How To Ragdoll | Source FilmMaker

- This video covers how to create a ragdoll effect on a model in Source FilmMaker. Utilizing a couple of python scripts and useful objects.
I intend on creating more tutorials and would love suggestions in the comments.

This is an AWESOME tutorial, I love the editing!
Thanks Man! I plan on keeping that style for my future uploads as well.
dude, thanks xd. actually just started to search for this
Appreciate the support my guy. I will make more tutorials in the future as well
Fantastic tutorial! I am just getting into SFM and am very thankful for your work here. Have a sub, my dude. :)
Thank you very much for your contribution. Do you have any other tips you would like to share?
I'm glad I could help, any other pointers I'll share on this channel as I make the videos
Thank you for the great tutorial💯
very good tutorial everything works
this is lifesaving
Loved it, need more Tutorials
Hi ya I don’t know why but I could not get the 2 objects e.g. I was using heavy and the crate just as a test but they wouldn’t collide?
So how would you go about making a character fall from the sky and land on the ground (or just get thrown to the ground)? I've tried this with a few models but nothing seems to happen.
some models I have found don't react well to the physics rig. I've been experimenting with work arounds, but I'll put out a solution when I find one that is reliable. However, for this situation using the slab as the floor and set to kinematic and a model as none kinematic should do it.
hey, some models don't have connected bones but instead points of movement making them explode in the simulation. You know how to fix that?
im a bit late to this but when i try to use a crate to interact with a model it wont actually interact. is there away i can fix this?
I havent tried it yet but couldn't you attach a crate to steves head and make in invis so it will actually move the stuck crate on his head? or does that not work?
Any time I've attempted locks while physics run it has caused issues, but that specific action I haven't tried. I'd love to here back from you if it works out or not.
@@SFMwithSnakeEyedJake I did it differently then how I though I could but I got it to work. Sent a link to the video on your steam profile.
I have a question that hopefully someone can help me with. I am trying to set up a scene like the one in the video where a box falls and hits the person below, causing the person to collapse.
However, when I run the physics, the person just immediately rag dolls and collapses before the box hits them. What am I doing wrong? The model always rag dolls even if nothing interacts with it.
In the video itself the model actually does ragdoll before the impact, but the way collisions acted with that specific model he was able to stand for a second prior to impact.
Have you tried animating the kinematic values of the rig? I personally have never attempted this, but it may help keep the model stagnant while the box itself moves.
@@SFMwithSnakeEyedJake Thank you for the reply! After I played around some more, I figured out how to get the desired effect. Great video and tools!
@@TheSilliestWilly Glad you were able to figure out a solution!
@@TheSilliestWilly bro a question what commands have you used to give that desired effect? i would like to know bro
how do i make it so my models can also have a ik rig when ragdolling as in to make their bones not go all over the place as if they were liquid because all my ragdolls bend their bones backwards and stuff so how do i make it so the bones cant bend backwards during physics
There is a set of controls that are applied with the rig related to constraints. I will make another video covering them further, but those controls are used to prevent the handles from over rotating and such.
@@SFMwithSnakeEyedJake ok cool ill be on the look out for that video cause im not a doctor but im pretty sure arms dont bend outward after tripping over a rock
@@TrainCookie lmao, true true
we need someone to make sfmphys better by making the ragdolls normally collide with the maps and stuff but i dont know if its possible
so good
How do you make models not fall through the floor? I have the slab and it's rigged, and I have a stack of 5 milk bottles that just clip through the slab.
Some models don't work with this script. Is there a way to fix that? also great video great explanation and good visuals
What models specifically? I'll run some tests on them to see if I can find a work around.
comment a link to the model you're using, I'll tinker with it and see what the issue is.
Great video well made how do you only have 5 subscribers (1 is me :D)
I appreciate the support my man! I been learning this stuff for a while so I'm glad to hear that it's actually good. 😅
Tho montage is the best!!!!

take my sub
is there any video where they don't yap
It ain't a tutorial without yapping
