I've taken 2 coyotes with this bullet, out of a 20" Howa mini @2760fps. One at 210 yards and one at 145 yards. Bang-flop. Excellent performance. Neither bullet exited the other side. Great video!!

That cavity would liquefy a lot of lung tissue on a whitetail for sure. Huge wound cavity. Stop a yote in it's track for sure...hurt the hog good also I would think.
I was debating whether or not to try this exact ammo on does here in Texas. I like neck shots, but did not know what this round would do. After looking at your gel tests, I think it will work perfectly on a neck shot. Thanks for the info.
These bullets seem much harder than i originally expected. Total pass throughs. No visual damage to the coyotes. Still early so time will tell. May be a hell of a deer bullet. But im thinking ill keep my vmax bullets for predators and other shit i want to make a mess out of.
I am sitting in house waiting for myb6 arc to be delivered and wondering how it will compare to a 224 valkerie. I think they will shoot simular but hoping arc will even do a better job in wind. Some times I hunt in 30 to 50 mph wind I try to shoot with or against wind in that situation but still effects accuracy. I usually just got to 7prc for the problem solver.
Seems to be alot of randomness to these bullets especially the .224 version. Anything from no expansion to grenading on a yotes chest just to watch it jump up and run off
The one yote I shot with these rounds was in 6Creed at 187? yards I think it was. It dropped instantly but didn't do a lot of damage. Had to get the buddy to put another round in it when we went to retrieve it.
It's hard to say, both of them would do a number on coyotes. Inside 300 I don't know if you could really see much difference but farther out I think the VT would win out. If your gun is shooting one hole groups with the 87's I would be hard pressed to change. I tried the VT's in my 6 creed and it doesn't really like them like my 6 ARC does. In my creed, they're averaging about 2.5" 5 shot groups.
@@thelonggunner762 thanks bossman! I will stick to the 87g grainers than! You know how it is, something new comes out you just have to try it! Been thinking about swapping my 6.5 grendal barrel out for a 6 arc. If I do, than I’ll give these bullets a try.
Thanks for posting, ill be getting some of those load development targets. For what its worth, the 87gr vmax has a .010 lower bc than these. .400 vs .410, and alot longer contact surface. 🤙
@@kothliim6429 so your saying they are just as finicky and limited on seating depth? They came out with this cartridge for the ar 15, then introduce it with a bunch of bullets that arent that great for rifles with limited coal because of magazine size. This bullet makes more sense in the 6cm.
I am running a Carbine buffer and spring in my 18" with a can and the brass looks great, pussy cat recoil, no function issues. I think there's a lot of variables here though and it can be very different from one rifle to the next.
What is interesting is that one can shoot any gun and ammo on paper or waterbottles and test accuracy and skill. Then one can take that experience and knowledge to go hunting deer ethically for food on the table. Why do one have the urge to go out and kill animals which does not present any benefit to you e.g. bears, coyote etc?
I would have to say that bears are definitely edible, I got one a few years back in Minnesota and it tasted good. The coyotes on the other hand are a Nuisance. They try killing my wife's chickens and have even gone after one of my dogs. They are one of the major predators of deer fawns and the pheasants so if I want health populations of them I need to keep the predator population in check to give them a better chance of survival.

I've taken 3 coyotes with my arc and I have same results. Bang flops and no exit... savage 110 switchback . 22" barrel
Did you use a chronograph to get that velocity? How many rounds through that barrel?
@tinkerputzer1 yes sir. 200-250 down the pipe

Most accurate barrel you have out there bunch
Nicely done! Thanks for sharing your experience and your expertise!
Impressive terminal performance indeed! Look forward to your handload results with this bullet, when Hornady makes them available.
I second this.
Advertised velo is from a 24” barrel
It’s a very touchy bullet. I got them to shoot really well in my 6 creed but hand loads. From tiny to an inch within .4 of a grain.
A few of the factory cases I’ve pulled looked like they were using leverevolution powder which seems to burn pretty dirty

Why neck?
Need a link to those load targets where you shot the groups

I was fixin to ask the same question. I have a new Horizon Vandal in 22 Creedmoor OTW can't wait to start working loads up for it.
Way more ability than just a coyote

Would love to see the 55gr or 58gr velocity in the 6mm Arc if the rifling allows it.
I bought a box of the 58gr projectiles the other day, just need to find some time to sit at press and work them up.
In 18” bolt gun, stout load of accurate 2200, 55 NBT - 3,520 fps is what I get but that’s a little over hornadys max for their 58 vmax load data
Promising round, can't wait to reload some. Curious if you know what the overall length of that round is from the factory?
I shot all the ones I had but I can see if we have some at the shop tomorrow
@@thelonggunner762 Much appreciated!
@brentlemaster675 I measured 10 factory rounds and COAL was between 2.252 - 2.257. Most of them were closer to 2.252 - 2.254

Interesting that the most accurate .223 bullet weight is 80gr. I wonder if there's a correlation. 🤔
