3000 hrs on destiny 1 been playing since I was 15, 1000 hrs on d2 and stopped playing mid forsaken and I’ve just come back this week this was super helpful! Can’t wait to catch up!
Just started Destiny 2 for the first time. Haven't played destiny since it first came out 2014-2015. I'm pretty excited to get back into it. Your guide is great. Thanks for all the info 💜
@@Petra999 ik you didn’t ask me. @@Petra999 that’s why it’s “free”;) I really enjoyed the witch queen content and I didn’t buy it, but as you said it was just a trial to get me to soft cap…. Played D1 on xbox from dark below until rise of iron came out and never really got into d2 since my friend group stopped playing it. Happy to be returning to d2 on pc so this was really helpful thanks bro
As a new player who came from Warframe, pre-Softcap was so fun due to the freedom you have over the game. After that, the bounties make you do things you don't want and you burn out chasing powerlevel even after buying expansions. They should add bounty transmutation/crafting system to change what the bounty is or even add a feature that blocks certain bounties. I feel like im constantly punished for playing the game the way I want to play. Do I have to play the game that way? No, but it's neccecary to hit hard cap as soon as possible to be able to do grandmaster nightfall content. I have 7 exotics and I feel like I still accomplished nothing in the game. Seeing other people saying that this game isn't worth playing just makes me closer to quitting. Anyways thanks for the guide!
It's a Neverending trap. Fear of missing out is through the roof on this game. That's why everyone says do not start playing it. It looks fun and interesting from the outside but on the inside the players are struggling to keep there sanity
Don't push so hard. It's a game, not work. If you aren't having fun, then why play? Grandmaster nightfalls are the top tier. Just about everything in the game is less difficult than that. If you burn yourself out trying for GMs, then you aren't going to enjoy, literally, everything else in the game. With RNGesus running things, it can take time to get the best gear, even when you push hard. If the bounty in question is something you hate, then don't do it. Don't even buy it. There will be new bounties tomorrow. Quit listening when other people tell you how to play (including me). You can watch guides on how to do this or that, but when it comes right down to it, unless your playstyle matches the guide-maker's precisely, then it might not even work for you. Trying to force it when there isn't a match is just work. Play the way that makes you happy, even if someone tells you you're doing it wrong. First time I did Vault of Glass, I got blasted for using a bow. I did just fine, maybe better than some of the others who were more familiar with the encounters. Now, they don't complain. Same thing happened first time I did Pit of Heresy. I was told that using a sword for the final boss wouldn't work. Yes it does. Quite well too. You do you, and have fun.
This was an extremely helpful video cause I have had my toes dipped in for a while now but never really felt comfortable with the game because of the old armor mod system being so annoying to learn well, but now the new mod system has allowed me to be able to actually get a solid foot on my character before trying to learn the rest of the game

I think is played until the update after Cayde died. Then I stopped. But after the reveal of Lightfall I’m extremely intrigued to come back run some more grinding. I booted the game up for the first time in years yesterday and was immediately overwhelmed by everything that has changed and all of the obtuse objectives thrown at you from every direction. I feel like it’s gonna take me 20 hours just to catch up on all the story stuff I’ve missed. I don’t even understand how the new gear system mechanics work now. It’s a lot…
Nice ima watch that video right away. I randomly thought of destiny 2 a few days ago and decided to download it again. Last played it over 2 years ago and I’m completely lost. I didn’t play super much anyway so I’d basically consider myself a new player with existing characters. Remembering some things and will hopefully figure out the rest by this guide. Thanks :)
Too bizarre, I also returned just today after a several year sabbatical. Over 1k hours in destiny 1. Seeing that on my ps5 reinvigorated my desire to try destiny 2. Tried when it launched and didn't like it. Let's hope I enjoy it more this go around!
Thanks for this I returned after a few years . I played destiny 1 and made my character a high level than I start destiny 2 but stopped when my cousin deleted my character and today I start all over and I feel overwhelmed
This video was a life saver, i havent played since xmas and so much has changed that I didn't know where to start. Instead of having to start fresh, you've immensely helped me, I liked and subbed for you, thanks man!!
I’ve played this game on and off and what’s always frustrated me and took me away from the game was trying to get the best stats for your gear and making sure you’re using the correct and best gear for the subclass you use, it’s always confused me so when I play I always feel like I barely do the damage I should be doing which has always been a shame because I adore this game and have done since destiny 1, I’ve just recently reinstalled due to the hype around lightfall, hoping to try and get my head around the gear and attempting to understand what will be useful or “meta” like for the current content and future content
3 characters can confuse you even more trying to organize all your gear and stats etc. I'm going to delete my other 2 characters come lightfall. I dont care about the benefits of having 3 characters anymore. I'm tired of trying to keep up with 3 characters
@@Capt_Hobbs aye, coming back to the game I’ve already deleted and restarted with a Warlock, I progressed quite far with a Titan in the past, but my gear had never been up to scratch for raids/trials or anything with high difficulty because I simply didn’t have the best rolls on my weapons or just simply didn’t have meta weapons at all, same goes with armor, I never understood what good armors to choose nor combine with my class to get its full potential
@Matthew Davis choose wisely. I chose warlock because of well of radiance and just because they're the coolest😂. No need to have 3 characters. All they do is save you time but not really because you have to do everything 3 times to catch up every dlc
Really good job on explaining the new stuff. I'm still somewhat lost about the dlcs and weapons/armors in the game. Trying to understand whats good and what isn't, there's too much weapons lol.
I beat the launch destiny 2 campaign and stopped. I didn't even know it went free to play. I restarted about a month ago. Don't give up guys, eventually it all clicks. I'm still finding new things and there's a lot of content for everyone
I stopped playing in the middle of beyond light because the clan i was in disbanded and lost the drive to play it. Still kept up with the lore and the game still looks amazing!
Hey Part Time Guardian! My two sons and I want to get back into this game. When it came out my 7 year old didn't exist and my older boy was 4 years old. They are now 14 and 8. We want to play, but don't really know where to start. Should I buy every expansion or is there something I can buy that catches us up to today's current level?
The most difficult part about trying to get back into D2 is figuring out what DLCs I need to purchase and exactly how much money it will cost. It's never crystal clear for me, I always come back and think I just need the latest DLC, but it's really never enough. I feel so lost.
So I just came back after an 8 month break so the seasonal stuff has been fun but overwhelming. For DLCs sake, Beyond light, witch queen and light fall (aka the newest one) are what u want to get. Those have the newest raids and the best weapons used today
Funny you said that, i'm in the EXACT situation as you. Every now and them i get this sudden urge to play it all again, just read some steam reviews about the dlcs and a lot of them say that mostly of the "old" content was removes and things like that. I'm really confused rn.
@@youngtrash666 so I've been grinding for the past day and actually enjoying it without any of the latest DLC's since like 2020. I've just been doing bounties and Iron banner and leveling up quite quickly. I'm definitely gonna end up getting the new expansion when it drops.
As a new player, if I wanted to jump straight into Lightfall, would I have any issues? Or will my level be boosted by bungie so I can play the new expansion?
i returned 3 days ago after not playing 2 weeks after forsakens release and my god im so lost. i bought shadow keep and newlight but the game is so different compared to before i left. Im still struggling trying to get back into it. It’s almost making me want to give up trying to be back into destiny but i dont want to give up yet. Lightfall motivated me to get back into this universe.
I would just gradually ease in with content you used to play. Dont worry about leveling up abilites etc because the expansion will be here in a few weeks.
I returned yesterday after many years, never owned any DLC. The only thing I ever enjoyed in D2 was the PVE nightfall stuff but if I'm remembering correctly, it had visible light level difficulties so that you can get rarer drops in the harder runs. Unless i'm blind or looking in the wrong place, there it only 1 option for nightfall f2p and no light level req difficulty modes.. just DLC modes. Sort of disappointing. Also watching this video, everything went over my head hahaha, I think with all the DLC, mods, artifacts and what have you, it's just too much, at least for me, to hop back in and understand what the hell is going on. I just enjoyed the old school way of getting a better piece of armor/weapon and equipping it without taking any notice to the mods of it or stats etc. Great video man but yeah, I just have no clue what this game is anymore haha
I had that feeling too. But I thought f it, got the cheap dlc and found a friend to play with. Just going to play as long as it's fun, maybe in the end I know what's what, if not, then I'll just have a good chunk of fun.
I was an advent player of the first game and I played 2 quite a bit when it first came out. I don’t think I’ve played this game since Beyond Light came out. You can imagine how lost I am lol. Only thingI really know is that the campaign is vaulted and they are going through this philosophy that once a new expansion comes out, they take out the oldest one. This makes since for cleaning up the game and reducing file size, but I don’t think I agree with taking away content that costs anywhere between 20 - 60 dollars. I’m on PlayStation, if there’s anyone that wants to join up and give me a hand on setting up and getting up to speed, that would be awesome.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a great video and I think destiny is a good game, but this did an awesome job reminding me exactly why I left. So thank you for keeping me from wasting more money on a game that really just isn’t for me anymore and hasn’t been since Destiny 1.
This video only makes sense to someone who knows the in and outs of this game....I have never played and have not a clue what your talking about....thanks for the beginner video
I can’t figure out how to do anything on this game anymore 😂 Just wanted to play coop with my gf and it seems the whole game has changed even the campaign. Half of the stuff won’t let us play together. I don’t remember it being like this
Literally downloading it after 3/4 years and I’m definitely a new light, anybody down to help a new guy out ready for light fall? Would be very much appreciated
Coming back to this game feels so good playing like I had this on ps4 on release with barely anything in the game, free to play btw the game is much more fun and the game flow is really good only downloaded it cause the active players never seemed to drop on stats jus got bigger
I'm a player who has come back to Destiny after a few years off. All my item is when I started again 1600. (ps bought all the expansions because steam was on offer). But here comes the middle big question, none of my old legenday weapons and armor, can be upgraded with upgrade module, so they will stay at 1600 forever or untill power get set up. If I try the system tells me "ARE YOU SURE? The Power level...........are you sure you want to proceed with infusion" And of the first time I tried this, first one was my fav. Legenday weapon Tier 10 Braytech werewolf, and I thought it was just a standar warning like in other games. Now the games says "Item at Current Power Cap". I had an other weapon that I had 2 of Tier 10 so i Dismantle this to see if I got the resourse back, and yes but very few. So I all my old Legendary items woth nothing or is there an other way to get them level up ?? (ps I could see that u had the Braytech werewolf) and PPS this to get all my item upgrade took 900 hours in game play.
I just wanna know where to start the campaign, I log in and have ten planets with a thousand shimmering "click me" tabs...I found something under the quest tab and it took me to a planet that wanted me to buy their dlc lmao I just backed out.. rip lol
This is great thank you so much for this video I just got the 2023 legacy collection with the last expansions. Is there anything that’s changed since there is a new expansion now?
So what do you guys think I should do to my legacy guns that can't be brought up to the current power level as well as my old armor, should I get rid of it? Any tips and tricks? Should I purge all my weapons and old armor for my 3 characters? Note* I recently jumped back into the game and have not played this game since it came out.
Haven't played in a year and a half. Wasn't too good in the first place all I did was mindlessly play started researching destiny 2 all kinds of tips and stuff. One thing I did not know that would've saved me a lot of time that probably every one knew was to keep your highest power level items on you not your vault.
I played Destiny 1 in the Beta and I played all the content that came out for PS3 going into the PS4 release. Destiny was fun. I ignored all the nonsense people whined about. I sold my PS3, Got a PS4 and sold that too and stayed away from games for like 7 years. I'm now back playing COD but I'm not as thrilled with COD anymore. I use to be a high level COD player but it feels way off to me now. Want to go back to Destiny and see if I'm still good.
I just started getting I to d2. I played d1 all the way through and loved it. Issue im having with d2 is there seems to be WAY to much to purchase With real money. The fact that dlcs that have been almost completely removed are still on sale for $25+. Like I would love to get the thorn, the last word, or other exotics from the old dlcs, but im gonna have to spend so much money its ridiculous. Honestly a huge turn off
will i need expansions to do any of this? how important are the older expansions. since bungies model is you pay for all content individually.... do i have a lower light level cap being on the f2p version or one of the earlier expansions, opposed to the most recent lightfall?
I just saved myself a lot of time! About 2 minutes into this video I was like "oh yeah that's why I stopped playing destiny" haha you are describing a 9 to 5 job 6-7 days a week. I wish this game wasn't designed to suck your time away :(
Keep in mind that there are changes coming with Lightfall. A lot of them. As of Feb 28, this vid will be out of date. Loadout manager, changes to armor mods, match game is being removed from high-level activities (base shield resistance is changing), elemental wells are changing, warmind cells are going away, and the artifact will have unlockable perks rather than mods. The changes to engrams are... significant, and a bit complicated. Also, champions are changing. There will be ways to deal with each champion type using the seasonal anti-champion perks in the artifact (tied to a particular weapon type), certain subclass damage types, and intrinsic perks on specific exotics.
I’ve been going around collecting like items in those like resources on planets, but they don’t seem to go on my inventory anymore did they remove them?
I played forsaken just before the ice dlc and im thinking of coming back now. I mainly quit due to the shields and champions that just made the game anoyying and the dumb anti barrier mods. Its a shame thats still in the game
Thank you for this video. I still have some doubts . I stop playing when the Power level was around 600 and i remember that Bungie decided to take a lot of old content out. Did they revert back that decision ? since a lot of cool weapons / exotics ships etc were tied to those raids / content. For instance that raid where you need to go around the arena and have to specific jump or pass in a spot ( dont remember the name ) xD
I haven’t played this in a really long time. And it seems to get caught up I gotta spend a good bit of money on ALL the expansions 😢 don’t think I’ll be getting back into the game tbh

We want to play, but don't really know where to start. Should I buy every expansion or is there something I can buy that catches us up to today's current level?
Played during wild hunt season. Got to a point where I didn’t know what to do so I stopped playing. This time ima figure this shit out lol
Super informative video! I appreciate it. You definitely deserve more engagement for this based on the view count.
Seems very fitting to watch a video since I left so many years ago and now Lightfall has descended.
Glad to have you back
The most difficult part about trying to get back into D2 is figuring out what DLCs I need to purchase and exactly how much money it will cost. It's never crystal clear for me, I always come back and think I just need the latest DLC, but it's really never enough. I feel so lost.
3000 hours in D1 and 1200 in D2 btw... trying to come back after a 2 year hiatus is just overwhelming.
So I just came back after an 8 month break so the seasonal stuff has been fun but overwhelming. For DLCs sake, Beyond light, witch queen and light fall (aka the newest one) are what u want to get. Those have the newest raids and the best weapons used today
@@Aquipments thanks, I'm looking forward to the grind lol just wanna get back to a competent PvP level
Wanted to Thankyou for this video I don’t know the last time I really played but gonna try to get into it
Have fun!
Came back after a year and a half and this video was super helpful
Welcome back!
Looking for people to play with, returning after a couple years. Everyone moved to other games.
Last time I played cayde 6 just died
I just started playing a bit, for the first time since destiny 2 first released, I had like 30 cards pop up when I loaded the game LOL.
I just started they gave beyond light for free on playstaion plus monthly games . I'm not gonna lie I am in love with this game so far
Great!
I’m barely getting back into it D2 again after 3 years lol, even then I only had like 6 hours played. I had about 400-500 hours on D1
I played destiny 1 till the first raid dropped and didn’t have anyone to play picked up D2 and I’m kinda lost lol but thanks for the vid
Been away so long that the content I played when I bought it isn't in the game anymore
I didn't play for 3 years and everything I knew was gona I feel you
Same
Yep theres a lot vaulted...
Thinking bout coming back but its a hard life for a solo player. Wish I had friends that played.
Last time i played this game level 20 was the max and 1600 was the max light
They stopped vaulting dlcs btw...
I just now returned from light was max at 600 there’s just so much going on
Coming back after a few years. The last thing I remember playing is the original campaign before it was changed and the first two dlc.
Lot of change since
I literally just started 3-4days ago & I’ve never played destiny before
Don’t get me wrong, this is a great video and I think destiny is a good game, but this did an awesome job reminding me exactly why I left. So thank you for keeping me from wasting more money on a game that really just isn’t for me anymore and hasn’t been since Destiny 1.
Okay
havent played this game in over a year and now i feel compelled to return...
I just returned this morning. I built a pc and I have a lot of space so I was like why not
Nows the time!
Bro I just came back after 3 months and this vid is helpful gta5 is dry as hell rn which is why destiny 2 is my new game
This video only makes sense to someone who knows the in and outs of this game....I have never played and have not a clue what your talking about....thanks for the beginner video
Its geared to a returning player audience. I plan to work on a new player guide. I do have a new player guide from last year on my channel already.
Just finished my download lol
console or pc??
@@elijahvital2331 ps5 mate, wby?
@@aidangriffiths24 PC, holla at me if u wanna play my friends are lame
I’m playing this game after like 2 years now my Brain feels likes it’s about to explode
Just take it slow. Lots of new stuff in the game.
i returned last week and I’m overwhelmed anyone down to help out a noobie run some general content like strikes and all that
Coming back to this game feels so good playing like I had this on ps4 on release with barely anything in the game, free to play btw the game is much more fun and the game flow is really good only downloaded it cause the active players never seemed to drop on stats jus got bigger
There are retired items that have a grey color in the upper left hand corner of the weapon or armor icon. Anything else can be upgraded.
I haven’t played since shadowkeep came out and idk what to even do anymore it all sound so confusing
Haven’t played since before witch queen, I’m thinking of coming back but I don’t know where to start
I just started like a week ago and this Game is cool and its fun but i dont have anyone to Play with or to have a fireteam
Haven't played in a year and a half. Wasn't too good in the first place all I did was mindlessly play started researching destiny 2 all kinds of tips and stuff. One thing I did not know that would've saved me a lot of time that probably every one knew was to keep your highest power level items on you not your vault.
You dont need to do that unless you need it for a higher level activity. Power upgrades look at your vault as well..
It’s been awhile. Trying to get back in
I quit shortly after shadowkeep I barely played any of shadowkeep. And I feel lost in a lot of ways lol.
Its okay its a lot...
I downloaded it did the new light quest and I haven't logged in since 😂 too much to catch up on.
True but they normally have catchup mechanics in the game every year
I love how the most replayed is people skipping the pvp section
Picked the game back up after who knows how long. I stopped around warmind. Know clue what to do
anyone looking to tackle the Queen Witch Campaign or any pve content? returning player
damnn what weapon did you use to kill in Gambit 😯 .. n where to get that damnn 🔥🔥 amazing video btw
Its vex mythoclast and you get it from running vault of glass...
Honestly a huge turn off
Wait for the dlcs when they are on sale they always do. The new stuff is where it is at
I don’t have any dlc purchases and just got back into it. Would I be okay just purchasing light fall or light fall + annual pass?
Coming back to the game after playing Destiny 1. I feel like a newbie.
just pick this one up seems interesting what should i know
will i need expansions to do any of this? how important are the older expansions. since bungies model is you pay for all content individually.... do i have a lower light level cap being on the f2p version or one of the earlier expansions, opposed to the most recent lightfall?
Just returned, and I'm a bit lost. Just doing occasional crucibles and the witch story line, but there seems so much I don't get.
Just take it one day at a time...
Me and two friends are trying to come back. Last played on forsaken. We have no idea where to go before we buy dlcs
What content do you want to play?
I beat the story when it came out. Now I wanna come back
Well come back!
They have made some changes to make it a little more manageable
Thank you for this video. I still have some doubts . I stop playing when the Power level was around 600 and i remember that Bungie decided to take a lot of old content out. Did they revert back that decision ? since a lot of cool weapons / exotics ships etc were tied to those raids / content. For instance that raid where you need to go around the arena and have to specific jump or pass in a spot ( dont remember the name ) xD
No they havent brought content back
I haven’t played this in a really long time. And it seems to get caught up I gotta spend a good bit of money on ALL the expansions 😢 don’t think I’ll be getting back into the game tbh
Wow, you have made this really plain. Thank you so much.
