The US dub was so hysterical, the Japanese studio had it subbed in Japanese. They couldn’t stop laughing.

I'm not saying there aren't plenty of Japanese people who don't understand English but English is probably the most commonly used language, even in places you wouldn't expect.
None of this is relevant though because op said subbed, meaning they can just read what's being said anyways.
The official dub sounds more like an abridged series then any abridged series I have ever watched.
I wouldn't be surprised if it inspired current abridged series

I hate it when people say that Japanese is superior to English. It’s more like the original for the most part is always gonna be better than the imitation. This is a great example of a dub not trying to imitate the sub(Japanese dub)and it worked perfectly. Just for context watch western cartoons and movies in Japanese and it’s so jarring and bizarre. The sub is mostly always better than the dub(imitation)but I have three examples of dubs that I prefer and those are ghost stories,konosuba and dragon ball.

If you’re asking if this is official yes. This is the official professional dub. This anime was not successful at all in japan so when it came time to dub it they told the actors to do whatever they wanted.

Fun fact: The Japanese creator gave up on this anime because it wasn't blowing up and gave it to dub creator so they could do whatever with it. At the end, the dub creators did whatever they felt like and had fun dubbing this anime.
