orchids but it's pretty much regular soil with some fluffy loam and bark thrown in. Almost killed my orchids before I learned better.
Mealy bugs arghhhhhhhh they are so so resistant their eggs are impossible to spot and three days later after removing the first ones I see tiny ones again arghhhhhh I really hates them they are sneaky little pests
This video was very helpful!! Thank you! recently I seen little white critters run around my Orchid and had no idea what to go! love watching your videos! Thankyou!!
My oncidium has these tiny tiny tiny brown bugs that I can only see when I water my orchid and let it drip on a tray. Flowers r bloomed but now I’m wondering if I should repot
I've seen a clip from a man that said crush 3 garlic clove in 500ml water for 24hrs, strain then wipe leaves. He also sprayed the roots for bugs with the mixture. I'm new at orchids (3 months) but years of roses & use liquid soap & water for aphids.
Hi, yeah people say and do whatever crosses their mind, no regard for proper scientific basis. It is how the world works and we just gotta filter the nonsense out 😊
Hi Danny, I have few Orchids and one of it was infected with something Iam not familiar with. The Orchid leaves has silver dust on it and the affected part of the leaf appears like these silver dust is eating the leaves.
Hi Danny, thank you so much for all your wonderful videos! I found tiny white bugs (0.5-1mm long) on the barks of my phalaenopsis orchids. some of them seem to have wings... Although there might be two types of pests I'm dealing with. I've just repotted my big phalaenopsis and now I'm about to repot my mini phalaenopsis orchids from moss to bark. I'm just not sure what I'm dealing with here...
Why is the leaves ion my orchids plant. Turn yellow. Is it not enough water? I plant it in charcoals. Please let me know . This is my first plant THANKS

+MissOrchidGirl Thanks . Just found out the seller pack 3 plants into one pot and and the one that have the yellow have very little roots and very wet. So I remove this plant and put it in another pot . Hopefully I can save it. Thanks for being so helpful.
There are teeny tiny ants in between my vanda leaves and they crawl up onto the flowering plants and seem to suck the sap cause the buds dry out. What to do? Perhaps they are not ants?
Hi Dannie, My husband recently bought me an orchid plant. A pretty mid sized phalanopsis When I opened it I found it was infected with white flies. Im wondering what to do with it. I thought about throwing it out or returning it but I would like your opinion on treating it. I have a large orchid collection and I did not bring it near them it’s quarantined. I’m wondering what the best thing to do with it. What are your thoughts please? Thank you very much! I only watch your videos and love your channel
Hi, I am not sure exactly what it could be without some other info, but a picture would help, just upload a picture to photobucket, flickr, instagram, imgur or g plus and share the link in a comment here, I'll take a look :)
Theresa Krider Are the gnats coming from a bag of potting (bark) chips, or the chips that you eat? I'm just trying to clarify, but given the forum, I'll assume you mean bark chips. Depending upon how much/big the bag is, I’d just toss the whole bag, and maybe contact the vendor from whom you bought them. I boil any media I use before use (except sphagnum moss, and I only use the best kind, the long fibered New Zealand variety, and rehydrate it using distilled water) which makes any medium perfectly clean, and I always use gloves while handling my orchids and/or their media. You could maybe try boiling your bark chips for about 25-30 minutes before you use it, which should kill the gnats and their eggs, plus you get the added bonus of having nice, clean, moist bark to use when you repot any orchids that you may have already potted up and bark from this bag. Throw this bark into a separate bag to put in the trash, and seal the bag of contaminated bark really well, then when you take your larger bag of trash out, seal THAT trash bag really well, too. Leaving this infested bark out in the trash is like a gnat's wet dream, if they were to have them. So, don't give them that opportunity! Any of the clean and boiled bark that's leftover needs to be dry before it's stored to prevent mold from forming, which is not desirable. When I used bark, I’d always put it on a cookie sheet in the oven at about 325° F for ten minutes or so, which will vary, depending on how wet the chips were, but the oven WILL remove the moisture from the bark, eventually. Then I'll store it in a gallon-sized Ziplock™ bag; conversely. If you still have a LOT of bark remaining, go to the dollar store or somewhere similar, and get a plastic tote that seals pretty well where they join together, although it's not as airtight as the bag, it works for my leca beads. :)
I have spider mites on my rose bush again this summer. I have to get something stronger then water, dish soap and alcohol. I used a granule pesticide and it didn't work for me. UGH 😈!
Hi Danny! I love your videos and they've helped me many times with my orchids. I recently got a new cymbidium orchid that turned out has a pest problem that you haven't discussed in your videos - sow bugs/pill bugs. Do you have any idea how I can treat it? I tried with H2O2 but it works slowly and the solution I used was wasn't strong as I was careful not to damage the plant.
Hi! I have some clear HARD balls showing up after repotting my phal. I did a hydrogen peroxide bath while I repotted into bark and moss. Unfortunately, I haven't snapped a photo of this but was wondering if you've ever seen such a thing. It's growing a new leaf since the repotting and the leaves are pretty hardy. I've only found 2 balls. One in one of the holes on the side, and then one sitting on the crown area
Danni, it is a very good video. You should keep hydrogen peroxide in a dark container, because light can break it downin oxygen and water and lose potency.
Hi Danny, thanks for all the videos you're uploading. I have an orchid looking like a bamboo. recently I've noticed it's becoming light green from the base, plus I see some tiny flying black bugs coming out of the soil. is there a cure for that? Thank you!!
Hi! Thanks to your video, I think I have a scale infestation since... yesterday. Incredible how fast they multiply! Do we know why we have scale? How they get to our orchids? Because the only change lately is a new liquid fertilizer and I don't think it can bring pest. So I wonder what I did wrong to get these pests.
Suzie O'Connor I know that she's gotten a few cute ones from IKEA. They do have great actual plant stands, and some of their bookshelves and the shelving systems for your closet work really well. Try Diazanon or Malathion for insecticides for scale insects 1-2 teaspoons per gallon it should not burn it harm orchid .
scale insects can easily be killed by spraying the plants with water with a few drops of lavender oil and or neem oil
I lost my poor cymbidiums to scale and my lack of knowledge. :(
